The mystery surrounding her disappearance is legendary in Wolfe Creek. But she's far from gone…
Aimee Styles vanished in the tiny mountain town of Wolfe Creek two years ago. She's supposed to be dead. The only problem is, she's not. What the locals don't know is that she lurks there as a werewolf to this day. A symbol of strength and tragedy, but mostly a protector to those who need her most.
When Doctor Jake Blackstock is called in to treat a sick woman, he has no idea the beauty he's nursing back to health is Aimee. By the time he realizes what he's gotten himself into, it's too late—he's already falling in love. But Jake doesn't trust easily. A native son of mysterious Wolfe Creek, he's always been able to recognize danger in its most natural form. And he knows whatever Aimee's hiding might just be the end of them both.

4 - Death comes to us all... Even in fairy tales. Stars!
The third book in the Wolfe Creek series more than made up for the disappointment of its predecessor for me. Kaylie Newell pitched Aimee and Jake’s story perfectly. Well-paced, beautifully descriptive and extremely eerie right up until it’s heart-pounding ending.
If you have read the previous two books in the series you will know a little about Aimee Styles already, her death (or supposed death) was the catalyst that bought her best friend to Wolfe Creek looking for her, since then and through the books we have learned that not all is as it seems with the town or its inhabitants.
”Now’s a good time to stop living like you’re dead.”
Two years later, and Aimee is forced to confront her life, in view that everyone thinks she’s dead when struck down by a nasty flu, and in requiring treatment is bought into contact with the town Doctor, single father Jake Blackstock. We met and learned a little about Jake in the second book, as whilst camping his son Daniel went missing in the woods, and was subsequently found by town bad boy; Zane Wolfe.
”You’re safe now.”
The Moonshadows Daughter took me right back to the creepy, spine-tingling look-over-your-shoulder-while-reading feelings I had when I read the first book.
"I'm tired... of being alone."
Kaylie has managed to mix up an emotive love story, added to a paranormal influence with a dash of things-that-go-bump-in-the-night perfectly, and I enjoyed it so much, and read it so quickly, that I almost felt like it had finished as soon as I had started it.
”You’re safe now.”
It felt that the end of this book was the end of the series, if so I look forward to seeing what the author has in store for us next. If not I would be happy to return to the creepy Wolfe Creek for more adventures.
ARC provided via Netgalley, it was a pleasure to provide the above honest review.
I listened to this one. It was about 5 hours and went rather quickly. I liked the characters and the world despite this being #3 and I hadn't read the first two. The narrator did a great job.
Aimee was a werewolf that didn't know how to adjust to society. Only a few people in her circle knew she was alive living in the woods. One day she gets terribly sick and the sexy doctor Jake helps her get better. He knew who she was, and he promised not to tell anyone she was alive.
The romance between them grew, until Jake realized that he's in love with someone that should be dead. How can he have a normal life with her? There was also this evil presence that the protagonists felt in the woods. The feeling occupied the majority of the book, and I wished something exciting occurred.
The Moonshadow's Daughter was well written but predictable. My main complaint is there wasn't enough action.
The Wolfe Creek series has been hit and miss for me so far, the first book was outstanding but the second seriously fell short, so to discover early on that the magic had returned in The Moonshadow’s Daughter restored my faith hugely.
Kaylie Newell has recreated the eerie darker atmosphere that held me captive throughout the first book, Lone Wolfe Protector, and combined with warmth, intimacy and couple who endear themselves, it quickly grabbed hold. As far as the world is concerned Aimee Styles is dead, her disappearance a mystery to all but a close few, but when the towns doctor/grieving widower/single dad/hottie Jake Blackstock is called to treat her, he instantly recognises who she is and is mesmerised and intrigued.
This was the book I had hoped for; our couple have a natural chemistry, are passionate together, likeable, a serious dose of cute comes courtesy of Jake's son and the romance was balanced with the more mysterious edge of something lurking in the shadows. It didn't hold the same level of mystery as LWP, but with an engaging writing style, Kaylie Newell has ended this series on a high.

