But not even death will keep her from fighting—not when her family at the academy is under attack.
Isadora knows far too little about magic, and she understands even less about the spirit world. But with the help of some unexpected friends, she intends to find the ghost with the power to turn the tides of this magical war.
Will Isadora find the way to survive the spirit world? Or will it claim her forever?
Lucía Ashta is the internationally top 20 bestselling author of young adult, new adult, and adult paranormal and urban fantasy books, including the series Magical Creatures Academy, Witches of Gales Haven, Smoky Mountain Pack, and Supernatural Bounty Hunter.
When Lucía isn't writing, she's reading, painting, or adventuring. Magical fantasy is her favorite, but the action, romance, and quirky characters are what keep her hooked on books.
An ethereal trip to the spirit world. Isadora didn’t think she was dead. After all she could still see and hear everyone around her. But when they couldn’t hear her, she realized something was terribly wrong. I can only imagine how scary this was for her, especially since her brother Nando was so upset with what happened to her. Through Elwin, the firedrake, the magicians tasked her with a unique quest while in the spirit world and with the help of some unusual spirit witches, she found what she needed. However, she had been given some pretty vague instructions on how to return to her body. As usual, Isa relies on her own wits and intuition and hopes that is all that she needs.
This book comes in with Isa outside of her body. Mordecai has asked something of Isa and she must decide if she will do it or not. Following along with this journey of Isa's is amazing. I truly recommend reading this series that is full of dragons and magic and life.
ONE BRIGHT SHINNING STAR!!! OMG! Wow. Man. I'll get it out eventually. Maybe. Hopefully. I love, love, love this series. It is so freaking awesome, I'm at a loss for words. Never fear, I'll find 'em. Lucia just blows me away with her knowledge and insight. I don't think anyone can be as talented and expressive as she is. I mean really, read some of her work and you'll be just as in awe of her as we are. Her imagination is astonishing and vast. The way she builds up her characters and the scenes are something to behold. I hate to see this series coming to an end but this bad boy is ruling the universe. Talk about hitting the ground running and hard pressed if you have to put it down. I can't wait until I get the next installment. If you can get addicted to reading, I'm past gone. You're captivated from the start. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. All the twists and turns along with a few glitches here and there make for one enjoyable experience. You have no trouble picturing it in your mind's eye as each scenario plays out perfectly. I can't wait for the next installment. Go ahead a grab your copy, you won't be sorry. It takes you on a thrill of life time. Lucia did a phenomenal job bringing this read together brilliantly. Fantastic job Lucia, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
“Sometimes magic requires the ultimate sacrifice.”
I am massively addicted to Lucia Ashta’s Magical Arts Academy series. Now in Ghostly Return, its seventh iteration (how’s that for fancy word-smithing?), it’s wonderful heroine Isadora is indeed taking on the ultimate sacrifice. I’d not bet against Isa despite the little “inconvenience” of her death, and the slight problem that she understands even less about the spirit world than the little she understands about magic. How she deals with all of this makes for a fantastic tale when left in the hands of a master story-crafter like this author. Perfectly plotted and with a wonderful cast of characters, new (gotta love ghosts) and returning, this book is just pure fun. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
In the final chapter of our last book (#6), Isadora has died. But is she really dead? Only Elwin, the firedrake, can see and speak to her. He passes on to Arianne that her spirit is still there. Mordecai wants her to find his brother Albacus, but her brother Nando is against it, for fear she won't be able to return to her body. He gives his permission for 2 hrs, Only after Isa says she wants to try. After Mordecai gives her directions she's off, only to run into Arianne's great great aunt who's been earth bound for over a hundred years. Together they get her (the aunt) to the light and cross her over. Now its time to find Albacus. Will she or won't she? And how much trouble will this young witch get herself into? Will she be able to return to her body or will an be trapped in the spirit world? All those questions will be answered in this book. I love this series and him so pleased its state all in the witching world. I received a free copy of this but book and chose to review it.
one of the most interesting pieces in Isa's story. How would it feel like to be dead but not entirely dead? To find yourself in a ghostly world, surrounded by the spirits of strangers, and interacting with them? How easy, or how hard would it be to direct your own magic to reconnect with your body and return to the world of the living? And most of all, what endless possibilities hides this shadow world? It's a journey full of explorations of the unknown, and Isa, involuntarily thrown into this situation, peeks behind the curtain to show us what her spiritual world looks like and who occupies it. Besides, she has a noble quest to fulfill, and with her kind heart, she will do whatever she can to achieve the success. However, more interesting revelations are present in this installment, especially about the feelings of some characters, and the silent responses to them from other sides... I found it rather endearing, and would love to see where this will proceed in the next book.
