As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻

#1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!

Erpressung, Eifersucht, Missgunst und ein vom Pech verfolgter Kogoro. Conan hat wieder ordentlich zu tun und muss einige Dramen und Motive aufdecken, sowie Täter überführen und Kogoro ist noch weniger eine Hilfe als zuvor, vor allem, als dieser sich selbst außer Gefecht setzt, aber Conan hat auf jeden Fall die Detektive Boys hinter sich. Im ersten Fall wird der scheinbare Selbstmord der Schwiegertochter aufgeklärt. Danach geht es zusammen mit Ran und Kogoro ans Meer, was vor allem für eine junge Frau zur großen Gefahr wird. Danach landet der tollpatschige Kogoro im Krankenhaus und die Detective Boys müssen eine Entführung aufklären, bei der ihnen die Zeit im Nacken sitzt. Anschließend soll Kogoro für zwei Brüder ein Rätsel lösen, was für größere Überraschungen sorgt, als zunächst angenommen und zuletzt wird der Fall an dem Mord an der Ehefrau eines bekanntes Schauspielers geteilt.

Das ist der siebzehnte Band der Manga-Reihe "Detektiv Conan" und auch, wenn die Fälle in sich abgeschlossen sind, sollte man der Reihe nach lesen, da die Grundgeschichte immer wieder fortgesetzt wird. Es ist als Taschenbuch, sowie e-book erhältlich. Ein Fall wird zuende erzählt und ein weiterer geteilt. Zudem kommen noch zwei abgeschlossene Fälle vor.
Meine Meinung:
Sonne, Strand und Meer. Ein schöner Band mit einer Vielfalt an Fällen, bei denen mir nicht unbedingt jeder zusagte, der aber auch seine Stärken besaß und mich gut unterhielt. Zwar fand ich es etwas schade, dass zwei Fälle sehr kurz gerieten und auch ein wenig die Raffinesse fehlte, aber vor allem der erste, zweite und letzte Fall waren echt stark. Und auch Kogoro war immer wieder für ein kleines Highlight gut und setzte all sein Können ein, auch wenn Conan das meiste davon übernahm.
Im ersten Fall wird der scheinbare Selbstmord an Masuko aufgeklärt, bei dem nicht so ist, wie es scheint. Die Auflösung und den Täter fand ich interessant und die Beweisführung spannend.
Im zweiten Fall geht es für Kogoro, Conan und Ran für einen Urlaub ans Meer, aber da warten einige Überraschungen auf sie. Nicht nur, dass Eri zufälligerweise auch dort ist und sich mit Kogoro in die Haare kriegt, auch eine junge Frau wird auf kuriose Weise mitten im Meer vergiftet. Dieser Fall war sehr tragisch und irgendwie tat mir die Person Leid, die dafür verantwortlich war. Das Ende überraschte, aber es war auch mal etwas anderes und passte gut. Die Streits zwischen dem Noch-Ehepaar amüsierte oft und eigentlich passen die beiden ja perfekt zueinander, auch wenn Kogoro mal aufhören sollte, mit allem weiblichen zu flirten, was nicht bei drei auf den Bäumen ist.
Im dritten Fall landet Kogoro im Krankenhaus, weil er mal wieder einfach zu tollpatschig war. Aber dort wartet eine Überraschung auf ihn, Conan und die Detective Boys, die so von einer Entführung, sowie Erpressung erfahren und auf eigene Faust handeln. An sich war es ein spannender Fall, aber leider geriet er viel zu kurz und bot wenig Ausgefallenes. Ein nettes Zwischenspiel, aber mehr auch nicht.
Im vierten Fall soll Kogoro für zwei Brüder das letzte Rätsel ihres Großvaters lüften, das ihr Erbe offenbaren soll. Aber für Conan passt einiges nicht zusammen und irgendwas stimmt ganz ung gar nicht mit den beiden. Diesen Fall mochte ich durchaus gerne, weil er spannende und interessante Wendungen bot, aber ich muss auch sagen, dass er wieder viel zu kurz geraten ist und sich gerne mehr Zeit hätte nehmen können. Da fehlte mir einfach etwas.
Im letzten Fall, der geteilt wird, lädt der Schauspieler Kozabura Kogoro ein, damit er den großen Detektiv für seine neue Rolle genau studieren kann. Der Zufall will es, dass seine Frau tot auf dem Balkon des Nachbarn Hajime fällt und alles klar zu sein scheint. Aber eine Angelschnur und das merkwürdige Verhalten des Schauspielers nähren Conans Verdacht, dass es doch nicht so ist, wie es aussieht. Dieser erste Teil gefiel mir sehr gut und ich mochte die Atmosphäre. Die Spannungen zwischen dem Paar waren greifbar und der Schluss machte neugierig auf die zweite Hälfte.
Der Zeichenstil gefiel mir wieder sehr und ich hatte keine Probleme, dem Geschehen zu folgen. Toll war es, wie genau die Mimik der Charaktere dargestellt wurde und man immer ein gutes Gefühl für den Fall hatte.
Fazit:
Die geteilten Fälle waren sehr stark, aber die abgeschlossenen dazwischen begeisterten mich nur bedingt. Zwar hatten sich auch das gewisse Extra und unterhielten mich, aber sie waren viel zu kurz und verschenkten einiges an Potenzial. Es ist eine gute Mischung mit unterschiedlichen Fällen, aber ich habe doch etwas mehr erwartet. Dennoch wurde ich gut unterhalten und freue mich auf die weiteren. Von mir gibt es:

