When I was younger I never had an answer for the age old question "what would you like to be when you grow up". I went through a phase of believing that I wanted to be a lawyer, an extremely short phase of thinking I wanted to be a doctor and then a veterinarian. None of it lasted. Eventually, I gave up and accepted that I had no idea what or who I wanted to be when I got older and settled for living with it.
Then, at age 14, I was introduced to a world that I never knew existed. Through one of my cousins, I was guided into the world of "fanfiction", a realm of forum threads where self-proclaimed authors created fictional celebrity stories and I immediately fell in love.
Ever since then I've been on a journey that would eventually lead me to the path that I'm traveling today. A new author fighting my way into the literary world on my terms and in my own way.
My main skill set includes urban romance, urban fiction, and just a smidge of supernatural, but my writing mood switches with my regular moods, the life of an Aquarius :)
I’m not at all believing this is a first release. I’m very particular about the books I read. Diction, grammar, character development can make or break a book for me in the first chapter. This book had me at hello. Lol. Absolutely amazing storyline, plot, and characters. Aasim was pressing on my nerves for awhile but I knew it’d be worth it. Amazingggg job!
I loved this story. Asim is bae, I loved how his and Reygan’s story came together. I also loved that nothing was rushed about them being together. I would love to see a story on Laurent, Adelaide, and Chaunce. And I can’t wait for the full book of the sneak peek at the end 🗣🗣
Omg these characters were hilarious! Aasim needed Reygan so he could close his chapter of his life and give him a new one. She tore down his wall and made him lovable again. I loved their relationship. Ade was definitely a positive in Reygan’s life and she needed that because of the situation she was in. I loved this crew and can’t wait for the next installments!
Man this my first book by this author but she has a new fan. Aasim is the man baby. Reygan found love in the mist of trouble. Aasim needed her to help him heal and love again. Man Laurent and Chaunce were fools but I absolutely love the bond between them. Ade was such a living person and welcome Rey with no questions asked. Gabe was delusional and got what he deserved. Really good book cant wait for the next one.
Wow. I still can't believe this was a debut novel. It was sooo good! The cover and title alone had me interested from the beginning but the story itself kept me hooked from beginning to end! I laughed so much and fell in love with the characters. Great, great job Parker Kingston! I am looking forward to the next book.
Even though I know the original story, this was so fresh and interesting to have me read it again. Gabriel was spot on and yes for the fairy tale ending. Please make more of these, especially one for the Little Mermaid.
Wow!!! Very different!!! Should have been a 5 but couldn't do it....
This is my first time reading this author and I must say, I will be reading her again. I couldn't give this story a 5 star because a lot of the passage were to far fetched for me. They were like Mission Impossible type with some Jason Bourne all twisted in an urban kind of vibe. Also, I was completely confused as to where was this island, Lagonos is at as well as Evergland (I think)???? Where are these places? Are there places like that actually? That alone made me not able to relate; and all of those events where you were either thinking of such movies like Mission Impossible or the Professional or even Taken or a series on Netflix like Power etc...was not helping! The next reason were the obvious one such as the main characters. Aasim was the bomb alpha male, badass thug, and drop dead gorgeous male specimen, and extremely loaded and business mogul. Yet he was very simple and if all business specially his arms business was so un stressful and so easy, I think I want to join in and do the same. There was so many unrealistic areas that either needed to be erased or explained better. How does he travel in those jet from this island, which is out of the country, to come to the United States without once mentioning the Feds that he has on his payroll or some type of government people? Because last I check, even private jet, couldn't just be flying in and out of the USA with so much ease. Flight itinerary and all of these other logistics are a must. So some type of explanation would have again squash this notion of surreal. Then we have Raygan..... Boy I don't even know if I would say that she is looney or plain dumb. But you get dropped into an island with no definite time frame or more explanation, and you just roll over and wait... Child please, black woman taken as such, you know there will be hell and a lot of explanation to give. Just because she volunteered to take her father's place, that she needed to stopped being like a dam door mat or a slow puppy. In any case, they were a beautiful couple with an equally beautiful story. And the surrounding crew from Laurent to Ade to Mrs. G to Mrs. P and of course Chaunce was so good it would have brought this book to a 1 star and a half star if I could have given it. Gabriel and Sage deserved what they got and even more. But I must admit that the story as really nice and am looking for Jareem's story that was left a little snippet of at the end.
I would have given this 5 stars but in a couple of places the editing errors were major. Story line and characters are perfect. Definitely would recommend this novel
This read was perfect on my road trip to NOLA. I really enjoyed it so much that I missed out on sleep, because the book was very intriguing. I definitely will be reading more of this authors work. #GreatJob ✨✨✨✨✨
Crazy that the reference ain’t hit me until they have the argument of her coming to eat and if she wasn’t eating with him she would eat at all. They all were a Mess.!!!! Can’t wait for the next one I’m guessing Aladdin....
This read reminded me of beauty and the beast . I’m glad it was a stand-alone because at times it felt very drawn out . The grammar errors was a issue also .
At first I thought this was a paranormal book but once I started reading I realized it was a modern day beauty and the beast. It was beautifully written and I loved the whole storyline
I thoroughly enjoyed Aasim and Reygan's love story. Aasim was a full fledged jerk, but Rey brought out the side of him he thought he lost and have him a new sense of life and light. I enjoyed the back and forth between all the characters lol boyyy they stayed with the come back lol
I really enjoyed this authors debut novel. Putting Beauty and the Beast into urban fiction was a very creative way to tell a romance with some grit. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. I’m giving this 4.5 stars due to the editing issues that didn’t start popping up until the middle of the book.
