Ten years after graduating Colin Crumblethorpe, a nerdy single accountant, persuades his three friends from the university Walking Society to walk the Pennine Way with him. As they set off to tackle two hundred and fifty miles of some of the toughest terrain England has to offer, each of them has a very different motive for doing the walk. Unbeknown to them, the three wives decide to have their own adventure and when events conspire to bring some of them together, things get complicated. But in the middle of multiple disasters Colin finds something he wasn’t expecting. This romantic comedy is about one man’s pursuit of his lifelong dream to walk the Pennine Way and how it has life changing consequences for him and those around him.
Very good in parts and funny. The introductory chapters were a bit slow but the story certainly gathered pace once the walk started. At times it was very funny, and also beautifully written. I had difficulty with the misogyny but I suppose that was the characters. There is a good plot and it could be an excellent TV film.
