War of the Nine Isles #1

Dragon Rebellion

Rate this book

In a time of magic and legends, a shadow descends and a hero arises...

When I saw the strange dragon in the sky, I knew it was an ill omen. A sign of dark things to come. What I did not know was that the coming of Skybreaker would destroy my world. That a power-hungry king would rise up, my home island would be conquered, and the Nine Isles would turn against one another.

Suddenly, a rogue dragon and a fierce band of rebels are all that stand between my people and annihilation. But do I dare join the resistance? Or do I leave the Nine Isles and the dragonkind to their hopeless fate?

Dragon Rebellion is a really good start to what appears to be a really good series that I'll definitely have to continue when I've thinned out my tbr a little.

I wouldn't say the writing was my favorite (very descriptive and kind of anonimous in its semplicity), but it was easy to get through the pages without getting bored, although it took me like 4 chapters to get properly into it and for a book so short, maybe that's a bit too much.
Despite these little things, though, I can't not appreciate the big heart and spirit of the main character (you get it, you've got purple hair), the way both draginkind and dragons are portrayed, and the way the plot unrolls.
I didn't expected it to be so good in action scenes and the author definitely doesn't hold back when she decides to step up her game and throw some serious and/or shocking twist in there without warning us first.

Overall, I liked this book, even if I could have loved it better. I probably expected it to be something different, less simple and formal, and more colorful in all its aspects and not just in informing the reader what kind the dragon's underpants were or in repeating what color the MC's hair was (purple. yeah).
Perhaps I'm just not in the mood for this kind of fantasy and writing. So for now I'm giving it 3 and a half stars for the moment but I might decide to change it once I made up my mind once and for all.

Very good story

I loved it but I really wish it was male half dragon and female full dragon bonding. I want them to be mates.

I hope to get book 2 soon.

Kill all the evil and save the dragons.

Where are the female dragons?

Why can't we get a view into their world?

I hope for more male human and female dragon bonding.
There just barely any books with them. All the ones I find are female human as main character with male dragon bonding.

I hope there will be more stories like this in future but with what I love to see.

Another enjoyable story beginning this new series.

Skybreaker is not new to us, being the dragon from the previous Nine Isles series, but this time, the adventure is back to when he was much younger.

This is the tale of Althius, the purple-haired dragonkind and the troubling new king of the fifth isle and its inhabitants.

It's well-written and filled with action and magic. It has a great sense of place, a villain and a fight for justice - the perfect fantasy.

Recommended.

I love this story that gives us some of the history of the nine isles, dragons, and dragonkind. Althia is a great character, she is strong and hardheaded with a huge heart. We also see a young Skybreaker and get to know him as well. You do not need to read this series after the quest of the nine isles series, it can be read either way. The story starts with murder, and ends in a cliffhanger. I immediately dove into the next book!

An exciting start to the new series!

The writing is good, the story enthralling and very close to what happens when a despicable tyrant rises, the feelings strong and poignant.

Well done, I'm really looking forward to read more!

The story was slow to get to action. And although her world fell apart and she began doing spy work it never felt like Althia was in real danger.

This book was an ok read. The story was a little boring and the characters were kind of bland. I really don't know if I will read the next one.

I have not been disappointed.
What an amazing read. Twists and turns, happiness and heart break.
This collaboration between C. Greenwood and Ellis Archer is wonderful.
I found it hard to put down and had to read it twice within 3 days and both times I was sad to get to the last page.
We find ourselves on the Island of Chythus, the 5th Isle and the story paints an amazing land into your imagination.
I love the hero Althia and could feel her pain at times. Then there is my favourite Skybreaker the young powerful Dragon. I wish I had my own Skybreaker.

If you enjoyed C. Greenwoods other novels I am sure like me, this new series will find a place in your heart next to the Legends Dimmingwood, the Magic of Dimmingwood, Catalysts of Chaos and Quest of the 9 Isles.
