Cute illustrations, not so busy pages, easy to identify words with the illustrations. A good place to start with kids learning language.

PLAYDATE is a picture book for very young readers (and/or their parents or older siblings to read to them). One reader/reviewer, Tatiana, captures the appeal of the book this way, “I read it to my two-year-old daughter when I got it and she's already made me read it to her again 3 times. We love it, Thank you!”
The book’s concept is four-word poems over 28 pages. Each word is complemented by a picture illustrating the word. The illustration for “stop,” for example, shows a girl pulling on her dog’s leash to keep the dog from running in the street against a red light. “Go” shows two children, one on a bicycle and one on a scooter. “Fast” is four children on a merry-go-round with a dog racing around it. “Slow” is a girl pulling a skateboard with her dog sleeping on the skateboard and two other children walking. The poem here is “Stop. Go. Fast. Slow.”
The illustrations are warm, crisp and colorful on a white background. A dog and a cat give children something else to look at.
Keeping in mind the book is for pre-schoolers, I’m rating it five stars. (It’ll also be a Christmas present.)

Beautiful, Colorful, Wonderful Messages, Perfect for Little Hands!
PLAYDATE - Authored by Maryann Macdonald and Illustrated by Rahele Jomepour Bell is a beautiful Board book with colorful pictures that would definitely gain the attention of any youngster.
This book is fun to read - with pictures and words that are simple – yet the messages it shares make a big impact. This is a perfect book for an adult and child to share together (especially before going on a PLAYDATE!)

Read it to my daughters, the three year old and three month old both loved it! The three month old loved the pictures and obviously my voice reading to her, but even though it is a simple book (that would have helped teach my older daughter at a bit younger of an age she still loved being able to show off her smarts by pointing out things and she loved the dog and cat that were taking part in the play date too!

A book with precious illustrations, few words, and rhyming text. The only page that I didn't truly like was the "good" page, which shows a child sharing watermelon with another child, and the "bad" page, which shows the dog with a cookie in their mouth. The book could have been made just a little bit better, in my opinion, if there was a visibly disabled child amongst the group, too.

I will be giving this to my 9 month old granddaughter for Christmas. Nice bright illustrations and solid structure. Thank you so much! I know we will get many minutes of enjoyment out of it together.

This is a picture book, but the text is just 2 opposite words. "Good. Bad. Happy. Sad." The pictures enhance the words, making it easier for those learning to read.

The pictures are adorable, the text is essentially non-existent: "Stop" "Go" "Good" "Bad" etc. It won't work for story time, but would be great as a lap read.

This is a fine beginning reader text. It rhymes and the text and the illustrations are well matched. Not much of a story to discern. One-word sentences describe scenes from a playdate.
