Well it's a start I guess
This is book one in a series. It's a start. Lots of history rehashed from another series. Doesn't really go anywhere except to lead to book two. Since it is also on KU I'll keep reading. I wouldn't though if I had to buy it because I hate when authors do this. I don't mind series as long as each book does have it's own story. These kind are just annoying and pointless as separate books.

I’ll be honest, when I read that this story was Quinn and Sasha’s story – I was expecting it to be about them as a couple, not about them 2 years in the future and apart. When we left the first bit of the series, we knew that Sasha had been burned beyond recognition and that he had wanted Barrett to end his misery to which Flynn intervened. Just when we had hope that there was something positive in their future, it all implodes.
After Sasha left Quinn alone in New York, leaving pretty much everyone, Quinn runs back to Boston to go back to her family and friends. It wasn’t enough that Sasha broke her heart, but then her father falls ill and we start this fifth installment at his wake. Quinn is alone – she’s got no family left and she’s still reeling from the heartbreak from a year ago. Even then, we also learn that she was pregnant and lost that baby, so pretty much everything in her life was going downhill.
When things seem like they won’t get better ever, she meets Ori – a name that’s familiar from Igor’s story, yet we don’t know how things will tie together. Ori finds himself intrigued by Quinn and she’s really not open to a relationship at this point given that she’s really not in a good place. When she falls incredibly ill and he takes care of her, we see the ice thaw and there’s hope on the horizon for a happy ending.
For a reader, there’s so much frustration happening because he continues to hint that he was close with Igor and that Igor’s best friend is the one who killed him, and of course he knows that Sasha was Igor’s best friend – the one who killed him (supposedly since it was actually Barrett if you remember), so i’m curious how this is all going to come full circle and what will happen when that does happen.
So, things are a roller coaster of emotions, and we don’t quite know which way this story is going to go. Where we end up in the last few pages is a car crash and amnesia and a reveal that doesn’t quite sit well with me, and i’m sure we’ll see what that means in Burn

What an ending—can’t wait to read the next one. The story held my attention and was entertaining, but also was heartwarming and emotional. This is the first time I read a book by Emma Slate, but I assure you it will not be the last. I thought this was a good book, and I enjoyed the characters of Quinn O’Malley, Ori Abruzzo and subsequent characters, but some were deeply troubled. Quinn is distraught because she has to plan her father’s funeral, Sasha Petrovich left her after the accident, she inherits her father’s real estate developing business—which she knows nothing about—and she is all alone until she meets Ori Abruzzo who is handsome, arrogant, confident, and charismatic. The chemistry between Quinn and Ori grows more potent the more time they spend together—the sex is off-the-chart hot! Will Quinn be able to love Ori or is she still in love with Sasha? The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. This book will take you through an emotional journey of loyalty, trust, betrayal, commitment, and love. The story will also pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.

Having read Barrett and Flynn's and Igor’s stories (SINS: Books 1-4) I was looking forward to Sasha and Quinn finally being in the spot light. We’re given an insight into what life is like for Quinn in the present day and Sasha is notably absent, with the events of this book taking place after events in the previous SINS books. Ember does a good job of setting up the next books but doesn’t do much more than that. So as part of the trilogy it is beginning to set up what is to come and is enjoyable in that sense but considering it on its own? It falls a little flat as not much really happens.

I liked this, the character Quinn was devine, layers just perfect. It's incredibly charming and draws you in, Quinn's dad died and dealing with that is hard, her brother is a no show and her stepmother as useful as a corkscrew to spread butter.
All the men in Quinn's life leave, her heart broken leaves Quinn vulnerable and a little defenceless.

Now into book two.

Talk about a sloooowwww burn...
I just couldn't get into this one. I finished it, but I kept wondering when the story was going to start. There are all of these intriguing little facts dropped, like the various allegiances of the characters, but all that happens is the bare minimum to make time go by. Then the last line of the entire book finally opens up some action--but it's too late. I'm not nearly invested enough to follow through with the next book.
I just couldn't get into this one. I finished it, but I kept wondering when the story was going to start. Five stars, is the quality of these books from the author.
Author is good with keeping you glued to the pages. The storyline is very intriguing, as are the Characters in the story, there’s always an interesting turn in the story.
The flow of the book keep you on your edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. It seems to and too fast so when it does you can’t wait to order the next book.

so very entertaining
This one had an interesting plot. More of an emotional theme than mafia focused. Their main antagonist was their relationship and less about outside forces attacking them. It was good. I did not like the ending…I don’t appreciate hours of my time spent reading an intriguing book only to have it end in a cliffhanger. The fact that book 6 is published makes me happy. Now I have another good read to enjoy.

I started to read this... In the beginning I was lost... however I learned its a spin off series of Sins.. I havent read sins yet... so if your thinking of reading this... I would start with sins... however I did not. I did enjoy this book. It was a fast easy read for me. I will continue this series then consider to do sins..

Slow development
Interesting story except it really didn't pick up until halfway through. Quinn is a bit annoying and her self pity started to grate on my nerves. Also, what is with the cliffhanger? I don't like it when I'm being forced to read the next book especially when the current one was just mediocre.

Wow!
I read the entire SINS series and fell in love with Quinn. She’s wonderful as the narrator of this book, and you really feel for her and all she’s lost. I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series.

Un-putdownable
Having read the all the "Sins" stories I could not wait to continue with this saga. I was not disappointed. Once I start a book that captures my attention, I cannot put it down. Please Emma, continue with this series.

I, at first was really confused, probably as I just now realised this is a spinoff so begginig of the book got me so confused about who, what, where, how and why. Quinn just, I dont understand..u wanna move forward but u dont..and then the end of this part just got me like..Come on...not this now..

The saga continues. No spoilers from me. This series is a must read. Simply fascinating characters, hella angst, drama with gut wrenching WTF. I went from cussing my kindle to bawling my eyes out. I couldn't put it down.

Love this book, it’s sets the scene for the rest of the series perfectly. I love Quinn she is such a great character. Make sure you have read Sins first as this is linked beautifully.