★Review★
So, I did not know when I got this that it was the 3rd in the series, my fault entirely, and while there were some references made to things that had happened in the previous 2 books, I still enjoyed it, but I wold advise that it is read in order however, as the heroine's back story was not massively touched on in this book, and clearly had happened in one of the previous books.
However, I did enjoy this. There was a dark creepy thread woven throughout the story. It was actually quite tense at times.
And while it did feel like there was a bit of insta lust/love going on, it actually managed to not feel rushed.
The hero for me, maybe thought about his dead wife a touch too much but then it had not really been that long, so it still felt like he was in the first throes of grief and still struggling due to that. Yet, it just managed to avoid it feeling like the love between the hero and heroine was second best. Just. So thankfully I did not end the story thinking that the hero still wished for his wife back. It was more a sorrow for what she would miss and how she had died.
The author has managed to neatly blend a tense creepy story, with a believable romance, despite the rather recent loss of the hero's wife. It was very well done, and I will be going back to read book 1 and 2.
The Moonshadow's Daughter is part of Wolfe Creek series, even though you can read it as a stand alone, I felt something was lacking because I haven't read the previous books. Part of that was Aimee, she's going through the transition of normal young woman to werewolf functioning in a normal society; but you come in halfway through that transition. You don't see much growing as a character because of it. The book does have a definite creep factor, the mentions and sections where "something" is out there in the woods watching really keeps you on the edge. Along with that are some pretty erie descriptives, it has some great descriptive scenes settings.
Aimee had been living in the woods since her transformation, it was easier and safer for her to be or and away from everybody. She had also been presumed dead, away from her parents and physically and mentally student than the girl that they knew. Aimee is now struggling with the urge to reenter society or stay in the woods alone forever. Her discussion gets taken out of her hands when she falls sick, she just barely makes it to her friends house; one of only three people who knows she's still alive. So sick her friends calls the doctor in.
Doctor Jake Blackstock was just grateful that his parents could take care of his son. Ever since Jake lost his wife a year ago he had been struggling with raising his young son on his own. Young Daniel, was lost in the woods and claims that a wolf man saved him and brought him back to camp. Nightly he still had reoccurring dreams of the monster that killed his mother and of the nice wolf man that saved him. Late one night Jake gets called out to the inn to treat a patient. Right away Jake knows she's something he recognizes her from the search party that was held the commercials with her face plastered all over the place asking have you seen me; it was also insta-love. Bring Aimee back to health was just part of his job, but even after she was better and disappeared again he could not stop thinking about her, worrying about her out in the woods all by herself and with winter coming the drop in temperature. He sent a message through their mutual friend for her to come see him for a follow up visit. Aimee should have stayed away but the kind and gentle doctor made her wish things could be different. She should have stayed away especially when he offered her the extra room. Daniel fell in love with Aimee almost from the get go, and as cute and adorable as that little boy is Aimee couldn't stop loving him too. The more time didn't together the more Jake falls in love with Aimee, but he is aware she is still hiding something from him. Aimee feels guilty but she's scared to share her secret, scared of what Jake will think of what he will do.
But something sinister is also out in the woods. Aimee can feel it, something watching Daniel and Jake. Something is also killing local cattle; cows, sheep and even a local who was out camping was bit by a freakin big animal that moved fast as lightning. Aimee and the other werewolves in the town have an idea who it is but can't find him, Aimee world falls apart after she tells Jake what she is and when the monster strikes again Jake's world threatens to fall apart as well.
Overall, this was a creepy, but in a good way, book. The love story was good, satisfying; the suspense was really good and the pay off at the climax was suitable, good but not the best.
This was a good ending to the series. There is some light suspense throughout the series but the main plot revolves around a group of people dealing with newly discovered transformation into werewolves and how they maintain their relationship to the normal world.
