David McGowan was born in Liverpool, in the United Kingdom.
He is the author of gritty urban crime fiction. The Alan Whitby Thriller series is new for 2026 and follows a detective who moves from village life to Liverpool to take up a role as a detective constable in the Homicide Investigation Team.
He is also the author of the epic alien invasion science fiction trilogy, From the Sky, an epic tale of the pilgrimage of a small group of survivors who survive an alien invasion and must go on a mission to the most famous top secret base of them all.
Two Miles Down is a dystopian tale of survival in a futuristic underground prison, following the lives of two prisoners, one of them a wrongly convicted fifteen-year-old child.
This final part of the epic three-part saga of an alien visit to earth is an action-packed thriller of a book. The group begin to realise the importance of the small statue the young boy Tucker carries with him, guarded as always by his beloved dog, Samuel. A race against time rounds up the story and there’s some real heart-in-mouth stuff going on here. This is ‘alien invasion’ with a whole different angle and context and I loved being pulled out of my expectations.
The interplay between the characters is strong and believable. These people are alone in their world and if they can’t fulfil their quest, there will be no world. It’s a dire situation and the amount of danger, fear and longing points that up very well. I loved the way that some characters were not as I’d thought them. I’ve always enjoyed David McGowan’s writing and his imagination and this is a stunning conclusion to what’s been a thunderingly good tale.
I have read the previous two books in this series and have just finished reading Nevada. It is a fantastic book and I loved every minute of it. The characters are great and I really connected with them. There's a few surprises along the way and the ending is perfect and made me cry!!! Love this author.
Enjoyed the first two books in this Trilogy and have been looking forward to this final part. Pleased to say I wasn't disappointed with it. A nice twist from the usual alien invasion stories with good characters and a couple of surprises, all in all a good series.
I absolutely inhaled this series. The characters are people you'd like to know, the story moves at a frantic pace, and there are enough plot twists to keep you guessing. I love finding a series about ETs who are benevolent. Great story. Thank you, Mr. McGowan.
I thought the characters cut well, some good and some not so good. What I like most is the hero is a ten year old boy. Very well written and a lot of thought went into it. Well done.
Really did love this series..Very imaginative , lots of diverse characters...Loved the character of Jim and Mirlo...Aliens and UFO's , what more could you ask for..Plus a very Happy ending for all
