I made it.
This has been a bit of a bumpy ride for me. The characters and the story in each book held my attention.

My only real problem was the writing. Honestly it drove me nuts in the first four books. Constantly referring to main characters as
The Immortal
The Harvard Professor
It just didn’t work and frustrated me no end. But the story kept me reading.

Book 5 worked a lot better. And here it worked really well.

Credit where credit is due this turned out to be a fabulous end to this series. I’m so glad I kept reading.

Everything came together and the writing worked so much better. Well either that or I’ve just got used to it.

What a fantastic conclusion to the Seventeen series.
The author once again engaged me with her powerful imagery and action-packed writing.
The fight scenes were written so well I could “see” them.

Its not all mayhem and fighting; there’s love, laughter and tenderness throughout in a mix that keeps your heart-blood racing.

The end was very emotional and ultimately satisfying. (You will have to read it to see what emotion it was – no spoilers here).

It was a solid and true ending for the Seventeen crew. There is hope for the Seventeen “Universe” as it seems there are new series brewing based on this world.

"I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher." But it would be the same anyway – I always buy her books. ☺

description

I cannot believe that its been more than 2 years since I started the Seventeen series... it seems like it was just yesterday! I am such a huge fan of this series and author, and the individual books have made it onto my Top 10 list every year since I started reading them. While the end of the series is always a little bittersweet, there is good news for all of us fans and definitely lots more to come from this amazing author. If you have not started this series, you will need to start at the beginning with Hunted, as there is a continuing story arc and you don't want to miss anything. Starrling has a fantastic attention to detail and her research and inclusion for these books is extraordinary. In fact, if I could do it all over again, I would have taken notes and created a series bible as I was reading. There is a lot to remember! (Though she does do a good job recapping things that are necessary to the next installment.)

The format of Destiny is a bit different from the earlier books. There is no sideline story involving romantic interests. Instead, Destiny joins together all of our favorite couples of the past, along with some of their children, to wrap up loose ends and battle the evil that has been following them for years. There are also some blasts from the (very far) past that show up and shake things up even more.

I knew I was going to be in trouble with this book as soon as I started it, which happened to be in the evening. The first couple chapters were so explosive that I knew I wouldn't be putting the book down until I was finished... which was around 4am. Who needs sleep anyway!?! While I liked seeing Lucas Soul in his role as husband and father... his children absolutely stole the show. Tomas and Lily were captivating and I couldn't get enough of them. They certainly acted wise beyond their years and their power was seemingly endless. The twins were a perfect mix of youthful innocence, aged wisdom and stoic calm.

I was also stoked to spend some time with my still-favorite character, Alexa. I am happy to report that Alexa seems to have thawed as a result of her relationship with Zachary, and I found her to be somewhat humorous in this installment. It made me want to go back and read her book all over again... and then I started thinking about my fond feelings of Yonten, the warrior monk. I really loved him.

I now understand why Starrling included the prequel, Origins, as the 5th book of the series. Structuring it this way perfect, and it especially helped to have the historical details more fresh in my mind as we were wrapping things up. And given the information that we learn in Destiny, you will want to pay close attention to who is who in Origins.

I know this review was rambling, but I'm really trying not to give *any* spoilers! I think its best to discover every aspect of these stories on your own so that your adrenaline stays pumping the entire time as you read, and you won't know what is coming next! Just trust me when I say that you NEED this series in your life. There is a reason that every single book has a 4.5+ star average on Amazon ... this author is Just. That. Good. Starrling's books are rich in detail, action, suspense, and engaging characters. I can't wait to see what she gives us next.

This is one of those very odd situations where I started this series a while ago, years ago I think. I really enjoyed the series. I'm not sure what happened, but I never came back to it for the conclusion. I'm thinking that I just got sidetracked with other books and wasn't aware of this book coming out. Honestly, I have no clue. Regardless, one day I was looking at something and saw this. I immediately went to Goodreads to see if this was a book I had read and that's when I realized I had only read the first 5 books in the series. Why is this important? It's not, really. It just might help explain that I had to take a while to remember who everyone was. But, more importantly...after being away for YEARS, it just threw me directly into the action and I did not have one single problem diving right in.

I also want to add that there was not an audio version available and I have to admit, I've gotten a bit spoiled being able to listen to books. Once I began though, that was never an issue. The book starts with a bang and doesn't let up until the very end.

The cast of characters came right back to me. The only ones I had any issues with were the long lost souls from times gone by. But other than that...I jumped right back in. There is the perfect amount of tension, angst, action and resolution. I enjoyed this immensely.

So- even though I'm a bit late coming to the party - I'm glad I was able to finally make it.

Definitely worth it:)

Reading the Seventeen series has been amazing journey, and this conclusion to the series certainly did not disappoint. All of the characters that we have been introduced to in the earlier novels are finally all together; all one family that have been brought together by their ancestors to face one final battle together. I love AD Starrling’s style of writing, she makes you feel that you are there with the characters, fighting, laughing and crying with them. I was sad reading the epilogue, knowing the journey was at an end, but there were enough teasers in there to show that there will definitely be a spin off series, so there is still something to look forward to. The one thing that I wish is that I’d had time to re-read the other books in the series prior to reading this one. There are a lot of ‘main’ characters in this book who have inherited powers from their ancestors whose story was told in book 5 and I could have done with a refresher course on who’s who. I shall probably reread the whole series now that it is complete, just to get even more from it. I have great admiration for the author to have kept it all straight in her head. She has obviously put a great amount of work into the timeline and that really does show in the writing. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher.

Sad that this is the last book....excited for what this author has for us next !!!