WOW! This has been the book in the Wolfe Creek series that I have been eagerly awaiting… Aimee’s story. It does not disappoint. When the series started Aimee Styles’s best friend Maggie came to town to investigate her death when in reality fast forward two years later, Aimee is alive and is now a werewolf. Everyone in the town thinks she is dead—except the chosen few who know of her secret. Aimee plans to keep to herself and not let anyone know she is alive and keep going on the way she is-alone and in self-isolation but she takes ill very fast with what sounds like the flu and the town doctor, who is also a single father , Jake Blackstock ends up treating her for a nasty viral flu bug. Now for those readers who have read the previous books, we met him and his son Daniel in book 2 when they were camping and they had a misadventure. You could tell that the H/h had this instant connection immoderately and the sexual chemistry between them was piquant and sweet. They had this chemistry and easy flow and when the big scene between them came, my heart broke for Aimee. See, Jake still thinks about his dead wife and has moments when he goes back and thinks a lot about her and compares her to Aimee. And Aimee is a werewolf –that’s gotta be a dealbreaker for any man who has a kid. She is now ready to come back into the living world with people and try to slowly feel her way around and see if she can do it, but only if Jake is with her. At the same thing this is going on, there is an evil force around Jake’s home stalking Jake, Aimee and Daniel. Aimee tries to warn Jake but he doesn’t listen…and before too long a showdown happens. Will the MC come out and have their HEA or will the inevitable happen and Aimee end up alone, without her heart and just back where she when this started? I do not want to give any spoilers away but I have to say, this story made me so mad at times. I could smack Jake for being so stubborn and I wanted to give Aimee a big hug. I loved every page, every glance, every word. This paranormal romance is one for romance novels because it isn’t a cookie cutter type, it is unique and is just the kind I love reading. I hope there will be more in this series. I do wish there was an epilogue to this story where we now how the couple ended up in their lives at least 6 months down the road. That is something I would have liked to have read.
My rating: 4.5 stars **** ***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review****
I have to admit that I did not know what to expect from this book. I was so pleasantly surprised though! I have not read the first two books in the series, but I was able to pick right up with this one no problem. I really want to go back and read the first two now though!! This was such a great story. I didn't really even realize that this was a story about shifters, that is how well Kaylie Newell did with this story. I got sucked in from page one and could not put it down. I ended up reading it in one sitting because I couldn't wait to see how it all ended. You will not be disappointed with this read!
Aimee is supposed to be dead and is to all of her family and pretty much everyone else. She has been learning how to adapt to her newfound abilities of being a shifter. When Aimee falls ill, there are only selected people that can know about her situation so Jake is called in. Jake is a doctor, but he is also a trusted one that can keep Aimee's secret. Jake nurses Aimee back to health, but has to restrain his attraction to her and remember that he is a doctor that has a job to do and that is to make her better.
When Aimee recovers, she goes to Jake's house to thank him for his care and meets his 3 year old son. Aimee immediately hits it off with him and helps him with his cat. When Jake and Aimee see each other again, sparks continue to fly. Jake wants to make sure that Aimee is safe so he offers her a place to stay in a little house/room that he has on his property. Aimee takes Jake up on the offer and moves in to the house immediately. Aimee is glad because she feels that she has a job of protecting them because she can sense something in the woods that surround Jake's house.
Jake and Aimee continue to grow closer and closer and things get intimate for them. Jake develops feelings for Aimee for the first time since his wife's death. When Jake senses that Aimee is hiding something from him, things start to be strained in their relationship. When Aimee finally tells Jake the truth, he sort of looses it. Will Jake and Aimee find their way back to each other? Will Aimee be able to keep the bad that she has sensed away from Jake and his son? You need to read this story to find out. Such a great read and just the right amount of romance and suspense!! Thanks Kaylie Newell for a great read and I can't wait for more from you!
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Entangled Publishing (Covet) for an honest review. I requested this book since the synopsis sounded interesting and the first book in the series had very high ratings and reviews. This is the third in the series and although it could be read as a standalone, I would strongly suggest reading them in order. I'm glad I invested in the time to go back and read the first two. Since I knew what this book was about, it kind of spoiled book 1 and parts of the mystery surrounding Maggie's missing friend (Aimee, who is the heroine for this book). I still enjoyed it as it established the town, characters and mystery. I noticed book 2 has mixed reviews and it does slow down in comparison to book 1. In book 2 you know what the mystery is and what Zane is going through. It seemed to be more about him going through the discovery process and learning how to cope with who he was becoming. It took its time as we learned Zane and Candi's story with a more sedate pacing.
