The stories in this anthology each touched me in a different way. This was my first time reading many of these authors and I am glad that I found new ones to follow. The stories are short but make an impact, and make you appreciate the sacrifices those who serve make.

I loved each and every one of these stories and having met one of the authors in July made it all the more special. Coming from a huge military family the tribute to our men and women who keep us safe really touches my heart.

Chasing Feathers by Fiona Tulle (4 stars because its a cliff hanger): Emma is a author who at a book convention finds out her friend Kaitlyn was able to get Austin her husband to be there for her book signings before shipping out on a mission. This is a series so it ends abruptly with the rest of the story continuing in March of 2019.

Home Sweet Home by E. Kay Sims (5 stars!): Marek returns home to her grandmothers home in Oregon after retiring from the military. Her husband Ryker was killed during a op as private security, Emma lobbied hard to adopt his military war dog Gunner. She meets handsome Colt a local fireman and bar owner at the grocery store. While at the bar she fixes his ice machine and to say the sparks fly between them plus Grandma's matchmaking skills Colt and Emma are bound to be a couple. Loved how Gram made her barn into a dance hall and now Marek's new home. I'm glad this will be a new series by one of my favorite authors.

Saving Shay by Tiffani Lynn (5 Stars): Shay Baird has become a hermit on her families home after they were killed and her Grandma passed. She is caught skinny dipping by her neighbor whom she knew as a child. He's inherited his grandfathers farm and is due to retire from the Navy SEALs after his last mission. Both Shay and Paxton have tragic pasts but he was adopted after being taken away from his parents as a 11-year old. But there is a oil company that will do anything to convince Shay to sell her farm. Luckily Paxton meets a friend who will help guard Shay and he returns home.

Flowers for a Hero by Tara L. Ames (Another 5 Stars!) : Brogan is in North Carolina to deliver a letter to one of his SEAL teammates family who was killed. He knows that he has PTSD and that drinking won't help the memories go away from a mission that went FUBAR. When he meets Chelsea whose truck is broken down she gives him a mini course in the meaning behind each flower this she's taking out to her brother's grave (He doesn't know that she's Will's sister). This story really touched my heart with how Will's family and sister take in a broken SEAL and give him the help and family he needs to combat his PTSD. I want more of their story and you'll love it trust me.

Changing Seasons by BT Urruela (4.5 Stars): I was lucky to see (but not meet) BT in Seattle this past July and this book will benefit his Vet Sports charity. His story will also grab your heart as he gives you an insight on how dealing with the IED that takes his leg and the long road to healing in mind, body and soul after serving in Afghanistan.

Wounds of War by CD Bradley (5 stars): is a touching story about her friend MSG Raul "Roy" Perez Benavidez story from a child of migrant parents to a Medal of Honor recipient for his bravery during the Vietnam War. He is truly a hero for never leaving one of his soldiers behind even though he was severely injured.

Six amazing authors give us six amazing stories of courage and love.

Each one a story of hope, courage and love. I have my favorites and they are the ones that made me cry the most. Touched me in ways I didn't think possible.

I do think we need to start a campaign for a couple of these stories to be turned into full length novels. I need to know more than just the last page gave me!

The story honoring Master Sergeant Raul "Roy" Perez Benavidez.....that one made me sob like a baby. I know it's fiction based on his life but the similarities between him and my uncle, well they just made me miss him all over again. The upbringing, the service, going to Vietnam. I love that he had his Lala and their children.

BT Urruela also tore out a piece of my heart by giving us a piece of his. He is known for putting personal stories or events in his work. Damn did he let us in this time. I so admire this man, his service and his writing.

The other stories....ladies I need longer novellas or full length books. I need to make sure these heroes did indeed get the HEA. And I need them in print so I can have them close by when I need a pick me up, feel good love story.

Saving Shay 5 star read
I loved how they knew each other as kids and then meeting again as adults.

This should be a 30 star rated book! 5 stars for each story/author! The real bonus to The Hero's Journey Home is that all proceeds go to benefit VETSports!
This collaboration contains fiction and nonfiction. Reading them gave me an even greater appreciation for those that have served or are serving our great country.

Thank you to Author BT Urruela for your service and sacrifice for our freedom and for your blood, sweat and tears, along with 2 other individuals that birthed VETSports and for all that it stands for and accomplishes.

(Added bonus: I was privileged to receive my paperback on 25AUG18 and have it signed by 5 of the 6 contributing authors, the photographer and the cover model! What a fantastic weekend!)

“A hero’s journey starts within the heart”

“A hero’s journey starts within the heart.” An amazing quote that sums up the vibe of these stories. Truth or fiction? You can’t tell the difference but you can feel the emotions from each and every word.

a GREAT read for a wonderful cause

The Hero's Journey Home is a MUST READ collection from very talented writers.

Each author provides a story filled with emotion and characters that will have you wanting to know what you can do for those real-life men and women as they return to civilian life.

This anthology also includes veteran BT Urruela's Changing Seasons ~ his own reflections of different periods of his life since it was changed by a road-side bomb.

I am reviewing only the one story I have read so far.
Changing Seasons by BT Urruela. BT has shared parts if his life in his group but something about reading his written words made it even more heartbreaking. His story in this anthology had me in tears and honestly if I ever met his mom I would be in trouble because I would probably hit her. BT I love you and you inspire me! I look forward to reading more of your story.

Really enjoyed Fiona Tulle's book Chasing Feathers. I felt like I was literally Emma in the story and living thru the life of her & Austin. What a great story. I can't wait for the novella.

I haven't read the others yet but I will at some point.
