Volume The Insider's Guide to Trading is a practical and informative resource for traders looking to master the world of trading. Trader Dale's expertise and experience are evident in his writing, making this book a worthwhile read for anyone serious about trading. Some prior knowledge of trading concepts is helpful, but the author's explanations make the book accessible to beginners and experienced traders alike.
Don't let the title fool you. The "book" is full of CANDLE charts and most of them don't have volume attached to them. They all seem to be picked to prove a point. We all know that you can take any chart and start explaining what happened, where is the support, etc. The problem is nobody trades retrospectively. In the beginning the author tells us that he wrote the "book" in order to help us, the average Joe to beat the "big boys" in their game, but I read it like a sales pitch for his tools, services and trainings. I wonder, if he is so successful as he describes, why bother doing trainings for other people? Maybe he is just altruistic?
A fine book for someone who is starting to study volume profile, what it means, and some basic strategies.
The book has some good setup trades examples at the end, which makes things easier to understand, but one critical point is not explaining thoroughly which part of the chart to be selected to draw the volume profile. Apart from the daily/weekly/session POC, how to select congestions/start of a trend?
Anyway, I recommend this book, as there aren't many of this kind around.
I think the author did a good job of putting a lot of helpful info in this little book. However, there are a ton of typos and errors, especially in the early chapters. There are also many places where the author describes a chart and then the chart is missing. I'm primally a stock swing trader, but like reading about other styles and asset classes. I did learn some new things here and it's cool to see some approaches I would never consider or be able to pull off. But it's really hard to get past the errors. Editors are needed! I say that as a guy who self published a Kindle book on trading and bummed I let a few errors slip through. Again, no disrespect to the author. Consider editing and reposting. Thank you for your hard work and obvious passion for trading.
It is just a Meh book about a strategy which Dale swears by and promotes a lot on his YouTube channel. There isn't really anything you can learn from this that you can't learn from just watching his videos and I think he has said the same thing in his videos a couple of times which I commend him for.
I've tried backtesting a few of the strategies in the book, specifically the Volume Profile, numerous times, but the win-rate has been consistently low and unprofitable, especially when being mechanical about the trading (trading fully based on his criteria and no intuition or discretion), which is what makes me think that the examples he gives in the book are hand picked specifically because of their flawless execution.
Dale does say that this is by no means a perfect strategy and that is obvious, but I don't think I can go as far as to say that it is even a profitable strategy, atleast not when using VP alone, and based on his recent YT videos it seems like he is now promoting the idea of using VP alongside other indicators and tools.
All of this doesn't mean that the book useless, there are still some information about how the market is being made and such which is informative to new traders, but my review is only about the Volume Profile strategy which the book is named after.
What I liked the most was the simple explanation of what he does to be a successful trader. I have been through many different teachers and methods but none could actually teach me to be a consistent successful trader The book was what led me to become a lifelong member at a time in life I’d rather trust my own trading vs. financial guru’s that can’t seem to explain why their recommended trades weren’t working Its worth the money
This was an excellent read on Volume Profiles and how to trade setups based on them. It really solidified the understanding of where to get in and where to get out based high volume nodes showing where institutional traders reside. It also gave me an eye opening look into how retail traders only make up less than 4% of all volume and most volume is done by 10 major banks. If I want to make money, I need to learn to follow the big traders.
I've had somethings confirmed and I also learned alot. This book was money well spent. It's a ton of knowledge and useful insight. This is a must have book for any serious trader.
There are plenty of examples. I mean real life examples. Do your self a favor and purchase this book. Thank you Dale
I love the idea of being able to trade with just price action and volume. This book will show you how. Very good read. The author explains everything clearly. He is to the point and no fluff in this book. This is a must read,
I've gone through many strategies, theories & ideas. However when I read this book from Trader-Dale, i was surprised how simply he has explained volume profile and it's usage in both intraday and swing trading. The content of this book is very simple to follow with lots of examples, charts & is also to the point. At $4.99, it's a steal!
I’m immensely grateful to Dale for having written such a great and honest guide to his system. I love the no BS straight up and honest approach he has to his explanations. In the world of forex trading where there are many flakes and people just trying to get a quick buck off you, it’s a nice change to learn from someone who seems to truly walk the talk and then be totally open and honest about how he does it. Thank you Dale for being so open with your method and helping others get into the world of forex trading!