I love the variety of cases in this volume. I think that keeps things interesting and engaging.
Case 1: Continuing from the last volume--we find out the truth behind Masuko's death.
I thought the was simple but interesting. I like that it played into the , which made it more uniquely tied to this case. And Richard's joke at the end was very on brand and very cute xD
Case 2: At a beach resort, Conan, Rachel, and Richard are enjoying the sand and sun, when they run into Eri, Rachel's mother and Richard's ex. During the two butting heads, the gang runs into another group of friends who are fans of Richard and invite them to lunch. Little did anyone know, they were also being invited to a crime scene. (CW snakes!)
I liked this one! I love seeing Eri and Richard interact, although I do feel bad for Rachel's desperate attempts to get them back together. (She's like 16 though, so I can't blame her.) I love how the relationship dynamic between Richard and Eri is contrasted with the soon-to-be newlyweds,
For someone like me that worries about random stuff in the ocean, back when I first read this manga as a kid in English, this book added snakes to that list, haha. This is definitely a case that stuck with me since I read it. :)
Case 3: Richard fractured his leg in an accident, and while Conan and his fellow kid detective friends are visiting, they happen upon a kidnapping and murder plot!
This was a short case, just a chapter long, so a good one if you're short on time or only in the mood for a quick read. The pacing worked though, and I liked the focus on a random background character, seeing things from their perspective. Just a nice shake up. It was cute, and I liked the ending. :)
Case 4: Richard is invited to solve a little mystery in a house full of clocks. It seems innocuous at first, but clues start piling up. Putting them all together, what do they mean?
The details of the artwork in this one must've been a huge pain to do, but looks fantastic! The house really feels full to the brim of clocks, I also love the attention to facial expressions in this one too. (It helped that I knew this story, so I knew to look for those clues, haha.) But it was a fun case! I love the bit with the flashlight, but I won't spoil it ;) (Also Rachel kicks ass <3)
Case 5: A famous actor hires Richard to help him with an upcoming role where he plays a detective. Soon after they arrive at his apartment, the actor's wife collapses next door, and is pronounced dead.
This felt like a quick set up for the next case, but I think it's just because it's only one chapter, and the last chapter in the book xD But right off the bat, things are not as they seem. Guess we'll have to find out the truth in the next volume!

INHALT: Zunächst wird der Fall mit der ermordeten Schwiegertochter des Kunsttöpfers aufgeklärt.
Dann machen Kogoro, Ran und Conan Strandurlaub. Ran fädelt ein Treffen zwischen ihren beiden Eltern ein, die beiden sind absolut nicht begeistert. Doch dann lernen die 4 eine Gruppe Studenten kennen. Plötzlich wird eine Studentin von einer mysteriösen Seeschlange gebissen, doch war das wirklich ein Zufall?
Dann liegt Kogoro verletzt im Krankenhaus. Dort ist ein Attentat auf einen seiner Zimmernachbarn geplant. Können Conan und seine Grundschulfreunde diesen verhindern?
Danach bekommt Kogoro einen Brief von einem neuen Klienten, welcher ihm schildert, dass in seinem alten Haus komische Dinge vor sich gehen. Mit Hilfe von Conan und seinen Freunden findet die Truppe in dem Haus voller Uhren allerlei Hinweise, die zur Lösung beitragen.
Das letzte Kapitel führt dann zum neuesten, noch nicht abgeschlossenen Fall. Kogoro wird von einem Schauspieler zu einem Treffen eingeladen, da dieser eine neue Rolle als Detektiv hat. Doch während sich die Gruppe um die beiden Männer, Ran und Conan unterhält, wird die Frau des Schauspielers im Nachbarappartment ermordet.

