My Name is Jason Night. I’m a SWAT TEAM commander and former Marine. I’ve experienced a lot of crazy shit in my life, and I don’t scare easily. At least not until today. After seeing my whole team get wiped out by a succubus and nearly dying myself, I’ve been recruited by a mysterious sorceress to become a soldier in a new war.
A WAR AGAINST MAGIC AND MONSTERS.
An evil web of darkness threatens our world, a global network of black wizards and creatures of the night known as the Cabal. They are everywhere and nowhere. Controlling our society from the shadows. Leading us toward the apocalypse.
THE TIME HAS COME TO FIGHT BACK.
I faced terrorists abroad, battled criminals in the rough streets of Los Angeles, but nothing prepared me for the next chapter in my life. I have to master magic and spells, battle vampires and shifters, warlocks and witches, demons and ghosts. And resist the charms of monsters as seductive as they are deadly. One thing is for sure—the future won’t be boring.
JASON NIGHT IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE NIGHT SLAYER.
DISCLAIMER: NIGHT SLAYER is a Supernatural Action Adventure Urban Fantasy. This novel features graphic violence, cursing and harem situations.
Fast paced, with action right from the start! This looks to be the start of another excellent series from William Massa. I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment. If you like the urban fantasy genre, this is one to read.
I have picked up more than one series of adventure novels by the author William Massa. In many ways, they remind me of the 'men's adventure' fiction I grew up on (Think The Executioner, The Destroyer, etc.). The books are short, compared to today's adventure fiction. The stories get to the action very quickly and there is action o'plenty! Night Slayer reminds me of those '70's novels even more because there is a healthy dose of sex written into the plotline. I'm no prude, but I don't know how much of the 'harem-style' I want to read. Overall, not bad at all. If you like your action sprinkled with some x-rated encounters, then Midnight War is definitely for you! Pretty good stuff, Maynard.
There were a few inconsistencies, and misspellings, but they detracted very little from the story, and I still thoroughly recommend it as a pretty damn good read.
Nightslayer is an action-packed book written by William Massa. I liked some of the other books written by this author so I figured I would give this one a try and was pleasantly rewarded. The start of this series had an interesting concept and I liked the concept of the "nightslayer" and how he is fighting the Cabal. The plot is interesting and has some nice twists worked into it.
The pace of the book was just right and had a constant flow of things happening, never leaving you wishing for something. Jason Night was dealt quite the hand and is struggling with the new world he is thrown in. Thankfully he has some help along the way.
I am curious to see where the author will take this series. I for one think he has an interesting series planned and am interested in reading more.
I continue to enjoy this author's work. If you like occult detective stories with fast paced action, step up to Night Slayer. There are elements that remind me of Kolchak, Elric and MHI. None of which overwhelm the story, they just brought more of a connection for me as a long time fan of the urban fantasy and occult adventure sub genres. Look for William Massa and download confidently.
Really enjoyed this first book in this series. Jason finds himself in a new world and has a lot to learn. He is doing alright so far, look forward to the next book.
Good tale starring a SWAT member who unfortunately encountered a demon. What happened after he was rescued is an adrenaline-filled adventure. Look forward to next book.
A good solid start! This reads like you are watching a TV series which isn't a bad thing. The story of the Night Slayer moves at a fast pace and you are soon dragged along for the ride, good action and snapoy dialogue. I like the idea that the good guys lost the initial war and now are beginning to fight back and the "batcave" exists in a temporal pocket that can appear almost anywhere is cool. If you like Blade and others of the ilk then you should enjoy this!
It's a well written book and I certainly enjoyed the journey. Fast pace, page turning and all in all a decent investment of my time. I would recommend it.
This is another one of those books that I just picked, not randomly, but at least a bit on a whim when browsing around just to find something simply and different from all the (too many) book series that I have going. I have to admit that I didn’t exactly do any thorough research about what I was getting into.
It is not really a bad book but it is definitely a book for the younger audience. The story has quite a bit of teenage-wet-dream over it.
A kick-ass SWAT team commander gets a firsthand experience of the fact that there are things that go bump in the night. He becomes the sole survivor of the experience when a witch (female and gorgeous of course) saves his life and recruits him to combat the dark forces. Part of the recruitment process includes the witch lending him her magical powers and here is where it goes teenage-wet-dream already. The process of doing so is…to have sex. Yeah, right.
Luckily the book is not completely filled with these kinds of events although there are a fair amount of them. Like magical servants turning into gorgeous women on demand and that kind of nonsense.
When our hero is not screwing female members of the species, or being screwed by them, he is actually doing some hero stuff though. The story and the action is not bad but it is the kind of stuff you would find in a script for a decent fantasy TV show. Again, for the younger (male) audience though.
I did enjoy the book but it is a don’t-think-just-read type of book. Simple story, lots of action, magic, monsters and that kind of stuff. Obviously it is quite a fast read as well. For me it was a good read for what I wanted, a bit of brain reset that I could read while watching TV at the same time.
One of the best page turners I've read in a while!
Massa keeps the reader engaged from the very beginning to the end. Be it through thrilling action scenes, or methodically divied insight into Massa's magical world, this is a story you could start and finish in one afternoon. I literally only spotted one type in the entire work (which is near impossible.) If anymore exist Massa's story telling is strong enough that you won't notice. Read this book!
While the story itself was very enjoyable the MCs just dragged it down. He was constantly being distracted by sex. Seriously, the literal fate of the world is at stake and all he can think about is sexing up his boss or how hot tge succubus (who is trying to kill him) is. He's like a 16 year old boy, I'm really on the fence about reading the rest of the series.
A good book for fanasy and action/adventure lovers.
If the rest of the series by William Mazda is as good as this book, I will be thoughly pleased. Lots of action, direct to the point without a unnecessary details.
New series from William Massa, this time following Jason Night. Having survived his first taste of the dark arts, Night is saved then recruited by a mysterious sorceress. Good start to the series, darker and more adult themed, then the shadow detective series.
It was kind of hard to get into but I kept going. It became more interesting and had a very different ending than I was expecting. I may have to read the next book.
The death of a law keeper and his team leads to a ressurrection, imbuement with magic and war against demons. Interesting idea and fast paced, full of action, a good read.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Will be reading the second one when I get a free moment to breathe. Definitely interested to see where the author goes with this.
