Reverend Rock Clark has scoffed at the term “pastor burnout” when he’s heard other pastors use it. Just an excuse for a sabbatical, he once told his wife, Liz. But now he’s eating his words. Eating crow is more like it, and he’s been doing a lot of that lately. Maisy Martin thinks she’s lucky despite having a disappearing daddy and a momma everyone thinks is crazy. Her luck began the day she got caught stealing tomatoes. If not for that fateful day ten years ago, she wouldn’t have Tom and Zell Baker in her life and would likely be drifting from one foster home to another. Her newest spell of luck began the day Liz Clark came to her high school as the new guidance counselor. It was Mrs. Clark who opened the path to helping Maisy save her momma. But she knew in her heart it wasn’t luck—it was a blessing . What do a lucky girl and a burned-out pastor have in common? See for yourself when God brings these two families together. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll be reminded once again how nice it is to live in Park Place, where neighbors help neighbors.
Finding Maisy is very well written, of course, I read the other 6 in this series. Glenda Manus is a wonderful writer. This book is about mental health issues, and how it affects so many people. Lovely story. So glad the couple next door rescued Maisy, and kept her out of the orphans.
Another wonderfully uplifting and inspiring book. Thank you Glenda for providing good wholesome reading for a mature audience. Can hardly wait for your next one.
I can't find enough superlatives to adequately describe this book. As the 7th in the series, this is my seventh to read, and I have already purchased #8. I look forward to sharing it with my husband, as I did this one. Afterword I may start back at the beginning and read those 6 together also. Ms. Manus has a great ability to write sweet, heart-warming, Christian fiction. It is not "sappy" or preachy, but strikes a chord with Christians, at least this one. She includes a delightful balance of humor and pathos, along with pure, down-home wisdom. Colorful and adorable characters abound in her books. They are like new friends to be loved and cherished, so I personally hope she continues writing Southern Grace books for a long, long time. That way, when one book is closed, it isn't so sad saying good-bye. I look forward to meeting many of the same people in the next one -- or however many -- she writes. The characters in Finding Maisy are refreshingly different from any I've met thus far, which underlines the author's depth of understanding of human nature, and her ability to portray them in such lifelike and memorable ways, introducing the reader to many facets of people just like many we know in our "real" lives.
It has been my joy to find so many wonderful world of Christian fiction through my Kindle Unlimited subscription, and the Southern Grace series by Mrs. Manus is no exception to that. I've enjoyed all of the 7 books in the series, and if you started with this one I absolutely recommend you go find the others. I so enjoy the character development and the attention to detail that are foremost in Mrs. Manus' stories; not only can I see the town in my mind's eye, the characters come alive also. Of course I purposefully searched out authors in this genre- the scripture and godly aspect in her writing is a pleasure. Please keep writing, Mrs. Manus.
I've loved every one of the books in this series , but this one was the most touching yet. I feel refreshed, consoled& churched!! This story touched me on so many levels. My parents had a troubled marriage ,so I saw a little of myself in the overachiever Maisy felt she had to be. But I am grateful to be reminded I had folks standing in the spiritual gap for me as does Maisy in this installment. Thank you for reminding us of God's amazing Grace - given so freely to all. God bless the author for writing such an inspiring story,a reminder of God's mercies ,New every morning.
I had forgotten how much I love this series and the wonderful character development that Glenda has so carefully constructed. This has a good mix of our beloved familiar characters with some great new additions. I highly recommend including this book in your Southern Grace reading list!
This final installment in the Southern Graces series is truly heartwarming. It’s s story of God’s grace and how people are able to forgive virtually anything because of the Holy Spirt that is in each of us who know Jesus.
Maisy 15 almost 16. She like VES when th her mother who suffers from bipolar disease and renders her unable to be the mother a young woman needs. Luckily her neighbors , a elderly couple step in to care for Maisy whenever her mother has to grow back in the hospital. Maiden new so lace in the school counselor , Rev Rocks wife who has stepped in to cover her replacement on maternity leave. This brings Maisy into a stable younger family when her Papa, the next door neighbor has to go join the hospital for shortness of breath. On top of all Maisy 's life dilemmas her father who had walked out of their home years ago who still sent money for them, has returned to town terminally sick. This is a wonderful story of how God's live will pull us through any circumstances.
I am 66 years old, and have an 89 year old father. I have many hurts from my childhood. What Maisy did by forgiving her father made me realize it was time to forgive my father, even if he hasn’t asked for it. The reference to Nana Zell using her hands to make the church and steeple brought back a childhood memory of my grandmother doing the same thing! Such a rich story line embedded with God’s grace. I will read this one again!
Hard to say much more about this book. You have to read it to understand. It is so well written with so much love, I just find it difficult to say more. I have read the whole series and each one is better! So if your reading this go to the first book and start from the beginning, you will be blessed.
Heartwarming and well written. This book deals with mental health and it’s effects on not just the person suffering from mental health but how it effects their family and friends as well. Inspiring. I have enjoyed all the books in this series so far and this one did not disappoint.