Auch der Fall mit dem Attentat im Krankenhaus war durchwachsen, tatsächlich hat er sich auch nur über ein Kapitel erstreckt.
Das Haus mit den vielen Uhren hat mir aber wiederum super gefallen, der Fall war mysteriös und sehr einfallsreich.
Der Fall mit der toten Frau des Schauspielers ist wieder ein typischer Detektiv Conan-Fall, den ich zwar ganz gut, aber nicht herausragend finde.
FAZIT: Ein Band mit einigen Stärken aber auch Schwächen.

Auch der Fall mit dem Attentat im Krankenhaus war durchwachsen, tatsächlich hat er sich auch nur über ein Kapitel erstreckt.
Das Haus mit den vielen Uhren hat mir aber wiederum super gefallen, der Fall war mysteriös und sehr einfallsreich.
Der Fall mit der toten Frau des Schauspielers ist wieder ein typischer Detektiv Conan-Fall, den ich zwar ganz gut, aber nicht herausragend finde.
FAZIT: Ein Band mit einigen Stärken aber auch Schwächen.

Ceci est une revue pour les 17 premiers tomes de Détective Conan, qui forment la saga Edogawa, première saga majeure de la série, la saga Haibara commençant au tome 18. Certains cas majeurs incluent :

- Le meurtre en croisière
- La bombe dans le train
- L'homme aux bandages
- Les fanatiques de Holmes
- Le meurtre du magicien
- La première apparition du Kid
Si la traduction française est de loin meilleure que la traduction anglaise (merci de ne pas avoir tenté d'adapter les noms des personnages), elle souffre quand même de problèmes communs aux traduction de manga, mais je vais passer outre ici.
On peut se le dire, les incidents qui n'incluent pas les autres enfants sont bien meilleurs.
À ce point dans la série, seuls quelques personnages majeurs ont été introduits, et le manga se situe plus dans un format "Incident de la semaine" que "Histoire continue". Menantu dari pengrajin terkenal ditemukan meninggal tergantung di gudang keramik. Meski terlihat seperti bunuh diri, namun terdapat luka aneh di betisnya sehingga Conan yakin bahwa ini pembunuhan. Tersangkanya adalah tiga murid pengrajin yang tinggal di rumah mereka.
Ran menjebak Kogoro dan Eri agar mereka liburan bersama di hotel Izu. Namun bukannya berbaikan, mereka malah bertengkar karena terjadi saling mengetes cinta masing - masing. Di sana juga terjadi kasus seorang wanita tergigit ular laut saat berenang. Namun itu bukanlah kecelakaan, salah satu temannya sengaja menggigitkan ular tersebut.

This volume ends with the solution to the murder mystery of an aging master of potteries understudy. I figured out parts, but there were deeper levels that I enjoyed being revealed and would encourage anyone to reread the first part from volume 16 to fully enjoy it. The first full story of this volume is about a poisoned finance at an ocean trip. I found this story to be far more enjoyable then I initially thought and while shorter than some stories was perfect for the middle of the book. The next story is a short one with Detective Moore being laid up in a hospital and a plot around him to kill someone is slowly being uncovered. The next story starts as Detective Moore is contacted to look into a mansion that has the recent owner questioning if they are being stalked, or something sinister is occurring. This story is a fun one that has a very satisfying (IMO) conclusion. And finally, we end the volume with a cliff-hanger. I wont say much about it as there is probably much more of the story in volume 18. Another solid addition to the Case Closed library.

