Rate this book
Did you know that saffron can make you calmer? Or that tulsi protects you against pollution? Or that turnips and radishes clarify your complexion? Whoever said that great skin is purely genetic has obviously never harnessed the power of beauty foods. While it is possible to fake great skin with make-up, you can only be truly radiant when you nourish your body from within. From basic garden-variety fruit and vegetables to potent Ayurvedic herbs, this book tells you what to eat to ensure beauty inside and out. Build strength and immunity, brighten and clarify your skin and obtain peace of mind with these potent Indian remedies. These combinations, recipes, home-made face masks, oils and morning infusions will transform not just your skin but also your body and mind. After all, outer beauty is only a symptom of inner health.

This was nine out of twenty in 2020.

I've been trying to get my hands on Glow by Vasudha Rai for such a long time now, and finally I found it. But, I was somewhat disappointed. I was expecting less rigidity in the chapters and thought it read more like a genuine beauty book with tips and tricks and experiences but it reads more like a nutrition book which discusses a catalogue of Indian superfoods, their benefits, and applications.

There's three sections, but the chapters are broken down the same. Each chapter discusses the description of a superfood, its scientific application, Ayurvedic application, and finally there's a few recipes using that superfood. It's a fairly quick read because I got through it in a day, but I made some changes to my diet already such as eating Amla chutney everyday and drinking Saraswati leyham in milk everyday. It's definitely a book that will motivate you to appreciate the rich Indian diet and will push you into clean living. It's just that if you are expecting it to be a beauty book, you'll be a bit disappointed.

In todays world of fad diets and confusion around all the food items, author has made a great emphasis on telling us to stick to our traditional indian food recipe because of the time tested and well balance herbs, spices, oils and vegetables in it. The glow on our face and hair doesn’t comes from any shortcut or pill. It needs to be worked upon by clean and traditional eatings. She had shared many recipe to help us improve our health overall. All the discussions in this book has been backed with sceintific reasoning. A nice read for everyone. Kind of revising our own traditional food concepts.

A book to start the new year in the right way. This book is not a short cut to glowing skin. It is more of "glow" comes from within sort of book. So if you are patient enough to embrace a sustainable and healthy living, this book might be for you.

I am a person who eats healthy and exercises on a regular basis. But gut health is something I am really concerned about and this book gave me many suggestions for improving that. I feel that this book will have at least one valuable take away for everyone.

This book came to me at the right time! I love the simplicity of this book. Most importantly, is the while giving an explanation for each ingredient, the author brings in the scientific and traditional perspectives. There are recipes, too; which makes it even more motivational to bring in the ingredients. By the time I completed the book, I had placed an order for some of the much needed ingredients for my own wellbeing, as well as the wellness of my family. This book further validates my belief that food is medicine.

Loved the book. Has good info on the Indian super foods. Found it as an interesting read - knowing the benefits of food that we casually eat everyday and ignore. Also for every food mentioned, recipes are also given which really motivates one to try after having read the benefits. Inspired me to eat healthier. A must read for someone who want to start off on healthy eating.
