It’s good to be queen. Except when it’s a total disaster.

Syl Skye, newly crowned Queen of Fair Faerie, would be psyched to be the ruler of her Summer realm, except for two things.

First, her girlfriend Rouen Rivoche became Queen of Dark Faerie, the Winter realm. That would be great except the Winter realm’s always been at war with Summer. By tradition, that makes Rouen Syl’s mortal enemy.

That said, love can break past old hatred, right? Especially with a new foe about to attack them both.

Ah, no.

Which brings us to Syl’s second problem. Rouen’s under a dark spell and doesn’t remember Syl, their lives, their love. Worse, if Syl doesn’t break the spell by the next new moon, Rouen will forget her forever.

To defeat their foe, it’ll take two soul-bound queens whose hearts and minds act as one. Trouble is, no one has ever broken the dark spell Rouen suffers from.

Good thing Syl isn't the type of queen who gives up easily.

I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley

actual rating: 2.5

I'm kind of torn on this one. On the one hand I really enjoyed most of it ...right up until the last chapter. It's cool to see Rouen playing larger shows [although I wish it were in better circumstances] and it's cool to see Syl interacting more with her friends and I liked that the dark fae kids from the other novella played a big part in the plot ...but plot-wise the whole thing was entirely pointless.

I mean I get that generally large plot-shaping events don't happen in the novellas between main books, but maybe that means that this was not a good place for a novella because I am feeling pretty frustrated now. I mean [SPOILERS] we start the book with Rouen not remembering who Syl is at all and then we go through all that crap and have a huge fight and 'win' and we are left with ...Rouen STILL not remembering who Syl is [or 'remembering' but thinking it is a lie, which is a technical difference but honestly all comes out to the same thing].

I'm still giving it three stars because it is technically as well written as all the other books in the series and I did enjoy most of it, but I'm definitely annoyed at where we are left at the end and it almost feels like I could have skipped the entire thing and not even noticed a difference.

In Rekindled, the newest novella in the Circuit Fae series, we get to see a first person viewpoint that we've never seen before, Glamma. Throughout the book, we have the usual intertwined Rouen and Syl viewpoints, and this new part really added that extra push that it needed to be different from the other books. This time, Rouen's memory has been wiped by their latest nemesis, the librarian. The only way to bring it back is for Syl to kiss her before the new moon.

Being back in the Faerie world with Syl and Rouen felt awesome, though the fact that Rouen couldn't remember anything definitely put a damper on my joy.

Also, the fact that Syl wouldn't kiss Rouen to break up the spell really made me want to chuck things at her—or the author. (Sorry!) I mean, they were already in love, even if Rouen didn't remember it, she could feel it.

Though Rekindled did manage to sweep me away into the tale, just like all its prequels did. It was so much fun to be back in Syl and Rouen's world and I can't wait to get into the next book! Waiting for it's release is going to be a struggle!

I missed the old Rouen in this one. The dark, gothic girl went missing in this one and I hated that. :( But I loved the little Dark Fae kiddos, they managed to lighten up the story enough to keep up the quirky feels that usually accompany this series intact.

I also hated the ending because it definitely could've been avoided, had Syl not been so stupid. What can I do but wait for the next book and hope that she remedies her mistakes?

Once again Ms. Eldredge delivered an emotional rollercoaster, filled with fights, small endearing moments, builds to a thrilling climax, and an emotion-filled denoument.

Ms. Eldredge quite meticulously crafts a story that weaves what many of us love about fantasy, the ordinary facets of reality, and our thirst for love and passion into a story that denies you the easy delivery, and hits you when you least expect it. Favorites from the previous books show up, from Syl's friends to new friends we've met along the way. We even get to see a few new skills from an old favorite.

I have devoured each of these books, and eagerly await the next installment.

Rekindled is part of the Circuit Fae series, and it's also a prequel to the upcoming fourth book, Nemesis. If you haven't read any of the previous books in the series, you'll probably want to do that first before tackling Rekindled.

Syl and Rouen, now both queens of their respective Faerie realms, have even more challenges to face in this book. Not only do they still need to try and find a way to fix their kingdoms, but Rouen is currently under a spell that made her forget everything about Syl. Instead, she's busy focusing on her music career with her new "manager." Said manager, though, isn't who she seems to be.

Syl has to try and figure out a way to break the curse Rouen is under before it's too late, and she'll do whatever it takes to do it, too. Never mess with a soul-bonded pair.

I really enjoyed this little novella, and it made me even more excited to dive into Nemesis. I've loved this series ever since I took a chance on Moribund. I love the banter between Syl and Rouen, as well as the romance. Their love for one another is something most people can only dream of. I think that's what makes the stories so fantastic. It's like a Romeo & Juliet type thing, but without all the depressing death and stuff.

