A short book that appealed to me because it was about the musicians from my home parish and elsewhere in Acadiana. I had no idea that Parks, La. had such a jazz music heritage. I suspect the author wanted to learn more about Bunk Johnson, a contemporary of Buddy Bolden. He found several musicians who performed with Bunk Johnson. It appears the only source material is from the interviews the author conducted with his informants. An interesting book but there’s simply not enough. But do read it to honor the small town musicians who performed for the small towns.
