Rachel Harkett’s temp job gets a lot more interesting when Drace, an injured, gorgeous hunk of an alien, staggers into her office after hours. He’s tall, ripped, has color-changing tattoos, and says he’s being hunted by a shadowy government agency. Rachel can deal with the fact that Drace is an alien warrior, but she can’t accept his claims that the intense attraction blazing between them is because she is his true, biological mate. When agents close in, the two go on the run to find Drace’s shuttle so he can return home. They may heat up the sheets just fine, but Rachel doesn’t count on Drace abducting her back to his base ship.
Drace Dal-Allean, Saar-king of the Baylan people, is used to getting what he wants. Rachel became his woman the moment she touched him, as evidenced by the new soul marks on his chest denoting the touch of his mate. But while Rachel shares his attraction, she’s resistant to starting a life as his queen on the base ship he rules. Drace will do whatever it takes to protect his new human mate, but when saving her life means taking her with him to his space ship, how can he convince the feisty and spirited Rachel that a life with him isn’t one of abduction and imprisonment?
The sudden appearance of an alien Baylan base ship within view of Earth throws the planet into turmoil, forcing Rachel to decide between the world she was born to, and the sexy alien king who has claimed her heart.
THE BAYLAN CHRONICLES: DRACE is the first book in a romance series about hot alien alpha males finding their mates with human Earth women. This is a stand-alone story with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA (happily ever after). More installments in this series are on the way!
SFR is one of my top two favorite genres. But I get so frustrated when some of these human heroine’s are TSTL. Why is this such a popular trend in SFR? The H / Drace, was great in this book. He seemed likable and attractive. He was kind the the h and accepted the bond. The h on the other hand whined the whole time internally to herself and at many times to him. She kept rambling about not wanting to leave earth and her life beyond. Uh what life? She had no degree, a receptionist job, living in the middle of bum F New England somewhere, no money, no friends apparently, a string of bad relationships in her past and the only good thing was a grandmother way over in Nebraska. So why was it she was so against leaving earth? She kept saying she wouldn’t leave and let a guy make decisions for her again. All because she was afraid of him leaving her again. Well, hey moron ask him some questions! Like ooh gee I dunno, you developed new marks when I touched you so what does that mean? Would you and could you ever willingly leave her then? Oh and just tell him you have a grandmother you need to make sure is okay and if she wants to come too. He would have scooped her up for you. The book was basically her being whiny, not asking questions and fighting him about the bond and being with him even though she could feel it. She had NOTHING but her grandmother worth it on earth. And she knew earth authorities were after her and wanted to experiment on her too. They had even told her that! So hey, idiot, WHY are you trying to stay on earth? Is she really that stupid? Like told her in person they’d be experimenting on her, and STILL that idiot thought she had rights and wanted to go to her grandmothers. Then a US solider SHOT her! She was breaking Drace’s heart left and right. He deserved better than her. Someone who was strong and not afraid of their shadow, but who would walk right into danger from stupidity. Hey people, if you find yourself abducted and/or rescued by some gorgeous, large, and fierce alien offering you a better life than the crappy reality that is earth, TAKE IT! My gosh especially if they mate bond! Cause human men aren’t that good! Oh, and send one of those hot aliens back for me. I’d do the same for you! I’ll try book two at least next in hopes the next human heroine won’t be a Moron.
Yeah, that's actually how it's described and I just... couldn't. The rest of the book? I didn't hate the writing (aside from this weird choice, it was actually good), the plot was interesting (nothing groundbreaking but I'm not usually looking for that, just some fluff that is different from the last book I read in some way) but... flossing her pussy is um... no?
Wonderfully fantastic... The book was amazing... It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it... The characters and their personalities match them perfectly... The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing...

