Los Angeles, city of angels but some of those angels have blood on their hands. Colin Graves is a handsome, young LAPD detective who moves in and out of Hollywood circles with ease while also getting dirty tangling with LA’s most dangerous criminal organizations. When an enigmatic mob boss, Richard Pembroke, mistakes Colin for someone else and ruthlessly takes away his most precious gift, Colin becomes hellbent on destroying everything in Richard’s life at all costs. In Three Graves, newcomer Zack Kaplan takes readers on an uproarious sometimes shocking jaunt through the dark criminal underbelly of LA that is at times both compelling and witty. A place where rogue cops take on seedy criminals beneath the glamour and glitz of the Hollywood facade.

This is my book. Yup of course I like it. I thought getting it done and being happy with it would be the hard part. Unfortunately, getting people to actually read it, is like touching the moon. I feel like a used Encyclopedia Salesman in New Orleans 3 months after Katrina. Or a blind archer asking for volunteers to let me shoot an apple off your head.

Its on Amazon both eBook and Paperback. Its a fast, funny, violent crime revenge thriller based in LA. My influences are Quentin Tarantino, James Ellroy, Elmore Leonard, the incomparable Yakov Smirnoff, and of course Thurgood Marshall's missing testicle (google it).

Its on Kindle Unlimited and otherwise fairly priced, you really have nothing to lose and if you buy it, I'll have the 27 cents a day to help those hungry kids.

Just finished "Three Graves" by Zack Kaplan, who, if you're in on the joke, is "someone who can't even spell iambic pentameter and is probably some asshole that does Crossfit for fun."

Indeed, every character in this grisly comedy is imbued with Kaplan's inimitable flair for the appalling. In Kaplan's world - contemporary Los Angeles that brings to mind Nathanial West's "Day of the Locust" and Alex Cox's "Repo Man" - romantic interest is expressed through obscene gestures, friendly affection through jokes about abortion, and brotherly loyalty through obsessive, maniacal vengeance.

If you're turned off by graphic descriptions of torture and mutilation, this book is for you. Kaplan will hit you hard from the start. And then he'll hog-tie you and throw you in the back of the trunk. Keep reading. If you survive, you'll be rewarded with the bittersweet essence of his death-marked tale. At its core, "Three Graves" is a love story. It's about the pain of loss - and the holes we dig to bury the pain.

Kaplan isn't trying to shock you. It's taken as a matter of course that the cops and the gangsters are equally depraved. Actors, agents, and drug-dealing M.D.'s all play their parts.

And yet, humanity does rear its ugly, alien head in all the wrong places, which isn't so much a sign of some mysterious, distorted optimism hidden in Kaplan's psyche as it is a clear-eyed observation of the society we inhabit.

Three Graves is an absolute blast from beginning to end! Fast-paced, funny, bloody, gory, over-the-top, and truly captivating, Zack Kaplan has written a story in the style of Quentin Tarantino‘s Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill, with a little Reservoir Dogs thrown in for good measure.

It’s a classic revenge story fueled by hate and the need for vengeance. But be aware that the gloves are off when it comes to language and violence and that the time is not always flowing forward, so pay close attention to the narrative!

Corrupt cops, ruthless mobsters, dangerous henchmen, murders, killings, perverts, spoiled kids, guns, knives, swords, grenades twists, turns, dark humor, brilliant writing, and a lot of pop fiction references combine in Three Graves in order to assure the highest level of satisfaction for the reader.

Director, producer, musician and award-winning actor Maxwell Hamilton delivers a superb performance for Three Graves. He sets a breakneck pace throughout this insane adventure, never missing a bit, always infusing the action with just the right amount of urgency and drama. His voices are spot on and help the listener easily differentiate between the characters. Speaking about the characters, you will find here some of the most colorful and memorable in recent memory. This narrator is the perfect choice for such a bloody good audiobook.

Quentin Tarantino fans will find Three Graves viscerally entertaining! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves over-the-top stories, flawed characters, and crazy situations. I really hope to see Zack Kaplan releasing more books and I hope that he will stick with this amazing narrator, as well. Also, I’d say that Three Graves would look great, by the way, as a movie!

This is what Crime Fiction for adults should be. No namby-pamby, touchy-feely whining about loss and feelings all the way through the book. This is, "Revenge is a dish best served cold," even after losing a limb carrying on instead of wallowing in a pit of despair. The writing is clever. Very clever. I would have loved more of these two brothers. I confess I didn't see half of the ending. I look forward to more novels, Mr. Kaplan.

Best. Cop. Story. Ever.

Great. That's all that needs to be said about this masterpiece., but I can't stop there, I could never forgive myself. I absolutely loved the humor and bond of the protagonists and the storyline was impeccable. This is truly one of the terribly overused phrase "unputdownable" reads. It has elements so unique yet familiar and comfortable that you will find yourself wanting more, like a junkie needs a fix to start the day. Can't wait to read another.

Colin gets mistaken for a crime boss and is kidnapped and tortured (his arm hacked off with an ax) ; his wife is murdered, before the kidnapper finds out the information is bad.
Colin, a cop, and his buddy plot revenge and carry it out. A great twist at the end

Three graves is where boredom was buried

Brilliantly written, by a mind that is constantly effervescent with ideas. Full of suspense. It gave me hours of pleasure.

Three Graves was a freakin great read. I read it in two days and couldn’t put it down. The characters, big and small, have great stories that are worth the investment. Overall, it’s some exceptional storytelling with a splash of dark comedic relief. I would recommend Three Graves to anyone that loves a solid.. yet quickly-violent, cop & mob plot.
