this was SO WEIRD
-high incest level even among the gothics which is a loaded field; this man had so much charisma even his ‘mother’ and ‘daughter’ wanted him 🥴(obviously his cousins do, as is only natural and right in a gothic)
-haunted dolls, ghosts, reincarnation delusions, secret passageways, foreboding castle, a fortune hanging in the balance, weird stuff about the Irish, possibly evil child who uses a wheel chair, full on abduction, dangerous cliffs right outside your home, mysterious pasts, freaky families, overly involved and years long plots for revenge… it was packed with a cornucopia tropes! but still managed to be repetitive? and the heroine had about as much agency as a fairytale princess (which is to say none) and the smarts of a toad.
i enjoyed this immensely because it was just buck-wild and absurd but i cannot in good conscience say it was good
