Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.

Favourite character: Jessica (shockingly) Least favourite character: Elizabeth (less shocking) & Heather
Mini-review: My, my, my. This is a first. I rooted for Jessica the whole book, while I’m normally screaming her name in frustration. This time I was yelling at Elizabeth for being such a crappy human. Grr.

Jessica is in such a pickle! First that hussy Heather has taken over her cheer squad and now she's also found that her own twin sister had a secret affair with her new boyfriend Ken! When will this madness end???
One of the first Sweet Valley High novels I owned so I have something of a soft spot for it. It's your classic SVH book and probably is the reason I have a soft spot for Jessica even though she can be so... well, she's Jessica! ☺💟
This should have been called The Attack of the Green Eyed Monster such is the jealousy prevalent throughout the book. We have Elizabeth seething with jealousy as Jessica is dating Ken Matthews as she went out with him first (eh?? can't say I remember that storyline) and has decided she's madly in love with him. We also have Jessica seething with jealousy over the new girl at Sweet Valley High - Heather Malone who has conveniently started at the school just as Robin Wilson is suddenly leaving!! I must admit Heather got up my nose too with the - extreme, in my opinion - diet she was hell bent on putting the other cheerleaders on and I couldn't help but smile when Jessica "accidentally" pushed her in the pool!!
A fun time as usual, but simultaneously frustrating. It felt very out of character for Elizabeth to betray and neglect Todd’s love so much, and even more out of character to manipulate Jessica’s thoughts and feelings for someone for personal gain. Fiction or not, I can’t imagine a guy as patient and supportive as Todd, can’t see why she would ever doubt him. Heather seems a bit like a Mary Sue and those character types often seem unrealistic to me, but it’s an interesting plot point to essentially put Jessica up against someone almost exactly like her.
Heather Mallone moves to Sweet Valley and positively wants to steal everything that Jessica holds dear in her little world, namely her captain position in the cheerleading squad and being on top of the pecking order at SVH.
Jessica also sets her sights on Ken, but what's confusing her is that her normally supportive sister Elizabeth seems to blanch at the idea. Well, if you've read Liz's secret diaries then you know that there's something going on between Ken and Lizzie. Too bad for Tod but then he's as boring as weeks old bread.
Jessica starts the biggest feud in Sweet Valley cheerleading history by finding her own squad. Let's see how that one ends.
Silly book but it's like a sick fascination- must read sweet valley. Dislike Liz- didn't think I could dislike her more but yes I do. Jessica is fine- really into Ken- over everything. Typical Sweet valley. You have the sun, split level house- good car with blonde hair and perfect figures. Don't need anything else Lol I don't have every single book obviously, but I am slowly progressing through the series.
I loved this book! I did not like heather she is a rich girl who steals away every thing Jessica has with social life. After she kicks to girls off the cheerleading squad jessica is mad. I learned that having a lot of friends can be hard expecially if you are popular and 1 other girl can change your life.