Book 3 is also different and I loved how it brings it all together. As we saw Aimee helping Zane come to terms with his changes, now Aimee is in need of help with moving forward after two years in isolation. She's accepted what she is, but isn't sure how to integrate back into a world where she's vulnerable. There's really only one big scene with Aimee and Zane and it was perfect! They have such an easiness and brotherly/sisterly bond that's developed between them. Given the death of Jake's wife and who Aimee is now, you know an inevitable confrontation scene is coming. I'm pretty sure my heart cracked when we got there and it hurt for both of them.
There isn't another character who was set up in this book, so I think the series has come to a natural conclusion. I enjoyed these books and highly recommend giving them a chance (but read them in order to immerse yourself in their world).
I received an eARC of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Actual Rating 3.5 Stars I rarely read paranormal adult romances – somehow for me shifters are much better off in a YA novel rather than an adult one. You may be thinking, then why am I requesting a paranormal book to review? Truth is, somehow this blurb struck a chord with me – maybe it’s the element of suspense in it or the element of heavy angst in it – I do remember I was in a mood for a heavy angsty read and therefore, my request for this book!
So let’s understand this – I liked this book! I did – but I wasn’t as overwhelmed by it as I wanted to – And I REALLY wanted to be! I wanted this book to tear me apart, break me down in a way that I would feel I never even wanted to be whole again.
First this book read as if it was a sequel or even a part of series which by a cursory glance to Goodreads proved me wrong (I think), because author talked about characters in a way that she expected that I would be acquainted by them (I wasn’t!).
Second, I really liked both Aimee and Jake, but individually. Together, they had a companion sort of relationship that turned into love so quickly that it gave me a head rush and I actually had to check whether I had missed a page or a whole chapter in the process.
The Saving Grace or Graces? The plot as well as the writing – both in different circumstances could have made this book one of the best books and could have catapulted into the paranormal genre. I loved how the author handled the characters – as I said, I really liked them individually – both characters being some that I would have rooted for (and I did!). The writing was fluid and had no breaks as far as I was concerned, it just lacked that “something” extra that could have endeared this book that’s all.
Jake Blackstock finds himself fiercely attracted to Kaylie despite her secrets and the shadows in her eyes in this thrilling paranormal romance.
Since being bitten by a werewolf, Aimee Styles has let everyone believe she’s dead and the reader can’t help but get drawn into the story as circumstances interrupt her self-imposed lifestyle and puts her right in the path of the sexy doctor. The chemistry is sweet and spicy and the sex scenes are hot but with secrets and painful pasts against them there is a lot of emotional turmoil for Jake and Aimee to have overcome. Strong compelling characters grab the attention right from the very beginning while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of suspense and romance.
Shiver inducing, spine tingling tension builds throughout the story as something is lurking in the woods of Wolfe Creek, something so evil that it won’t hesitate to rip Jake and Aimee’s life and new love apart and it adds lots of tension to their relationship because increases the anxiety surrounding Aimee’s secrets. The intriguing events pull the reader in and refuse to let go while the well written scenes and details bring the story to life and make it easy for the reader to picture each and every scene.
I was completely caught up in this story from the very beginning especially as both Aimee and Jake’s situation gripped me by the heart and made it impossible for me not to be curious about how their romance would work out and if you have the previous books in the series then you know that Wolfe Creek gives off this mysterious feel that also captures your interest and makes the perfect backdrop for Kaylie Newells’ werewolves.

The Moonshadow's Daughter is the third and presumably final novel in the Kaylie Newell-penned paranormal romance series entitled Wolfe Creek. Fans of the series have gotten bits and pieces of Aimee Styles's story of how she came to be a werewolf and her decision to go into hiding. Here, readers finally get the resolution to her tale and she finds it with Dr. Jake Blackstock, who lost his wife just a year ago after an animal attack and has been caring for his young son ever since. This is my favorite among the three books because I liked how the relationship between Aimee and Jake developed and how everything seemed to come full circle. The answers we've been looking for are up for grabs and offered in an entertaining way.
