Poetry. This book is Jeni Olin's first full collection of poems. It includes original full-color drawings by Larry Rivers. "The rapidly disappearing New York landscape gleams afresh in Jeni Olin's wonderfully caustic and vulnerable lyrics. As she reflects on how 'the Manhattan dusk shots that accompany the "Welcome Back Kotter" theme song leave sadder than the death of a friend,' the city comes in focus, paradoxically, 'like Kleenex on a sidewalk in the rain.' Olin's voice is both raw and strangely accommodating. This is a marvelous debut."-John Ashbery
If you don't like this book then we need to cancel our fucking dinner engagement because I don't think I can ever fucking speak to you ever fucking again!
Not sure why I love Jeni's poetry so much. My love for it feels totally personal. As if Jeni stepped inside of O'hara's personism. The lines are sharp and funny, tragic and redeemed all at once. Makes me ache.
I found some poems online and then bought this book. I love finding writers this way. It's affecting and emotional poetry with a funny edge to it. I recommend it highly.
