Do You Take this Man, Elli Moon?

Rate this book

Do You Take This Man, Elli Moon? celebrates the twists and turns of friendship, life, and yes, romance.

Sure, Elli Moon knew she was in a bit of a slump.
Not your typical bride-to-be.

But wasn't all that wedded bliss stuff just a lot of hype to sell single-use dresses? Old-fashioned and silly?

She wasn't worried about being un-bridal. Blasé about her nuptials. Not until the 10 days leading up to her wedding.

When she happened to accidentally stumble into an adventure involving her celebrity crush and a mysterious murder.

An ultimately confronts a secret about her own self.

"Hilarious. A delight!" — my mom

Prepare yourself: Get comfortable and turn off your ringer. This is a book you won't want to put down. A perfect summer read.

This isn’t the type of book I normally read, but I’m so glad I did! This novel had me hooked from the first chapter, and charmed me with its hilarious cast of characters and fast pace.

Told from multiple characters' points of view, the story kept me guessing and the one-liners kept me turning the page. (One of my favourite lines describes a celebrity actress' skimpy bikini as "something that seems so hesitantly constructed it might have been embroidered by tiny elves using dental floss and optimism". Ha!

This book is, no doubt, a romantic comedy. But it's also poking fun at our media and image-obsessed culture, how we present an image of ourselves to the outside world and the lengths we go to in order to maintain it. It has fun with this theme and is deliberately over the top with it, and I'm glad it didn't get moralistic about it.

I laughed out loud so many times and had a smile on my face throughout. How can you go wrong with references to Magnum PI, Madonna and Point Break? Definitely recommend for your next holiday or anytime you want to just escape for awhile and need a laugh. Pure enjoyment.

This book cracked me up. It took me a little bit of time to get into it, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. Chantal Eustace's writing style reminded me of Carl Hiassen— similar pacing and wild happenings, the whole thing loaded with humour. A very entertaining read. Looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next!

This book is amazing! It is lighthearted and fun. I couldn’t put it down and as a result ended up staying up past midnight reading this novel.
“Do you take this man, Elli Moon?” is a novelty among adult/ young adult books because it’s characters don’t feature only one layer and no one is a stock character. It also addresses issues in our day-to-day society.
I love each and everyone of these characters and their unique personalities.
I recommend this book to every guy and girl of any age looking for a lighthearted comedy .

This a laugh out loud, contemporary tale. Like Jane Austen in her time, the author pokes fun at twenty-first-century living, including our health obsession and desire for perfect bodies and eternal youth. It is written in multiple points of view, which I often find confusing, but is done well as each chapter is told by one person. The story is chock full of interesting characters. I loved all of them with their individual quirks and idiosyncrasies. If you enjoyed Bridget Jones's Diary, you will love this book.

This book is amazing! I first heard about it going through Instagram and this came up. I read a small snippet of it on amazon to see if I will like it and I did! I instantly fell in love with it and quickly ordered my copy on amazon. It was delivered pretty fast after the Christmas holidays and I couldn’t put it down since. The characters are very well written and I do love how there is room for character growth. I also love how every character’s personality is so colorful and they all have their own edge to it as i am reading from their point of view. I really love this book and I’m so happy to add it to my growing book collection! I totally recommend anyone to read this book! It’s so funny and very entertaining! I can’t wait to read more of Chantal’s work.

When I first started reading this book I wasn’t sure I was going to finish. It was lots of characters and I wasn’t invested in any of them. That turned for me somewhere around the half way mark. It turned out to be a very unconventional love story that warmed my heart.

Elli Moon is supposed to be marrying her fiancé in 10 short days, and yet she finds herself kissing an old flame that's not her betrothed. Her friends and family are all concerned - cold feet or something bigger? Avoiding the conversation she should be having with her fiancé, Elli does a favor for her publicist friend and plays chauffeur to former child star Fergal Harrington (who she just happened to have a crush on as a child). Instead of checking him into his hotel immediately, she makes a requested detour to a party where madness ensues, taking them to a remote cabin, to Hawaii, and back again for her wedding.

This would have gotten more stars from me, but I just didn't like all the cheating. Elli was not a great fiancé and I really just felt bad for her husband to be. And Fergal just didn't respect any boundaries, to the point of being borderline inappropriate and not really romantic to me. The story also jumped around a lot to different characters' viewpoints and was a little hard to follow.

This was a pretty quick read and there were definitely some funny moments. I'll probably check out other works by this author as her writing style is fun, I just could have done without some of the elements of this particular storyline.

Thank you to the author, Chantal Eustace, and Goodreads Giveaways for providing a free copy of this book.

As a retired fellow, I suspect I am not the demographic at which this book is aimed. Very likely, women "of a marriageable age" would find this more entertaining. Much of it probably went over my head. I had trouble keeping the characters straight, as their differences from my own circle outweighed the differences between them. Still, it was an entertaining story, and an educational peek into the world of the author, my former yoga teacher.

This is a great read when you need something lighter, to lift the spirit. So funny! So many quirky characters. This is one of those books you can't put down, and you're sad when it ends. Oh so sweet, and so well written. Absolutely loved it!

I loved reading this book – I read it so quickly, it was hard to put down! A great assortment of characters, and plotline twists kept me guessing and interested. This book has something for everyone: romance, laughs, mystery, and travel. There was even suspense! I wondered what was going to happen right through to the last chapter. There are so many hilarious descriptions and characters in here – I definitely had some good chuckles to myself, and laughed out loud more than a few times! I love that it pokes fun at some of the characters (who are all in some way people we may know, including ourselves). So many good lines in here ☺ Well done Chantal! I look forward to the sequel – I hope you’re writing one! ♡

I've never sat down and read this type of book before. Usually lean towards non-fiction or adventure fiction — anything with boats!
This book though? It was so funny. I enjoyed how the fast-pace and the way all the characters were so funny and different. I finished it in a few days and highly recommend it for anyone.
Great job Chantal! (What's next?)

A romantic comedy that exposes the many character flaws of the many characters. The storyline is humorous but a bit chaotic and sporadic. Sadly, the characters were underdeveloped; it was also amazing that any of them could survive, socially and economically.

In summary, an easy to read and enjoyable story. The prose is often witty and clever, but at other times falls flat. A good beach read, but I never connected with the characters.

I received the Kindle version of Elli Moon as part of a giveaway. It took me a little white to really get into the story. The book has a little romance, suspense and is unpredictable enough not to be boring.

I really enjoyed this book! It was light, but had good messages. It had everything: romance, comedy & a whodunnit. I found it a bit slow to get into initially, but for most of the book I couldn’t put it down! The characters we very relatable & funny.

I won a Kindle Edition of this book through a Goodreads giveaway several years ago. (It took me a while to get around to reading it)

This book is very much a soap opera. I used to watch soap operas with my mom while growing up, but we both lost interest in it over time. None of the characters in this story are likeable. There is too much cheating, too much lying, too much sex, too much foul language... Some of the subplots were never resolved. My husband asked me why I was still reading it if I didn't really enjoy it and I told him at that point I just wanted to find out what happens at the end.

I'm sorry it wasn't my type of book and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but if you enjoy soap operas I'd tell you to go ahead and read it for yourself.