This was a fast-paced and well-written story and had that air of mystery and suspense that's been consistent all throughout the series. All the elements blend well together and while it is a love story, Aimee and Jake's tale isn't overly romanticized, especially since Aimee is keeping her being a werewolf secret from Jake and we all know that secrets never stay hidden for long. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm presuming this signals the end to this trilogy, especially since there weren't any other supporting characters that stood out and are worthy to get their own stories told. Yhis book about life's second chances gave the Wolfe Creek series a fitting end and tied up all loose ends. The Moonshadow's Daughter gets 4.5 stars, rounded off to five stars.
I feel like this book should come with a warning: Love triangle ahead!
Yeah, so the hero is recently widowed (less than one year really) and let's just say that he's not over her death - AT ALL. Now don't get me wrong, I know everyone has a life before but really, what happened between Lizzie, Jake and Aimee just did not seem all that fair to anyone.
So yeah, although the whole Aimee-Jake relationship felt weird, on the whole it was an okay book, but that was mostly due to Aimee being such a nicey-nice girl and Daniel being a cutie pie of a little boy.
Recieved an arc courtesy of the author and Net Galley. review to come closer to release date. Great book! Loved the characters and how they developed. Both the H and h were easy to like. There were some sweet moments and some blush worthy ones as well. Overall I was happy with the story and look forward to reading more of this authors work in the future.
Ugh. I blew through this entire series in like 4 days, so I mean... it keeps you coming back for more, that's for sure. I enjoyed the character development, found family, and the journey of the 3 different couples in the stories. But I found myself wanting more. Big things would happen and then we would get no explanation or conclusion/closure of them. It would have been so much more enjoyable to read if we would have been able to see a little of Aimee and her parents reuniting at the end, Jake's realization that Koda was the one that saved Daniel, etc. But to me, a lot of the story just felt a bit anticlimactic in that way- the parts I was the most excited for ended up getting no more recognition/dialogue from the characters which just left me feeling some type of way.
Overall though, I enjoyed this series.

This entire series has been an unexpected pleasure! I didn't know what to expect of these books and they are still a bit of mystery: part contemporary romance, part urban fantasy, part crime investigation. what they are, though is well-written, well-paced and all around addictive. And the narration was great, I have really enjoyed both the voice of the narrator and the pace/ tone used!
I have just finished book 3 and, surprisingly, I can't really decided which story and couple was ma favourite! They were all very enjoyable in their own ways. Maybe book 3 because I enjoyed tying up all the loose ends!
This is book three of the Wolfe Creek Series. I liked this one much better than the second book. Aimee Styles had vanished in the town of Wolfe Creek two years ago...but now she is sick and needing help. She reaches out to the other like her. In hopes of getting help and finding someone to keep her secret.
🌞🌞🌞🌞 (4/5 Stars) I liked this one much better than the second book but the sensual scenes were a little cringe worthy in my opinion. It felt so awkward to read. Not too shabby though.
The Moonshadow’s Daughter, book three, is based off of the town’s doctor as he seeks answers for the death of his wife a year prior, he discovers the mystery of the missing friend of Maggie from book one. As well as peeling back the layers of Wolfe Creek’s own secrets on his journey.
I really enjoyed listening to this series. It was a light storyline, entertaining and humorous at times. The characters are all likeable and the storyline wraps up nicely. I would definitely recommend if you are interested in some light reading and are into paranormal fantasy.
Very nice audible listen. I found this story to be a nice closing story to the ongoing series and the ending was very sweet. Although I do wish we could have know how Daniel felt about Aimee not being able to attend his birthday party.
Very slow burn but I found this one not as slow of a burn as the previous two. This book also had the most paranormal vibe out of the three - so that made me happy as well.
All 3 books in this series was surprisingly good and I enjoyed them. Great characters with suspense and some surprises. Storyline was strong enough to keep your interest
If you're looking for a paranormal series that is good but also short and sweet I would recommend this series.
It’s a very interesting series. I just wish that the author would add more substance to the story. It has a beginning and an ending but no middle. The middle is just rehashing the beginning. There needs to be more meat in the middle.
This series ended on a good note with this book. It was my favorite in the series. This one focused on Aimee and Jake. I liked these characters and story a lot more. Nice ending battle between good and evil.
An absolutely exhilarating, thrilling and beautiful journey to go on with Aimee and Jake. This was my favorite out of this series, I didn’t want it to end. Loved it!