Book seven of the Magical Arts Academy, 'Ghostly Return' has the Author's continuous creative imagination take the reader on a spellbinding journey into the unknown. Lucia Ashta masterfully brings the story and character development along in a way that is not forced, yet, enthralls the reader to continue along. Expertly penned, and presented in such a way where turning a page becomes instant, the reader does not know where the development of the characters or plot is going, from the action to all the twists and turns, and back again to another turn, and a new twist, and a new action. Fascinating situations arise that fully captures the reader's attention all the way. Thoroughly enjoyable! Recommended! Gifted wit a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Ghostly Return, Book 7 of the Magical Arts Academy by Lucia Ashta is another fantastic addition. Lucia has an exceptionally imaginative, creative mind. She is an author that has the ability with words to bring the story to life. This book takes a unique change in that Isa has made the ultimate sacrifice, death, and is willing to find Albacus before she returns to her body. All the characters are exceptionally well developed and growing as they progress through the series. This is a series once you start reading you will not be able to stop reading as after each installment you are left with wanting more. I highly recommend this series and know you will not be sorry and will be like the rest of us, left with wanting more. Received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Dying to help your friends may be taking things a little too far, but what if you are already dead? Would you risk loosing your chance to return to life in order to help your friends? Isa does just that and in the process helps one ghost find its way and provides juicy gossip to another group of ghosts who help her in return. But will she make it back in time to resume her life....
This series is a wonderful series of entertaining characters and page turning adventures. I hate having to put the book down to go to work.
I voluntarily review an ARC. This is the 7th book of the Magical Arts Academy series. The books should be read in order. Due to an unfortunate incident Isa is dead. Almost. She has to make an impossible decision - to get her spirit back into her body or to use this situation to help locate Albacus and risk her only chance to stay alive. Once more Lucía Ashta gets her nail biting readers glued to the story til the last page. Highly recommended series.
This is the seventh book in this series and if you haven't started reading this series yet I advise you to start from the beginning so you know what is going on or you will be lost just like Isa thought she was when things went the way they did for her in this book. Does she find the one she was seeking or did she find much more? To find out you have to catch up from the start and then you will find the answers all seeks to find...
This is another winner. I love this author, she writes wonderful storylines and great characters. This book I was waiting to see if she does what she is supposed to do. She finally got her confidence to do what she needed to do. I highly recommend all her books to everyone who loves witches and ghost stories and teenagers becoming adults. Diana Romano
Isadora's adventures continue as she first has to try and find Albacus and then find a way to return to her body. Her new world keeps getting more interesting and complex the more we learn about it.
This is a totally addictive magical series that is well written with a fantabulous continuous storyline & some amazing characters! This 7th instalment is just awesome and will have you on the edge of your seat experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions and I cannot wait for the next book!
I enjoyed this book, as I have the others. It does seem to be taking a while to really get anywhere though. I’m hoping that changes soon. The story is told well. Looking forward to more.
What a twist. Isa messes with her magic and mistakes happen. The spirit world is not like anything we read about in this book. Well start reading already. It just gets better and better.
These books where short and fast to read. I started them and couldn't put them down. I didn't get my reviews in because I didn't want to stop. So much goodness on these books. You are going to like every one of these characters.
Isa helps the firedrakes & gains a mental link with one. SPOILER ALERT: The kids schooling changes to a more apprenticeship type teaching. The brothers/sisters are separated. And Isa visits the spirit world.
I believe this is the turning point in the series.
If Isa can make her way through the obstacles in this book, then she can do anything. I truly think this experience has changed her for the better and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the rest of the series.
The way this author writes makes you feel as if you are more than just reading this book but as if you are immersed in the pages. I love how she ends her books with cliff hangers. So imaginative and the characters feel like friends
Is book is 5 - 8 of a 13 book series. I'm going to post this review to all 4 since it covers them all.
Well written books and a fun story ruined by being broken up into little pieces. Authors really need to stop wasting their time and our money trying to get us buy books that are not whole.
Another wonderful book by Author Lucia Ashta. It drew me in from beginning to end. The characters are so awesome. Love the character of Isadora. Can't wait to read the next one.