For a short book, ended at 94%. Great start, interesting world building. Developed characters. Fell apart at the end. She spends 3 months in what’s essentially a coma? Meh. Cute but also why are all these alien mates exactly 24? For all the running around she did with all the bad choices in men, you’d expect her to be nearing 30.
I enjoyed the start of this story, enjoyed where the characters took me, but I found the ending very unsatisfying, abit more depth to it would have really helped. I will read the next book in the series, and see if the answers lie in it.
The Baylan Chronicles is an alien romance series written in third person by Ella Blake. If I remember correctly, all of Ella’s other alien romance novels are written in the first person format, which I prefer. Novels written in third person often feel too far removed from the characters. However, Ella has managed to pull it off without leaving the readers becoming too distant from the story. This series takes place in present day, with Earth still believing that we are alone in the universe.
The book Drace follows an alien named Drace who’s a King of the Baylan species. The Baylans live on giant spaceships opposed to their home planet for safety and security. Drace left his mother ship and came to Earth to do recon; studying Earth’s culture to determine the best strategy of making contact in order to negotiate a trade agreement for our resources. He was captured and experimented on for months by an agency referred to as “Department 6.” He escaped imprisonment and was found by the human Rachel Harkett, who was working late one night and opened her door to help an injured man. After unintentionally placing Rachel in danger and drawing attention to her, Drace chose to help her survive by bringing her back to his mother ship. A mate bond gets established by the markings on his body, and they fall in love with each other along the way of physically being unable to keep their hands off each other.
Overall, it’s the exact same story that I have read 100 times. Same book, different cover. Boy meets girl, girl gets in trouble, boy saves girl, boy and girl fall in love and live happily ever after while one of them fight their feelings along the way. Rachel’s character annoyed the shit out of me throughout the entire book. She was too weak and doubted too much. There were WAY too many “I can’t”s coming from her. I can’t love him, he’s an alien! I can’t be a queen, I’m not a leader! I can’t leave Earth, I’m a weak-ass nobody! Mmmkay. Then just lay down and die then, b*tch. Drace will literally be the only one who will care when you’re gone. Ugh. Drama mama with that one. Anyway, I digress.
While I do enjoy how this series is written (so far), I think Ella Blake’s Lords of Destra series has been the best of her craft. This particular book wasn’t my favorite, but I have high hopes for redemption. I mean… they can’t be any worse… right? (God, I hope I didn’t just jinx it!) Here’s to seeing what the next book in this series has in store…
—>>> Rachel Harkett has no idea that the strangely marked man who stumbles into the urgent care center where she worked was an injured alien who was going to claim her as his mate. Rachel’s whole life changes from the very moment she touches him, and she soon finds herself running for her life with Drace, king of the Baylan people and the base ship under his command. Trusting, though, in this male is hard to do with her past relationship history, but soon, Rachel will realize that she may not have much of a choice but to stay with him. Engaging sci-fi romance from a new-to-me author!
Book one of the Baylan chronicles introduces us to Drace, an alien king of a nomadic space race of beings. Captured by a group of human scientists, Drace escapes and is aided by Rachel, a human receptionist who is working late when she finds him. Staying ahead of his capturers, Rachel and Drace have a tough time- between his wounds and their very inconvenient intense attraction…
This is a short sci-fi romance tale of fated mates, and what might happen if and when an alien race makes first contact. It’s a quick read, with a steamy romance and plenty of action despite its brevity. An enjoyable and entertaining read for sci-fi romance lovers.
A new Author to both me and it looks like to putting out books, a well written story and I know I want to read the next book. This is the first book of the Baylan Chronicles series. Drace Dal-Allean, Saar-king of the Baylan people has come to where Rachel Harkett is working he has metal in his stomach he is trying to escape from a group of humans calling themselves “Dept. 6” . This story has suspense, drama, danger, kidnapping, shooting, and mates. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A relatively good read. He is an alien being hunted down by a shadowy government agency. He has been wounded and ended up at a medical centre were a lone temp employee was doing her usual night work, data entry. She helps him and together they need to outrun and out smart the government agency. She had to touch him in order to help with his wounds and in doing so ignited his soul mate bond. Unbeknown to her she is his soul mate. When agents close in, the two go on the run to find his shuttle so he can return to the mother ship.
A great book with lots of emotion and credibility. by sewsummore
I really enjoyed this book, the story line was well thought out and believable, the characters were described with great depth. I enjoy science fiction romances that have credibility and merge human and alien emotions and this book ticked all the boxes. I look forward to reading other books in this series.

There is no excuse for what Drace went through, but the way he meets Rachel is kind of awesome. Their journey and adventures tie so well to what people really think of aliens that the whole story is very believable. I loved how the Raplan -B is described and how they live so long and pretty much the whole story. Harc definitely seems like a handful and I can't wait to read more about him. This is a great series from a wonderful author.
Drace and Rachel's relationship isn't an easy one due to Rachel's self doubt . The relationship is resolved at the end of the book and then the book ends . The abrupt ending and unresolved issues with agency 6 is why I knocked off one star. I enjoyed the book and will continue reading the series.
This is a wonderful story, an action filled, dramatic love story. Exactly what I love to read! Drace is the perfect alien warrior hero, so protective of his true mate. As it should be. And my favorite part is the happy ever after that always makes me feel great!

The premise was good. The way they met was within my ability to suspend my disbelief. It gets two stars though because the sex was so boring - just kissing and thrusting. And nobody could come up with an alternate word for "mate" when the FMC made it clear that she did not like that word. Use a fucking thesaurus people.
I love this book it was flippin amazing. Thw flow is perfect eve though the female made me want to kill her myself. Alien okay to fuk bit not stay with. Other then that its an awesome book
Drace was a great H, sweet, romantic and overall a good guy. Rachel was a drag really, she was constantly whining and making poor decisions. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Rachel and Drace’s story. It was fun and exciting. The characters were interesting and quirky. She had a ways to go before she accepted being his fated mate. I really didn’t want to quit reading.

Love the characters in this book. Although Earth has never seen aliens, this one special woman is able to save the king from a rouge division of government intent on torturing the one who could bring the two species together.
What a way to meet your mate! Not the way that is romantic that's for sure. Earth needs a better way to meet new people too! Drace and Rachel have their work cut out for them. Enjoy
Drace and Rachel meet at a medical clinic where she helps bandage his stomach wound and she accidentally touches his ability to find his fated mate. Drace and Rachel must go run!
While trying to escape federal agent Drace comes across a human working in a clinic. She tries to care for him, only for some strange things to happen to his body. Turns out he isn't human and Rachel has gotten herself into some trouble. Now they are on the run and he can't get enough of her.
This story is filled with humor, action, suspense, steamy sex and a lot of love. Couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series:)
