She left the Darkweb to protect her son. But when her worst fears become reality, the only way to save him will be to dive back in.

Haley Ramos left the world of hacking to protect her baby. But when she goes back to her old tricks to shut down a human trafficking ring, she’s drawn into the very situation she most her son’s life in exchange for a ransom only she can produce. Even for her, stealing the digital crown jewels to some of the most powerful and high profile organizations in the world is likely to put her behind bars, or worse, in the grave.

Racing against time and through cyberspace, Haley is backed into the darkest corners of the internet to meet the kidnapper’s demands. She’ll stop at nothing to get her baby back, even if it means working with her ex-husband again. But nothing is certain on the Darkweb, and Haley must decide what, and who, she is willing to sacrifice to hold her son again.

Reading this book was like a compulsion. I couldn't put it down! The pacing has you at the edge of your seat rooting for the Haley to make that next risky move and begging for more. It pulls you in so deep that you have to know who these people are, how they got to this position and how in the world they plan on getting out of it.

Ransomware brings an alternative world that we as readers haven't truly experienced before. The author created an environment where the world of hacking was brought to life in an alternative world, much like Ready Player One, and it makes the story more engaging because we're living it in person, versus being told the real world alternative of a person typing away at a screen. It was a fun way to keep the story moving without falling into many of the "hacker" stereotypes we normally see.

Ransomware is unlike any book I have ever read with a refreshing perspective on a untapped world in the reading industry. If the tease of the first two chapters of the next book are any indication, we are in for a wild, adrenaline-filled ride for the sequel! This author is definitely one that we will all need to keep an eye on.

Good story in the Nueromancer tradition

Not as dense add Gibson's story, which is actually a good thing. Good characterization and a good story make for an enjoyable read.. There are a few minor editing issues, but most are easily fixed. Using 'site' when it should have been 'sight' for example. Transitions from real world to cyber can be ... well, sometimes non-existent. The first time it happened I had to go back and see if I missed something. But surprisingly, once you know to expect it, it works very well.

In Ransomware the real world is our world. The cyber world is cyberpunk net. And hacking is pretty much real world hacking told with cyberpunk imagery. It's a good story, told well, and I'm looking forward to the next book.