Syl is extra-mega determined to find a way to "cure" Rouen in this book, and it just makes you cheer her on even more. You want her to make Rouen remember. You want the pair of them to get back to repairing their kingdoms and making things right. But the battle to do so has only just begun.

I also liked that we get a little bit more of Syl's Glamma in this one. She actually shows up in the beginning and the end, and I'd love to see more of her in the rest of the series. Fingers crossed!
Overall, Rekindled is a fast-paced, exciting novella that will have you eagerly awaiting the fates of Syl and Rouen. The ending, though... Well, I won't spoil it, but let me tell you, it made me almost want to scream and throw my Kindle at the wall. It also made me even more anxious for Nemesis now.

I'm giving this one 4.5 stars. Check it out!

I read a free copy from Net Galley but have the Nook and Kindle versions preordered (and will get the print edition if/when it releases).

This series owes me many hours of sleep, and this book is no exception. I strongly recommend dedicating a couple hours to read in one sitting because there is honestly no good place to say “ok, I can stop here and come back later.” There is so much tension! (Make sure your device can handle when you will inevitably tighten your grasp while reading.)

If Syl and Rouen’s problems weren’t enough on their own, the dark Fae kids return to help...or cause havoc. Or maybe both. That Chuck E. Cheese scene! 😂Rouen defending the dark Fae kids against unfair gaming machines. 😂The new characters are also great (sounds like Laguna may make a return in Nemesis). We also get Glamma’s point of view a couple times!

You will find yourself smiling, laughing, hoping, and dreading what happens next. Now I need a time machine to take me to September when the next book releases because ROUEN!!! 😭😭

I'm SO glad I did not skip the novellas! This book picks up right after Inimical, with Euphoria on tour with memory loss. The plot moves really quickly and this book was a lot of fun. I particularly enjoyed a guest appearance from some of our favorite dark fae . . . I don't want to spoil it, but Chuck E Cheese is involved!

So Rouen is under a spell that took her memory. Syl is trying everything she can to help get her memory back. The problem is that she is on a deadline and an evil puca wont let her get close. Some how they need to fix her memory and save their kingdoms before something even worse happens.
So usually these types of books are one side saves, the other side tries but is too weak. Not here. They are 2 bada** women that are tired of people messing with them. Dark and light but love conquers all. I dont know who I love more. But I probably pick the dark fairie kids. They were my favorite. I couldnt put the book down and look forward to reading more!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC in return for an honest review.
Somehow I had managed to read this after I read book 4 in the series so I knew the outcome of this episode. The involvement of the fae kids was cute and made good reading but that was the only reason I gave it three stars because the rest of it was just filling in information that wasn't absolutely necessary to the continuation of the series. I am looking forward to the release of Eidolon however because I want to know whether Syl and Rouen get their happy resolution.

I received a free copy via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

I was really disappointed with this.

Although a novella it felt very weak on the story and seemed to just be filling it parts of the story from the past book and ready for number 4.

Just really not for for me.

Rouen Rivoche Queen of Dark Faerie, the Winter realm is under a dark magic spell she can’t remember her girlfriend Syl Skye, Queen of Fair Faerie, Summer realm. Syl only has a few days to break the spell or lose Rouen forever. Syl is a fighter and will never give up on the love of her life. She has fought for her before and won and she will do it again. No one knows the bond between two soul-bound mates.

Syl and her friends have come up with plan after plan to break the spell but each time the plan fails. The excitement builds and builds and I was rooting for Syl the whole time and every time I thought she was going to break the spell I was like yes go Syl go, go, go and then bam someone or something would just knock her back a few paces and I would be like no, no, no, no way. It reminded me of Stephen King’s writing you know where the excitement would just build and build and then without any warning you would come crashing back down.

Can Syl break the spell in time? How will she break the spell? Can she do it all by herself? Is she strong enough? Is their soul-bound love strong enough? Want to know? Yeah? How can you find out? The way to find out how it all ends is to pick up your copy today. Oh and while you are at it I would suggest that you pick up the first three books in the Circuit Fae series as I know you want to get the whole story.

What I LOVE about this series (and this novella is NO exception) is well EVERYTHING! I LOVE the relationship between Syl and Rouen and how hard they fight for their love and for one another in spite of all the obstacles. It is what love should be about! Additionally, in this installment in particular, I got such a kick out of seeing more from Glamma and the dark fae children who wreak mischief and havoc galore. Really, it's Eldredge's writing that always shines so brightly and is what keeps her fans coming back for more. I can NOT wait for Nemesis and I know I am NOT alone in saying that.
