The Wakefield sisters are determined to keep their New Years resolution. Even if it kills them.
Identical twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield have always considered themselves best friends, but lately they've been acting more like best enemies. So they make a New Year's no more arguing or disagreeing about anything.
Jessica forces herself to gush over Elizabeth's new blouse, even though it's the dweebiest thing she's ever seen. Elizabeth pretends she's thrilled to run into Jessica and her Unicorn Club friends at the movies, even though the Unicorns are the snobbiest girls on the planet. And when adorable Eric Weinberg moves to Sweet Valley, the twins decide they can both have crushes on him.
Jessica and Elizabeth will always be sisters...but will they always be best friends?
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
Elizabeth has a rock collection, something which Jessica thinks is ultra-boring. Jessica wants a makeup purse. Major differences between the twins are pointed out and the girls make a resolution not to be nasty to each other.
You can pretty much guess how difficult that's going to be. It's a question not if but when their plans go astray.
To complicate matters both girls are interested in the same guy. Then, if that wasn't complicated enough, there's chance they can visit her aunt and go skiing.
If, and only if, their arguing stops.
That's a mighty big if.
It even gets more complicated when some of their friends make resolutions of their own. So it becomes a game of who can break who's resolution. It's really funny. one of the better books.
This was the first Sweet Valley book I ever read, and the one that paved my way to reading what I considered at the time to be more "mature" fiction, haha.
It was a fun read and I did rather enjoy it. The one thing I clearly remember is that it made me quite hungry, especially since Janet was trying to stick to a resolution of not eating any sweets and, naturally, temptation kept popping up everywhere.
