Reading Dog Faces is a book about the analysis of the dog's behaviour according to the movement of the facial muscles.
The book is divided into:
Introduction - it explains what the book is about, how and why.
Non-Verbal Communication - this part analyses non-verbal communication and its use, including in human beings. It explains how it works in general terms and why it is important.
FACS - the F.A.C.S. (facial action coding system) method for decoding human expressions.
Emotional FACS - how the F.A.C.S. method is applied to emotions.
Dog FACS - how F.A.C.S. works in dogs.
Emotional dog FACS - how to analyze the movements of dog's facial muscles to decode canine emotions.
Relevance of ear movement - how the movement of the ears is in the dog important for facial communication.

Antonio Meridda è un etologo e uno scrittore. Nato a Cagliari, nella bellissima ma isolata Sardegna, si è laureato in scienze naturali con una testi sugli isopodi terrestri, quegli importantissimi animali che si appallottolano sotto le pietre. Ha lasciato la sua isola per fare un master in giornalismo scientifico e diventare poi life coach, camminando sui carboni ardenti e ipnotizzando, oltre le persone, conigli e lucertole. Ha studiato comunicazione avanzata come PNL, ipnosi e linguaggio del corpo (quello usato in Lie to Me). Con una tesi sul linguaggio del corpo del cane è diventato etologo, e grazie a ciò ha fatto da oratore a Lincoln, Inghilterra. Ha tentato per anni - e tutt'ora insiste - di dimostrare l'evoluzione del cervello dei coccodrilli. Nel frattempo, è tornato agli isopodi, che, pur se meno affascinanti, non minacciano di staccargli le mani mentre li osserva.
