A great fun plot and has all the hormone induced craziness in it that anyone having been, or know someone, pregnant will be able to relate too. Okay it was pretty obvious who the culprit was but for entertainment value this is a great read. Loved it. Six months pregnant, hormones running riot, feeling like a beached whale and crying at even silly commercials she didn't expect to find the body behind the diner. Thinking at first it was just a harmless prank until her eyes caught up with her brain. Now Zee wants her to investigate whilst Simon wants her firmly out of it. Surely just asking a few questions couldn't hurt? The more they find out about the victim the more suspects they have. Can they find the killer before he finds them? What will she do if he threatens her or her baby?
Rose has stumbled into yet another murder scene . Feeling awkward and awash with pregnancy hormones she just wants to eat waffles, nap and play with her dogs. Her over protective detective husband wants her,to stay away from the investigation, but the, suspects keeps wanting to tell their side of the story.
Of course the murderer is unmasked, and we get updates on all of Rose's diner family. The series is as much about the relationships between people in her small town as it is about Rose finding murderers. She and her friends grow with each adventure.
The stories are ok, if predictable. But this author needs a decent proofreader. The grammar is bad enough, but entire paragraphs are copied and pasted to new locations, but not erased from the first location. Character names change mid book- in this book, Carol became Claire. I think Herman and Whitey are the same person, but can one be sure?
A "mommy mummy" and black waffles are part of the Halloween plans until a body turns up and ends 6 months without a murder. This time Zee brings the suspects to Rose for The Conversation.
Halloween can be scary enough without having a day of a death added to it! Add frightening pumpkins and murder to the mix ups the horror. Put a "baby momma protecting her unborn child makes it chilling! Sad to realize this book completes this series.
