Malorie Cooper likes to think of herself as a dreamer and a wanderer, yet her feet are firmly grounded in reality.
A ‘maker’ from an early age, Malorie loves to craft things, from furniture, to cosplay costumes, to a well-spun tale, she can’t help but to create new things every day.
A rare extrovert writer, she loves to hang out with readers and people in general. If you meet her at a convention, she just might be rocking a catsuit, cosplaying one of her own characters, or maybe her latest favorite from Overwatch!
She shares her home with a brilliant young girl, her wonderful wife (who also writes), a cat that chirps at birds, a never-ending list of things she would like to build, and ideas…
Fantastic story yet again, as the team prepare to deal with Airtha, as well as continue trying to deal with the myriad of other issues that have arisen along the way. We get to see a lot more of the characters we have grown to love together in this book, and it is great to see their various interactions and character arcs come together. Tanis and Sera in good form as always, and we get to see more of Bob in this one, which is always good. Also good mix of suspense, action and some good hard science :) All round, a great book.
Author M.D. Cooper brings us the latest novel in the Orion War series. As this book opens Tangel is still recovering from her last battle with an ascended AI. While Roxy, the AI woman from the splinter group that had been lead by the former director of the Hand (Transcend black ops) had been put under probation. The AI that helped free the both of them was implanted into the mind of the woman that had abused them as punishment. But as things take off the group to take on Arttha come together and formulate a plan to end the ascended AI. Sara and her clone sisters are up for it but as the battle takes shape the white version of Sara and the latest clone puts a kink in their plans. Through as this is going on the ships Sabrina, and Voyager are watching over everything keeping the teams in check. While this is going on Tangel and Joe's daughters along with one of Bob's human interfaces tackle the problem of the Windows (Orion's black ops) and Tangel's partially ascended daughter Cary takes on the mantel of A1 (the lead window) and takes their ship to stop Garza. This is a great book and I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series. I highly recommend this series to all science fiction fans.
Great story in the continuation of the Orion War. Where the previous books felt like moving the small pieces on the chessboard, Airthan Ascendancy is where the real moves and strategy start to happen. We’ve grown beyond focusing on just the small battles and hoping to eventually build strength to actually making major moves and disrupting the board entirely. While readers of the Orion War series know what the overall goal is, Airthan Ascendancy feels like the first book to make major steps to have it happen. Like all good intentions, things never go completely according to plan and more than one unexpected player enters the field. However, that just makes for great plot twists and excellent action. Definitely not a book to miss. Carve yourself plenty of time because Airthan Ascendancy was difficult to put down!
Starts to get a little more funky in that I feel like I need to read all the spin off books to know what is happening with ALL the charecters (and how that moves along our major plots). We see Helen again (very end) but does that mean Airtha is gone? Cary gets on my nerves. Still love Bob. Not sure how much the major plot really moved along, but I can say I feel scattered going into this next book. Wonderful story. I love the characters and the Universe(s). Stars... I don't know if I can read all the spin offs right now though. I am really just focusing on ending the Orion War and seeing what will happen with the New Caanen Colonists.

This is definitely not a stand alone novel. There are so many characters and so many different strategies and activities happening at the same time throughout this book that it is hard to keep up — even for someone who has followed the series from the beginning.
The writing is superb, the hard science well researched, and the dialogue crisp. A must for Aeon 14 fans!
I honestly don't know how he keeps the tales weaving throughout each other so well. Flowing from character to event and back around, the pacing is spot on and delivers a finely crafted tale.
This is a universe that is interesting enough, that even though it has crazy stuff happen, I would really like to live there. Really enjoyed all the books that I have read so far in it, and look forward to the others.
No minus the ending, solely because I want to know what happens, it was awesome. Leaves you wanting more. I will not ruin the book. It is just a must read.
