This was a hard one to get through. The premise is simple, in that a man, Jake, is greatly wronged by several police officers. This results in some tragic losses for our main character, and he sets out to get revenge on his aggressors. The pacing at the beginning is warp speed, especially during the trial and aftermath, but is then painfully slow during the torture scenes. And no, that wasn’t a playful pun. There is very little character development beyond the beginning for Jake, and there really needed to be. He loses his wife and child and the remainder of the story almost fully negates any emotional aspect of that trauma. The remaining 80% of the story is just body horror, with a great amount of genital mutilation. Much of it began to blend together, even as the author tried to make it as creative as possible. But there was very little point to the story aside from being a love letter to the Saw movies, just without adequate purpose or meaningful characters. Then there were two different endings, which was very confusing. Just a very disjointed experience. I love extreme horror, but this was not a good outing for me.

This is a ferocious and unsparing novella. On his way to bring his pregnant wife to the hospital, Jake, the concerned husband, is stopped by three policemen. The corrupt cops treat the family horribly, and the wife and unborn child die as a result. Jake is sent to prison under completely false pretenses. The justice system has failed him tremendously.

After his release from prison, Jake is determined to exact his revenge upon the three officers that ruined his life. His plans for each individual and some of their spouses are extremely graphic and filled with intense violence. I was unable to put this book down as I read through each savage scenario. Definitely not intended for sensitive readers, this book is sure to satisfy lovers of extreme horror. Two alternate endings are offered, and, personally, I preferred the first one. This was my first book by Wade H. Garrett, and I look forward to reading more of his work.

As Jake is rushing his pregnant wife in labor to the hospital he is pulled over by three police officers. To his horror the officers beat them. He is forced to watch his wife and unborn child die. The three officers get away with their crimes and Jake is sent to prison. Upon his release Jake plots his revenge and with his military training it slowly takes place. Whew this book was a wild ride. I was on Jake's team as he took his pound of flesh from the three officers. Quick paced and sure to make your heart pound.

Boiling with anger, Steven raised Richard’s head, aiming the firearm at Jake’s chest.

“Fuck you! You destroyed my life! You’re going to pay for what you’ve done to me!”

“Make your choice. Be a fucking liar and suffer the consequences, or accept your punishment and go about your life.”

“Fuck you and your self-righteous attitude!”

“Then what are you waiting for? Pull that trigger.”

Those were some satisfyingly written torture scenes. If you like your fictional justice bloody, visceral and but not necessarily super believable this one is going to be up your alley.

So this guy was speeding down the freeway trying to get his pregnant wife to the hospital while she was in labor. The cops pulled him over and he asked them for an escort. Instead of helping him, they made him get out of the car, tased his wife as her water broke, then arrested him for no reason. While they trumped up charges of assault, the Police got away Scott free from the use excessive force and police brutality. The Police Cruiser Cam was "broken". Oh, did I mention that the wife and baby died, and he was convicted for assaulting a police officer, for which their wives showed up in court to bear false witness. When he finished serving time in prison he paid the Police Officers a visit at their homes and I'll let you find out the rest.
What I liked about this story in comparison to other works from Wade Garrett is that you actually don't feel sorry for the victims who are on the receiving end of his brand of vigilante justice.
For example when reading "Human Cruelty", while you wanted justice to be done for all of those tortured animals, after some time, I felt that the animal abusers received the justice that they deserved and at that point I really wished that Brad would just kill them or let them go. An experience like that would turn me into Dr. Fucking Doolittle.
With Pigs, however, Wade succeeded in making these Police characters, unrepentant, evil, corrupt, incorrigible, as to draw no sympathy from the readers. Good job, Wade.
Truth be told, Wade H Garrett scares me because I wonder how much time he spends thinking and designing these different torture contraptions in his head. They are not only imaginative, but technically sound and elaborate.

This book deals with a very controversial topic that happens in our world everyday. This book is about a man named Jake who loses his wife and unborn child after being pulled over by three corrupt police officers. After Jake's losses, he sets out to seek revenge against the three cops who led to the deaths. This short story deals with how frustrating the judicial system is and makes us feel for Jake during the whole story. The story was very gruesome and dealt with extreme horror that felt like something you would see in Saw. The story also included two different endings, I much preferred the original ending since it was gruesome and left you thinking. This was a great read and I'm glad I was able to pick this one up. I would definitely recommend if you love revenge stories and can deal with some extreme horror. This is a hidden gem.

never thought I’d see the day where I would give a short novella 5 stars. It kept me interested from the very first page and was action packed, never a dull moment. The games he played with the police officers kind of reminded me of the SAW movie franchise which isn’t a bad thing.