What an epic ending to a truly Epic adventure !!!!
I hated for this incredible story to end . Yet , was anxious to read what was going to happen next !!!
In this book , we see horrible , outside forces trying to bring an utterly horrific future into fruition.
Will the forces of good and evil prevail ???

After reading this entire series, and Lucas, Anna , their children , and many various family members and friends, I felt like they were MY Family and friends. I wept when it was over, and I am still feeling some kind of way.....
But that is what a MAGNIFICENT story does .... It takes you , and wraps you up in all of its magnificence . And makes you HAPPY !!!
If you like Lots of action and adventure , with unforgettable characters, then these books are for you !!!

What an amazing conclusion to this first series in the Starrling-created universe! The characters, the plotting, the action, and the writing all came together to make the conclusion both inevitable and exciting.

When I start a multi-volume series, I like to read the first 3 books to get a feeling for the author and their world-building. Then, I may read something else to cleanse my palate and mark the remaining books for future reading. With this series, however, I was so hooked at the end of book 3 that I just had to keep reading. And, wow! -- that was the right decision.

I am going to wait to begin Legion, the second series in this universe, but I will not be surprised if a) that happens sooner than I'm planning and b) I again consume the complete series without interruption. Starrling is that good.

The final chapter in the Seventeen series, it just spirals up and up, you'll need your Kleenex in a few spots, you will laughe, and you will love all the family of Lucas and Anna Soul, and also the extended ones. If you have read the seventeen series, your on a winner with this last enstalement, if you haven't I'd go and pick them up to read. This is highly imaginative, scary at times, bad ass warriors and tender souls all combine to give you a fantastic story. At times I had to put it down, so intense, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, sad to see the end, but the ending was superb. I received an ARC copy from the author for an honest review. I highly recommend Destiny, and Immortal fans, you won't be disappointed.

Just wow🏆

I am really impressed by this author. All the books 📚 I have read from this series so far, has keep me alert and engage in the story, not a boring moment, while transfixed in the adventure, where you will find action, love 💘, not and funny moments.
I have read other series that become boring and sometimes repetitive.... to the point that I loose interest, is like the authors get stuck and there imaginations suffer a lack of creativity. But in this particular series that is not the case, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did,,,✋

If you've been following the series, you're gonna love this one. Destiny is more than just a wrap up of loose ends from the story. It's a thrill ride full of action and surprises from beginning to end and could easily stand on it's own. Destiny is also one of the best series finales I've ever read. Good read.

For those who want to know: This one has language and violence.

Excellent intense and thoughtful book! Lucas and Anna have a wonderful family. Not just the children but relatives as well. This story has lost of information, yes there is mystery, action, romance and even humor. Howard is still a favorite on mine but Lily and Tomas are next. If you have not read the other books preceding, Destiny, I highly recommend you to as they are informative and excellent! When you read this book it is advisable to have kleenex nearby. Read and enjoy!

I have been hanging out for this book, after reading the first five, and all of the short stories in rapid succession. From first to last it has been a fast paced, roller-coaster. In many ways an amalgam of Highlander, Mission Impossible & The Bourne Identity.
I cannot wait for the "spin off" series (plural? - one can only hope) that A. D. comes up with.
Thank you for so many hours of entertainment.

Absolutely fabulous conclusion to this series. The storyline is emotional, fast-paced, action-packed, with touches of violence and humor. The characters are developed, likable/hateful, and relatable This whole series will keep the reader addicted from the first book through to the last. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Past comes to haunt, new and old enemies appear, and lives are at stake. The Crovir and Bastian families unit to conquer the demons of the past and make wrongs right. Not too many authors carry a series over to the children but AD Starrling doesn't leave you hanging with this final book in the series.

The end of a series is always a little sad, the Seventeen Series ended great. All the questions throughout the series were answered with a fast paced tale that keeps twisting until the end around very exciting characters. I'm looking forward to another series from this author. Another outstanding read! Author AD Starrling again expands her literary world with this one. With each book she writes she further expands the work already created, but alas all good things come to an end and so dies the Seventeen series with this book, but with endings come beginnings and this author promises a new, related series. I look forward to the next book

As I have finally finished this engaging series, I have to admit, I am filled with longing for more. I truly hope that the tales that have been woven expertly, are carried forth into another amazingly epic adventure... and Lily and Tomas continue to grow and become Leaders the immortal world need.

Series is a must read

I can not even believe how I have read many authors, but Seventeen and Legion were both the best series I have ever read. Page turners, awesome characters. I actually remembered their names. Have only ever did that with another genre Anne Rice. Yes I rank starrling among my favorite all time authors.

Amazing!

The story is simply amazing, keeps you gripped from start to finish. Can be quite a dark story in parts but also light hearted and full of love. Gutted at there only being 6 books, but have no doubt I could happily re-read again and again! Dare I ask for book 7.....please

Another great series by Starlling! This is the one that began it all. (I read them out of order..started first on the Legion series.) She definitely knows how to keep your attention. The action is intense, and the storyline itself is gripping. I’m so glad I happened upon this series. I only wish that she could have continued writing more and more about them.

Compelling

I began with Legion, unbeknownst to me that this Seventeen series even existed until I was already committed to finishing what I started. This is one of the most well-blended storylines bringing ancient and modern together. I am going to recommend this to everyone in my reading group. I know have found a new author to follow! Looking forward to the next series!

These first six books from Seventeen have been amazing, I struggled to put the kindle down. I would love to see this as a film or series. Definitely the best reads I have had in a long time! I didn't want the stories to end.
Looking forward to the next series, hope it will be as good as Seventeen.

Sad that this series has come to an end. I did enjoy the hours spent reading this series. Enjoy reading good books rather than watching the television. Hope you all enjoy this series as much as I have.