This was a bit of a mixed bag, but I still enjoyed it. I think the pottery case was a bit weird, but an "interesting" way to go about murder. A lot of the killers in this series are very creative characters... which ultimate means that Gosho Aoyama is a very creative person (plus whoever might be helping him come up with all of this, if does get a bit of help that it).
The beach case was just ridiculous. It's impulsive, but that could make sense if not for the mechanism of murder. There are just so many things that could go wrong and it all hinges on chancing upon the murder weapon.
Parts of the clock case I liked. I think the puzzles are way too specific to Japanese language to be any fun to try puzzle out myself before the answers got revealed. But there was some nice tension after Shinichi got a look at the attic.
Lastly, I think there's some nice potential with the actor case, which we get the very beginning of at the end of this volume. There's a lot of wrinkles that'll be great to see ironed out.

Tässä kirjassa saatiin päätökseen edellisen kirjan päättänyt tapaus. Eli kannattaa lukea osa 16 ensin 😅 Muuten kirjan tarinat liittyvät kesään ja päätarina liittyikin rantalomaan. Sopivasti ajoitettua 😄
Tarinat olivat mielenkiintoisia ja hyvin toteutettuja. Ajoittain itsekin pääsi ratkomaan tapauksia, mutta mm. yhdessä tarinassa japaninkielen ja -kirjoituksen tunteminen oli pääosassa, joten sen tarinan ratkaisu "yllättäen" täysin Conanin harteille 😅

This was a decent volume of Case Closed. No advancement of the main story (concerning Jimmy's transformation), but pretty solid cases throughout. Probably the most out there story was the one involving the use of a sea snake as a weapon, but the underlying idea of unrequited love made up for it. I continue to find it pretty incredible that nobody notices Conan solving these cases (he was blatently obvious about it in the last case when he singlehandedly broke a complex code), but it remained entertaining.

Volume 17 was a decent continuation of the Case Closed/Detective Conan series. Although there was no advancement in the overarching story, into the men in black organisation and his child transformation, the actual cases were still interesting (as I find myself saying a lot!). The case in which a sea snake was used as a weapon is perhaps the strangest murder case I've ever come across... As always, it is interesting to solve the cases presented to Conan but leaves me questioning when the story will have a proper development in the main storyline.

Imagine inheriting a mansion that is also a giant puzzle to be solved. I'd personally be in cloud nine; except for the fact that it attracts a buncha evildoers to try and get the treasure inside. And you also get kidnapped and hidden in a room.

We also got to see Ran's parents having a completely dysfunctional yet somewhat cute marriage.
Still, her mom deserves better.

This was a fun read. It was cool to see kogoro play more of an active role than just sleeping. I liked seeing him be guided into unraveling the mystery with Conan’s help, allying I did not get that chapter at all. Eri being there was nice. I didn’t get that at all until Conan explained. The short chapter with the father an daughter was also nice. The final case with the actor seems to be interesting.

My favorite Detective Conan stories are the ones that don't follow the usual formula of murder made to look like suicide, 3 suspects, Moore being oblivious and Conan saving the day single-handedly. This volume was full of those unique stories (except the first one, and that was just the ending from the previous volume) and I really liked all of them.

Aber Entspannung und Ruhe findet unser kleiner Detektiv am Strand von Izu leider nicht.
Ein kniffliger Fall mit der Frage 'War es ein Zufall oder doch ein Mordversuch'.
Neben dem besagten Urlaubsfeeling (eine meiner Lieblingsgeschichten), bringt dieser Band wieder Spannung und viele Anregungen zum Miträtseln mit sich.
Aber Entspannung und Ruhe findet unser kleiner Detektiv am Strand von Izu leider nicht.

Le prime due storie, la continuazione di quella del mastro ceramista e quella ambientata al mare, me le ricordo e mi erano piaciute. La terza, che continua poi nel volume successivo, al momento non mi dice nulla. Forse mi era piaciuta di meno delle altre.

Hier waren viele einzelne Fälle, die dann doch etwas gepresst wirkten. Gut war aber mal wieder Kogoro, der doch mal etwas Grips zeigte, als auch die Story mit dem Haus und den vielen Uhren. Und Ran kann sich immer wieder gut wehren gegen Verbrecher!

J'adore les enquêtes où Eri est là car ça développe davantage le personnage de Kogoro, qui d'habitude est toujours le personnage "running gag" qui ne montre aucun talent de détective. Alors que là dans ce volume il m'a surprise, j'ai adoré !

One of my favorite mysteries is in this volume. I love that occasionally someone survives a murder attempt. And in this case, all is forgiven. I also love the mystery that's setup in this volume but continues in the next. Great volume all around.