This book is not only topical due to current events going on, but will remain relevant sadly for years into the future. It is a dark look into the American police force, and the judicial system at it's worst. It shows the harsh realities of our country, and how corrupt and often unjust the systems we have in place are. When you live in a system where you fear the ones who are supposed to protect you, you know that the system is broken, and this book shows how this unjust system might push ones self to the brink of insanity. This book follows Jake, whos wife and unborn child were wrongly killed at the hands of those "sworn to protect". Not only was his family killed at the hands of the police, but he was wrongly incarcerated after the police in question lied about the situation and painted him as a murderer. To some this may seem like an exaggeration of our reality, but with the recent unjust murder of George Floyd, and many other African Americans being killed at the hands of the police day by day, I wouldn't say this book is far from the world we live in. After the main character loses his family and freedom to the unfair, he vowes revenge on the three cops who ruined his life. He embarks on a John Wick style journey for revenge, accompanied with jig-saw style torture on those who have wronged him. It's gruesome, graphic and fucked up. This book is completely horrific and grips you while also making you cringe with every page. The ending especially is horrific, and the alternate ending was fascinating to. It's a dark and extremely look on how a broken system can break a man. To clarify, the events in this book are pure fiction and should stay that way, you can create change in this world without murder and violence, but with protest and raising awareness. I would highly recommend this book for a topical, relevant, and thrilling messed up piece of fiction.

I really enjoyed this for what it was—a straightforward tale of vigilante justice and gruesome revenge. It’s not plot-heavy, nor does it have much character depth, but it’s the kind of novella that knows exactly what it is, and kudos to that. We follow a guy named Jake as he exacts his revenge on these three human sacks of shit cops that—in a moment of power-tripping—directly caused the death of his wife and unborn child. We feel for Jake, naturally, and cheer for him as he exacts his revenge on the pigs. As far as gore goes, I’ve definitely seen worse; but the kills here were elaborate, drawn-out, and satisfying. I could’ve used more descriptive language, and the ending could’ve had a bit more to it (the alternate ending should be scrapped entirely)… But, overall, this was a solid extreme horror. Recommended for fans of Saw 6 (my fav in the franchise)!

Jake on the way to hospital with his wife in labor he is stopped by police. The police overreacting and then complete abuse of power and corruption are responsible for the death of his wife and unborn child. Jake forced to do prison time has the unrelenting suffering of loss. He is pissed and the only way to deal with loss is to make the police and lying spouses suffer hells pain. One of the scumbag police will look at a huge gaping hole and a few dangling veins where his penis used to be. Another has his skull drilled in and his spouse has a number of drills tearing into hands, feet, a belt sander ripping flesh to the bones. Jake inflicts depraved torture and feels nothing as all his human emotions are forever eradicated.

MY FIRST WADE GARRETT READ

It is extreme horror with brutal maiming and kills. This story is also quite sad. I do like the fast pace of the story. It all happens so fast that there's no character development and their fates do not matter; at least they didn't for me. I will be adding Wade to my short list of extreme horror writers.

Not for the feint of heart!

Everything I've read by Wade H. Garrett has been an excellent, compelling read. Truth be told, this author is not a man I'd want to reside with by any means, due to the fact that he writes like he must be some kinda madman! However, I will continue to support him as a writer, because entertainment value alone...not to mention the way my heart pounds, I break out into a cold sweat, and I'll constantly be looking over my shoulder each & every time I read one of Mr. Garretts books. Bravo Sir! Keep 'em coming😃

DNF at about page 10.

The writing reminded me like a Penthouse letter at the start. Within the start the characters were described as looking like Colin Ferrell, Emma Stone and Seth Rogen.

The interaction between a man on the phone on 911 and then the police was a bit much, but I guess it would set up the rest of the story.

Not for me but if the synopsis intrigues you- check it out.

Pretty good

It has a lot of gore and some believable and some not quite believable actions. Even though it was a pretty short story I found myself thinking what if it had happened to me? Could I or would I respond the same way? Thankfully I don’t have to think about!

Horribly written. Literally every character is described as looking like some celebrity (Colin Farrell, Seth Rogen, Ron Perlman) it’s just lazy. The kills are alright, but it wasn’t worth it to trog through this absolutely abysmal novella.

Ugh, I am so let down. I was awestruck by The Gravedigger by the same author and so I was hoping for another banger of a story. Unfortunately, this wasn’t for me. I hate to sound pretentious, but I prefer stories with more, ah, substance. Yeah I have occasionally enjoyed the good ol’ gore fest, but for the most part, I need something besides an endless torture party to enjoy a book. I know, I know, it’s the essence of extreme horror, but I crave finesse. The Gravedigger had the same amount or exceeds the amount of torture in this book, and I loved it, because there was a story and substance there.

I think this book started off on the wrong foot for me purely because of the intro. There was no justification for the cops to do this, let alone to a woman in labor. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are some monstrous cops out there that have committed some awful crimes, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the beginning. A woman is in labor, and they decide this is the guy they want to fuck over? Why? What vendetta did they have against Jake? I don’t get it. Maybe I’m naive, maybe there are cops in this world that would assault a woman in labor who is having a medical emergency even after the dispatcher had informed them (I think that’s really what got me— the dispatcher supposedly notified them), and frame her husband just for shits and giggles, but, wouldn’t it have been easier to choose uh, I don’t know, anyone else? Someone who wasn’t in labor? That the dispatcher wasn’t informed of? That wasn’t having a medical emergency? It just seems so, ugh, I don’t know, tedious. I think it would’ve been better if the cops had some sort of vendetta against him, besides him having a bumper sticker they didn’t like. I mean, come on. I need a better reason than that.

