Welcome to The Berry Home: where the food is to-die-for! Life is sweet for Kylie Berry: rebranding Sarah’s Eatery into her very own The Berry Home, tackling new recipes one step at a time, juggling two gorgeous suitors, and surviving near-death experiences by the skin of her teeth!
"Winters will have you giggling into your book!" When another murder mystery lands smack dab on Kylie’s doorstep—in the most literal way—she swears off her sleuthing in favor of safer pursuits. But then her gorgeous suitor Brad comes calling with a highly unusual request: “I need you to investigate Hank’s murder.”
Brad’s sister, Samantha, is the prime suspect for the murder of her longtime boyfriend Hank Harrison. Out to prove her innocence at all costs, Brad entreats Kylie and her best friend Zoey to do the legwork that the Camden Falls police won’t…
But who wanted to see Hunky Hank dead? A fitness nut and purveyor of fine exercise equipment, Hank was well-liked within the tiny community—at first glance, anyway.
But what about the jealous glares from men envious of his physique? The heated glances from young women he trained with at the gym? Did his business partner stand to make a fortune from Hank’s death? And did Samantha actually have something to gain from her boyfriend’s demise…?
With tech genius Zoey and police offer Brad by her side, Kylie dives headfirst into the mystery of who killed Hank Harrison—and fingers crossed, she’ll make it back to the café before the dinner rush!

A Berry Home Catastrophe is the fifth book in the Kylie Berry Mystery Series. Though it can be read as a standalone, it's best read in series order.
This is a humorous cozy mystery featuring a strong female protagonist, some unusual friends and family, and a mystery that needs solving! It has no graphic gore, bad language or sex. Genre: humorous culinary cozy mysteries, cat cozy mystery series, women amateur sleuths
. This is the fifth book of the 'Kylie Berry Mysteries'. Cousin Sarah had presented the penniless Kylie with an agreement to purchase the restaurant, Sarah's Eatery, along with ownership of the entire block. In this installment, Kylie Berry has learned to make some edible meals. Through the combined efforts of Kylie and her employees, there are fewer items available on the 'Ooops Board'
This storyline is able to captivate the reader with the plot and character interaction. However, it is questionable how a restaurant with inedible food continues to survive with repeat customers. Another aggravation is the grammatical errors creeping in. There were more grammar issues in this installment than remember noticing in the previous ones. they are a bit distracting momentarily. However, the quirky characters, the twist, and turns in the plot, the interactions between the members of the community, and the camaraderie within the restaurant enticed me to get better acquainted this zany cast more fully.
Brad, a local police detective, reached out to Kylie and Zoey to request their assistance in the most recent murder because his sister was the main suspect, of the death of her boyfriend, Hunky Hank. With all her duties at the restaurant, it makes you wonder where Kylie finds the time to join Zoey in questioning people for means, motives, and/or opportunities in regard to the recent murder. True to cozy mystery formula, the heroine and her trusty side-kick, Zoey, are investigating the case. Together, Kylie and Zoey, bumble through their personal style of detecting hoping to find the real killer. Will they succeed?
All in all, this is a CLEAN mystery, that is able to stand on its own, and concludes satisfactorily. However, it will make more sense if the series is read in order.
This book had me guessing constantly, running in circles and zigzagging enough to make my head spin! It is my complete belief that you will not be disappointed that you chose to read it. 😸
Kylie does a lot of growing in his book and we see thing start to come together at the cafe as well as her life but there is still plenty of work to be done. While balancing life and the cafe now Brad has asked for her help to find who killed his sisters boyfriend... yup the Brad who never wants Kylie to interfere with police asked her to look into a murder!!! There are plenty of suspects from gym bunnies, potential roid users and of course Brad's sister for Kylie and Zoey to work through and they find out more than one surprising thing but also come across more than one dead end. And yes you will be left with question about other characters at the end of the book which makes me want to read the next book as soon as its out!!
This series is a hoot! The characters are so colorful and I love reading about Kylie's cooking efforts. I would love a diner like her's with the OOPS Menu. Kylie & Zoey are a great team for solving murders and always fun. It's fun to see who's going to die in each book and how Kylie is going to get roped into investigating the murder. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A very enjoyable cozy mystery! Poor Kylie Berry! She could win the title of America’s Worst Cook! It’s amazing how anyone could be that bad a cooking. However, she is very lucky as no one has killed her yet & it’s not from lack of trying! It’s a cute murder mystery with a few twists that would be a fun beach read. I only wish she would make a choice between Joel & Brad.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading another story of Kylie berry and her gang of friends no disappointment, each series shows Kylie gaining confidence with her cooking somewhat with help of her unusual friend's and solving crimes with her side partner Zoey the computer tech.
