It's gold medal time for Tori -- she just knows it! The next big competition is coming up, and Tori has a winning routine.

Now all she needs is that fabulous skating dress her mother promised her! But Mrs. Carsen doesn't seem to be interested in Tori's skating anymore -- not since she started dating a new man in town.

When Mrs. Carsen tells Tori she's not going to the competition, Tori decides enough is enough! She has a plan that will change everything -- forever!

The thrilling tale of a girl who goes to a competiiton and tries to move in with her dad.

Wait a second... this isn't Skate School.

Yeah Nikki and the rest are tons more realistic than Skate School. Silver Blades is a CLUB not a school. This somehow makes it more believable, even though Jill does go to the Ice Academy in book 4, you can see that it was hard work to get there, not a chance meeting with the director.

Tori was never going to survive with her dad, you can tell she wasn't going to move out. When Haley's version of this book came along, it was even more obvious to me Haley wasn#'t going to move in with her dad because Tori discouraged it.

This is on my favorites shelf because as a young child, I absolutely loved reading books about sports and athletes. They always seemed to catch my attention more because I played sports and liked reading books that had my hobbies and interests in them. I also like that when it comes to these types of books, especially biographies on the specific athletes, you learn more about them than just their records. You also find out what they do outside of the field, court, etc.

I would definitely use this book as a just right reading level book for the intermediate and lower middle school grades. I think that having this as an option would appeal to those who like reading about sports.