I’m not a psychopath or a cop and I have zero authority and don’t get off on asserting my dominance over others, so maybe that’s the disconnect. I just don’t see a reason for any of this to happen, therefore, rendering the whole story redundant. Now onto the torture scenes, they were “good” I guess, creative, yeah, but I dunno. They were repetitive. I don’t enjoy stories that are flat torture with nothing backing it up, I just don’t. I need something, anything, a grain of substance, not just filler. Even if it’s 99% torture and 1% good story, I would rather have that than whatever ambiguous thing is going on here.

I don’t know, I just didn’t like it. It would’ve been better if I felt more attached to the characters, but I can only feel so much care for someone that I knew for like five pages. Make me feel something, besides being grossed out.

I’ll still try out his other stuff, because I think The Gravedigger is a hidden gem, but this one wasn’t for me.

woah so I'm not even sure where to even begin with this review. This was extreme horror at its finest. This was probably one of the more disturbing and gut wrenching books I've ever read and this one will for sure hunt me for a while. This one was super graphic, chilling, haunting and yet I could not put it down. I finished this one in two sittings since I needed a small break in the middle due to how graphic it was.like this one will literally make your stomach churn, you need a strong stomach for this one for sure. This book was about a guy who lost his family due to an unfortunate event that occurred when he was trying to get his wife to the hospital while she was in labor. After not getting justice for what happened that night, Jake decided to take matters into his own hands and man does he ever. You dont want to get on this guys bad side. Jake is out for revenge and hes not about letting you have the easy way out. no he makes sure his victims get the exact torture he feels they deserve. The way he got his revenge was pretty brutal but man this book was so twisted and messed up and gives you pretty much an idea of inside the mind of a psychopath who became that way due to grief and loss. If you like extreme horror and enjoy reading books so terrifying they just may give you nightmares than this is the book for you. I enjoyed how it had two different endings and both showed two different outcomes based on the descions the person made at the end. This book may have been short with a little over a 100 pages but they story and charcaters are sure to stay with you for a long time. Anyway off to go read something fluffy now lol!
anyway I felt this was pretty well writing and engaging and it's like one of those things you hate to look at but at the same time cant look away either.

Typical Wade G. Garrett

I've read everything by wade h. Garrett and as usual after reading his books, it leaves me out if breath longing for more. I csn never get enough of his writings.
He's a mordern day vigilante who extracts justice for the downtrodden, the voiceless, the helpless and law abiding and God fearing people whose cries for justice in the judicial system when they've been wrong, not only goes unheard but to add salt to the wounds, it is also flaunted in their faces.

Well now there's a new vindicator in town that does not let these wicked people who hide behind the appointments in high places and have the authority to do whatever to whoever whenever and wherever they want to.

I guarantee anyone who believes in justice for the underdog that reads just 1 of his books, wont be able to put it down until they've read all his books!! With the exception of 1 childrens book. "PYEWACKET". Just beware if you do dare read his books i suggest starting witb the "A GLIMPSE INTO HELL" series. * be sure to heed the warning at the beginning of each of his books unlike other warnings i suggest you take this one seriously! ,it us not for the squimesh, the politically correct, the ethically or the morally correct!! Once you've read it your mind cannot unread it. His writing has a way of leaving one with feeling of vindication or unrepentance. Depends on which side of the fence you're on!

SAW but with cops. Great story with an exciting inciting incident. It contained some unique SAW-esque ingenuity but in my opinion the execution was poor. The grammar errors and repetitive dialogue and actions really took me out of it and made it drag in the middle for me. All of the characters sounded pretty much the same and kept repeating a lot of the same phrases. But the gore and violence was pretty much constant. Overall a really entertaining, very extreme novella with a lot of trigger warnings including lots of genital mutilation and evisceration. If this would have had a pass with an experienced editor and had the grammar and repetitive things polished, I think I would have given it five stars. Not sure I will be reading more by this author simply because of all the grammar issues (I feel like that will be a recurring issue through his other works and I'm not here to drag anyone down) But I really wish him luck. He's got some great ideas!

First book that I listened on an audiobook, and honestly I don't think I could've chosen a worse book. If the tryhard edgy prose isn't embarrassing enough, they hired the worst possible voice actor who voiced the characters with annoying steoreotypical Southern drawl (no offense, but they made this accent sound as grating as possible) that sounds laughable when they tried to emulate the female voices. It's obvious the author didn't pass high school biology because the anatomical details didn't make sense either. As for the story, it sounds like a Saw superfan trying to make a twisted fanfiction but failed horribly on all levels, especially plot and characterization. I don't think this would even pass for middle-school-level writing.

I am all for a revenge story where crooked cops get their just deserts, but the dialogue and overall writing of this was just awful. None of it felt believable as what people would actually say, especially in moments of distress. Also, it's difficult to root for a main character who SAs (although not with sexual intent, but still, it's assault) a female, no matter how terrible that female is, and who uses "that's gay" as an insult. If you're looking for straight up gore I can see why people would be entertained by this, but I couldn't separate it from the terrible writing.
