Hutch

Rate this book
Gregory Hutchinson: gentle, harmless and different. A teenager struggling against a baffling and often hostile world, home and school are the two places where he should feel safe. But this is 1959 and there is little understanding and tolerance of kids who don’t fit the mould.

Derek Baldwin is a teacher ahead of his time and, when Hutch becomes the butt of bullies, he offers understanding and support. But Hutch deals with the aftermath of his terrible experiences in his own indomitable way and not everyone sees things as he does.

A moving portrayal of a quirky and endearing young man overwhelmed by ignorance and insensitivity, Hutch’s story will make you smile, understand, feel sad and experience his pain.
