I loved this book. The blending of Mystic Springs and Sage with her daughters Sandy and Coral from Waterfell Tweed was unexpected but amazing now that everyone can see the spirits in Mystic Springs.
Coral is a murder suspect as she discovers the victim while walking after a concert. There are a lot of suspects as the victim was not a very popular man. Connie, Sage, Sandy and some of the spirits decide to investigate themselves.
Up to the end I had no idea who the killer was. I had an idea why but I was so wrong. You need to read this book. It also has a cool Halloween Party.
A good read until the end. Really, really weak ending. Plus a few more proofing errors then normal. Her daughters are coming to see her over the Halloween period and she is as excited as she is scared. What will they do or say? Another worry is that the developer has set his eyes on the ghosts mansion and wants to tear it down and build a supermarket. Plus her friend is acting oddly concerning the arrival of her sister's group and the gig they have planned. When the developer turns up dead is it the curse of the mansion or has one of his enemies taken it to rid the world of a man that only one person seems to think well of. As they investigate they not only look into the dead man's relationships but her's and her sister's come under the microscope as well. Will they find the killer.
I had been looking forward to another visit to Mystic Springs and it could not have come soon enough! Sage's girls are coming to visit - Connie wrote to tell them that this is the one place that they will be able to see their dead mother again, although she is a ghost now - and they are flying over from England, very sceptical and very hopeful, that Connie is not lying. And to be in Mystic Springs on Halloween, where Lavinia Blackbottom had planned an extravaganza, with costumes, spooks, a live creepy band, haunted houses, a dead body, a witch's curse, skeleton cut-outs, pumpkins and decorations in windows.... wait, a dead body? Yup you get it right, a dead body and a witch's curse.
Sheriff Morton stops everyone leaving Mystic Springs to make sure that the killer does not escape, but does that mean that Sage's girls are stuck in Mystic Springs? I loved this new mystery from Mona Marple, the whole series is great but this one really pulled at the heart strings when Sage and her girls are re-united. And Connie's life is looking more interesting as well! I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
While reading this, it just seemed too much like the last one. I actually ended up looking at the last one to make sure that I hadn't already read this one. If I have to be 100% honest, I think the uniqueness of the first book's main character was lost once they made the entire town able to do what she could. It took away what made the main character special. To try to make up for that, it was an "oh, look, there are witches too" plot line added in the last book. I'm waiting for them to throw in a vampire or perhaps a werewolf now to make the story fresh. If it's going to keep up with ghosts helping people solve crimes, it's just not worth reading. Even the humor that made the first book a really good one has become stale.
I already bought the fourth one based on the first one as I tend to buy the remaining books in the series that are out once I enjoy the first book. Wish I hadn't with this series as I'm not sure I'll bother to read the next one. Definitely won't be buying books 5 and 6.
Mystic Springs is a fascinating place.inhabited by spirits, humans, witches and a medium or two the groups have managed to coexist peacefully. The Baker, House, inhabited by spirits since its humans passed away,is threatened by creepy developer Bruce Skipton who wants to turn the house into a 24/hour supermarket. On the night of a surprise concert right before Halloween one of 5he witches places a curse on the house to any who enter it. Imagine the towns surprise when Bruce is discovered dead. With so many enemies in town, who would benefit the most from his death. Suspects are interviewed and then discarded as potential killers. The murder is solved in a most unorthodox way but what can one expect from a town like Mystic Springs? Mona’s books are fun, entertaining and very, very enjoyable.
Intriguing Town of Ghosts and the Living solving murder mysteries together
I'm beginning to like the characters in this series a bit more than I have up until now. I'm still not too fond of Connie, because she occasionally pulls a YA move (like confronting a murderer with only her ghost sister for backup). The supporting characters (living and dead) are generally more appealing than the main characters.
The POVs alternate with every chapter. Usually this would bother me, but in this series, it actually works reasonably well. If you like some paranormal with your light mysteries, you may enjoy this series.
