In this work, Juan Domingo Argüelles reviews the redundancies, poor pronunciation, and other linguistic gaffes that both the educated and uneducated commit. In addition, he offers a critical view of the linguistics institutions for being antiquated and omitting necessary dictionary entries. Through reading this, hopefully, a reader will learn to avoid the atrocities we say and write in Spanish.

Estudió lengua y literatura hispánicas en la facultad de Filosofía y Letras en la UNAM. Ha sido coordinador de publicaciones periódicas de la Dirección General de Publicaciones de CONACULTA, y subdirector de la revista Tierra Adentro. Es columnista de temas culturales en los diarios El Financiero, El Universal y La Jornada. Colabora habitualmente en las revistas Libros de México, Quehacer Editorial y El Bibliotecario, revista de la Dirección general de CONACULTA
