Brothers, Antony and Sonny Luciano grew up knowing exactly what their lives would hold. Antony, driven by power and money, is prepared to take over the streets his father runs. Sonny reluctantly surrenders to a similar fate until their mother’s fresh talk about her faith births in him a hope of a better future. One bullet changed their destinies forever. After years of working the streets his father once ran, Antony reunites with his brother to find Sonny has not only obtained the power and money Antony craves, but also the woman he loves. The brothers must put aside their animosity toward each other so they can work together to protect those they love.
I usually abandon a book as soon as I realize I'm not enjoying it. I didn't like this from the beginning. The characters are unsavory and unlikable, and their actions are evil at worst and inappropriate at best. I kept reading, however, because this is billed as Christian fiction, and I was looking for a redemption story. I expected a coming to faith that would change the characters into new creations. However, throughout the book, the closest thing to anything Christian was Victoria's refusal to have sex before marriage. That is certainly an appropriate stance for a Christian to take, but other people have those morals if not the faith. Even though she claimed to be a Christian, she ignored the brothers' actions, that ranged from immoral to illegal. And she was torn between the two brothers, claiming to love both of them.
I persevered to the end looking for redemption, only to find the book is a cliffhanger. There was a partial resolution of the romantic situation--she did choose one of the brothers, but nothing else was completely resolved. I wish authors would indicate in descriptions of series if it's necessary to read all the books to get the full story rather than blindsiding readers.
If you've read Absolution and Mercy, the first two books of the Luciano series, you might have wondered how the family saga began. What was it that catapulted Sonny into the lead position of the lofty family business while Antony was left to struggle for their father's affections? What made Victoria choose one brother over the other? Read all about it in this book.
Not my favorite genre, with Italian connections to crime, etc. The two men vyying for one woman was an interesting twist. Lots of typos and formatting errors in this. Story was pretty good, with lots of action.
The story was good I just don’t like the confusion. It’s no real explanation of why she chose sonney over tony. I get he was softer but in their lives I think tony is better suited but oh well. Still good
I hated liking this book! One woman with two men....two brothers....so in love with her that they let her string them along. Crazy. And she didn't even sleep with either one. Haha....This book should have been listed in the "fantasy" category!
It's one of the absolute BEST books I have ever read! It's leads us into this amazing spiral of other plot holes. BEAUTIFUL work of art and the author is so sweet! My very favorite author. If you're someone who loves to freak out reading books, this one is for you!
The plot was interesting and the characters intriguing. Not the kind I usually read but it kept me reading. Liked the way it ended but left one hint of the next book.
Victoria has to choose between two handsome suitors. She is also looking for her mom who disappeared. It's a complicated, plot twisting suspenseful romance.
