Conductor of Waves Stories

Rate this book
Darcy Rhyno's stories eloquently evoke the experience of growing up within the narrow confines of a South Shore (Nova Scotia) fishing village, where the only broad horizons are those of the eastern sea. Yet his characters manage to survive, to reach out, to rebel, and even to grow. Spare and clean, these are impressively truthful stories. --Silver Donald Cameron--

Stories with a "down home east coast" feel, and a fair bit of grit and punch. Tragedy and humour intermingle, often on the same page. Darcy Rhyno does not let his characters off easily. These are working class people, struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table. Their flaws and limitations are on full display. A challenging and rewarding first collection.