I love these mysteries. I never know who the killer is on these books, which is great for me. I also like the humor and the fun of her cooking. Just should not read in bed because I want to get a snack
Do Joel or Brad ever get a first date, let alone a second, with Kylie? Do Dan and his Aunt stay out of her life? Does Zoey keep her date with the guitar player? What is Jonathan's secret?
I’m a huge fan of this series and always look forward to what comes next. Kylie is a character we can all relate to and I cringe each time she tries making a new dish! The supporting cast of characters are very well written and add a lot to each story.
If this is your first read in a Kylie Berry Murder series please leave it for later and being with A Berry Deadly Welcome.
Another one bites the dust, of course Kylie kind of just met him, he didn't eat her food, but yes now he's dead and Kylie and crew are off to figure out tge who and the why. Despite the editing errors wonderful solid plot, great characters, and witty dialogue. The big three I need to keep reading. You'll enjoy it too.
So, five books in I'm still reading, and that's a good thing. The stories are cute and generally well written, and I can totally understand a woman who is clueless in the kitchen. That said, won't someone please edit these books! Nothing takes a reader out of a story like subject/verb disagreement or referring to someone by the wrong name or placing an event on the wrong day, any one of which can yank the reader up short and straight out of the book's flow. I will keep reading; Kylie's occasional culinary successes give me hope!
A Berry Home Catastrophe is a hilarious mystery surrounding Kylie Berry whom falls into solving a mystery after a guy falls from her building. This book had some typos and unless the reader read the previous book, some of the characters were new and at times confusing as to whom was whom. This book did keep the ending a surprise until close to the end. Overall this book is hard to put down, funny, and an easy read.
Kylie and her friends have such a fine knack for finding trouble and working everything out in the end. Love that the reader never knows for sure until the end “who done it”. However, I really think it’s time for Kylie to be good at simple cooking. I mean, really, eggs?
A man dies on Kylie's sidewalk. Was her cooking that bad?
Kylie has even more surprises in store. She has a banquet room she didn't know about, and someone was going to rent it out. When Brad her boyfriend's sister is a suspect, he ASKS Kylie to investigate? For real! Kylie gets help cooking and she begins to have hope she can make a success of the restaurant.
They are really finding their footing. The fact that she can’t fry and egg still grates but with all the other characters to buffer that small transgression it makes for a pleasant read. I do have to say I was going to quiet after book 3 but I’m giving it a chance.
Kylie and Zoey crack me up if your like me and love a cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this series by A R Winters is a must read
Full of twists and turns. I love the primary setting in the cafe. I can easily picture it’s coziness in mind. I highly recommend this book to folks who enjoy mystery’s that are not gory. I do wish Ms Winters would include at least one recipe at the end.
Do yourself a favor and read the Kylie Berry series! I love them! I’m not sure what to do when I’ve read them all though.🤷🏻♀️Oooh wait! I’ll check out her other series and wait for the next installment!! Haahaa!
These books are like warm honey on toast, you want to savour it sand really enjoy the characters, they are really well written, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cosy mystery stories.
Such a fun series. The fifth book of the Kylie Berry mystery series. Who killed Hunky Hank? Fast paced, light hearted, with whimsical characters. Danger with giggles and a touch of romance. What's not to like? I look forward to reading the next book.
Can't believe I have read 5 books in this series already. I am so enjoying them. Kylie and her friends are so entertaining and the laugh out loud moments are still included.
Well written, can never see what's going to happen next. Berry is starting over in a new town,, running a cafe. Oh yes by the way, Berry can't cook. She seems to attract dead bodies and killers. Can't wait to sed what happens next.
Will Kylie keep her promise not to investigate any more murders? Will the best friends and best crime solvers get into danger that may rid Camden Falls of its murder mystery solving duo once and for all? While Kylie has to side step her ex-husband while trying to figure out the two hunks hot for her, someone literally dies in front of them all. Was it suicide? Was it murder? How does ex-Aunt Dorothy fit into this murder scene? Only reading will tell the answers.
