Writing Across a Cracked World: Hindu Representation and the Logic of Narrative

Rate this book
Writing Across a Cracked World is a guide for anyone who is concerned about the growing Hinduphobic bias and bigotry in mainstream media and academia narratives and wishes to do something about it.

If your goal is to strengthen the emerging Hindu narrative through any form of writing--books, novels, articles, blog posts, or even tweets--this book will help you. The premise of this book is that it is possible to remain true to your own convictions, and at the same time communicate fearlessly and credibly with a wider audience, including those who have not yet come to recognize the deceptions and dangers of unchecked Hinduphobia.

By mapping out the present terrain of media and academic Hinduphobia carefully, Vamsee Juluri shows you , with many examples from his own experience, how to challenge and change narratives armed with something as simple as reason and language.

Brilliantly written book for people who want to indulge writing for Indic cause. It talks about the prevailing anti-Hindu bias in academia, media and pop culture and also comprehensively guides the reader on how to effectively counter it. Prof Juluri's insights are extremely valuable for people to understand how to breach the movement and not get confined the corner.

Vamsee Juluri in his latest book "Writing across a cracked world" decides to help novice writers in improving their game and does a good job at it. But, this book is not just for novice writers. Its for people who wish to "strengthen the emerging Hindu narrative" and the book certainly presents a broad sketch with some specific pointers.

After racing up and down the mountains along with Hanumanji in Vamsee's earlier book "Saraswati's Intelligence", I was now brought under the shade of a banyan tree for an honest, open learning session. Even as I was reading the book, I could not stop thinking about how the contents could be used in a small group discussion across different age groups.

Not only do you get a concise report on the existing "normal" but also how we can take this to a "New Normal" and the book gets organized accordingly as two sections, "Narratives" and "Writing".
Some of my favorite parts included:
(#) Power of words - " They will wear the cruel stones away"
(#) Popularize your own vocabulary
(#) The efficacy of the "Lord Narasimha Yukti"
(#) Case Studies

Grab your copy if you wish to articulate your thoughts better in propelling the Movement upward and beyond the "apologists of medievalism" aka "the global Rich Left".