Another fantastic keep me guessing, cosy mystery by Mona Marple. With Waterfall Tweed meeting Mystic Falls, this mystery has it all witches, curses, murder and the reuniting of family. Great to have the cross over of Characters such as Sandy and Coral in the mix. Connie, and the spirits of Mystic Springs will go without coffee and investigate who killed and why, there's plenty of suspects, with it being Halloween and curses being placed. Curl up and read another wonderful cosy mystery that will keep you guessing.
A Hallowe’en themed paranormal cozy. If you like the Waterfell Tweed Series: there is a super pleasant surprise for you in this book!
Someone has put a curse on Baker House. Where the spooks have found a home. And when a man actually turns up dead, it’s clear to everyone that the curse is working.
It was ah.ma.zing! Entertaining all the way, fun, surprising, some magic and a whole lot of spookiness! Loved it!
As a mother, myself, this one pulled at my heart strings. Any mother who has ever been separated from her children for any length of time knows how painful it is to be away from their babies...no matter what age they are. Sage gets the gift of an afterlife time! And watching Connie transform into who she was always capable of being all along...icing on the cake! The series just keeps getting better and better!
I really enjoy the unique interplay between the main character and her ghost sister. In all of the first three books of the series, I would give five stars were it not for the grammatical errors that I am certain are not due to cultural differences. Punctuation and capitalization errors, particularly involving dialogue, and verb tense/subject issues abound. It says something about the quality of the story that I didn't toss this into the DNF pile.
This one pulls the heart strings as Sage's daughters come to visit Mystic Springs and help solve another death. It's wonderful to see Sage be pulled out of the one-dimensional, man crazy character she's previously been written as and finally see her as a loving mother and a bit self conscious. There's so much personal growth in this book for both Sage and Connie. The ending is really anticlimactic though.
I enjoyed this book. I liked how Sage's daughters came to visit from Waterfell Tweed and how they were incorporated into the story. It is an interesting mystery that kept you guessing to who the murderer was right until the last few pages. I can't wait to see what is in store for the characters in the next book.
Book was enjoyable, and kept you reading with surprises along the way, the only thing I found quite annoying was the constant "erm" that was found in the reading, if one is at a loss for words, I get it, but I feel it was just a bit overused. Finding out about Violet and who ended up being the killer were both surprises, never expected it! I love Mona !
I love this series. Connie and Sage are back. Sage’s daughters come to visit their mother Sage. Coral - one of Sage’s daughters finds the dead body of Bruce Skipton and becomes the number one suspect. Vera and the Vamps show up in town much to Violet Warren’s dismay. She is called upon to help solve Bruce Skipton’s murder.
When a visiting rock star puts a curse on the Baker house it is not much of a shock when the property developer who wants to demolish it dies soon afterwards. A fun well written Halloween cozy mystery with great characters, entertaining story with plenty of suspects. I am enjoying this series. Highly recommended.
I really did like these folks from Mystic Springs. It was a good, captivating plot and was easy to keep engrossed in it. I will be buying the next just to find out what happens next, with Connie and Sage, as well as the girls.
Book 3 of the Mystic Springs series. It is time for Halloween and the big celebrations, when a performer at the concert puts a curse on the home of local Spirits. When stranger comes to town and want to tear it down, he is found dead outside it. Did a curse kill him? It was a unique concept of ghosts working with the living to solve a murder! The characters are quirky, serious and fun all at once. I recommend reading the series in order.
Who killed the sleazy realtor? Can Connie and Sage help solve the case? Step into Mystic Springs where ghosts can be seen and witches can help solve crimes too. A great mystery solved by the group from Mystic Springs.
This series is really good. I enjoy the characters and the setting. You won't know who is the killer until the end. I can't wait to read the next book.
Interesting plot. More interesting way of ending the story. I like how the characters evolve and how some second leads are also given their time to shine. Can't wait to read the next book.
