I am sorry for the fan of miss McGuire. She is,based on Goodreads, talented writer. Especially with her work on Beautiful series. When i picked up the audibook for The Edge of Us, I have so much hope.
What does not work for me is Naomi. She is suppose to be this strong military heroine. I got that when Naomi character being introduce in the beginning of the book. When the story progresses, somehow she becomes rude, a**hole character. Look i get where she is coming from. Being strong and patriotic does not mean have to be rude to everyone. Everyone who is actually trying to help her.
Thats where I draw the line. The story becomes not interested anymore due to her. I stop reading around 15% of the book.

I fell in love with Beautiful Disaster when it first came out, and since then I’ve religiously followed all of her series. The first of this particular series was awful at best, and I was really hoping Maguire would redeem herself with the second installment. I was hugely disappointed.
The characters were unbelievable and underdeveloped, the premise downright ridiculous. Maguire takes every chance to toot her own horn, plugging her own Providence series within the pages of this book. And, of course, she throws the Maddoxes in every chance she gets, because nothing has ever topped that series.
The book is peppered with grammatical and spelling errors, which is unacceptable and embarrassing for Maguire. It’s quite clear that she’s been focusing on other ventures and has pushed her writing career to the side, since the quality of her work has suffered severely.

In realtà 3 stelle e 1/2
E' d'obbligo una premessa, ho un rapporto controverso con la McGuire, a volte la odio e a volte la amo. Questa volta sono combattuta e cercherò di spiegarvene i motivi.
Chi ha letto il libro precedente, ricorderà le vicende di Trex e Darby ma se non le dovesse ricordare, non deve preoccuparsi, e tra poco capirà il perchè. Nel primo volume avevamo vissuto una storia interessante e sentita con dei personaggi simpatici e coinvolgenti. Avevamo in quell'occasione incontrato quelli che saranno i protagonisti di questo nuovo romanzo, Naomi "Nomes" e Zeke.
Naomi è un marine nonché la vedova di Marine. Dopo la morte di suo marito, si è unita alla sua vecchia unità guidata da Trex e li ha seguiti in tutte le loro missioni. Quello attuale è un incarico di massima sicurezza a Colorado Springs. L'amore per il suo defunto marito Matt ancora non è sbiadito, lei continua a sentirsi sposata e non è interessata a ritrovare l'amore, il suo cuore è stato seppellito insieme a suo marito Matt. Ma, non ha fatto i conti con ciò che il destino ha riservato per lei. Cioè Zeke. Un sexy pompiere della forestale. Il loro incontro è inaspettato e l'attrazione innegabile, senza neanche accorgersene si trovano a frequentarsi e a condividere i loro problemi e pian piano ad innamorarsi. Quando tutto sembra finalmente andare al suo posto e i due cominciano ad accettare e a vivere tranquillamente la loro storia, Zeke scopre di avere una grave patologia, questo manda all'aria tutti i suoi piani e lo fa andare in pezzi. Non merita Naomi e vuole lasciarla prima che sia lei ad allontanarsi da lui.
Ad aggravare la situazione già abbastanza complessa c'è una persona del passato di Naomi che cerca in tutti i modi di separarli. Riusciranno Zeke e Naomi a stare insieme malgrado tutte le difficoltà?
La McGuire crea dei personaggi interessanti, fuori dal comune e dagli stereotipi ai quali siamo abituati.
Naomi è una ragazza supercazzuta nata e vissuta in ambiente militare, il padre era a capo delle milizie dell'Arizona. Non ha bisogno di un uomo che la protegga, anzi in genere è lei a proteggere gli altri. Non poteva non piacermi questo personaggio, l'ho adorato fin da subito. La sua storia da sola è molto coinvolgente: la sua infanzia, il suo lutto, il suo vissuto è interessante.
Zeke ha avuto una vita difficile è cresciuto in affido e ora la sua famiglia sono i ragazzi con i quali lavora e per i quali darebbe la vita. E' un bravissimo ragazzo, ma quel che ha passato durante l'infanzia prima di trovare la madre affidataria giusta lo ha profondamente segnato. E' attratto da Naomi sin dal primo incontro, ma il suo cruccio maggiore è di pensare di non essere abbastanza per lei. Malgrado ciò c'è qualcosa in quella donna forte che non gli permette di allontanarsi da lei.
In realtà la storia di Zeke e Naomi è molto bella, originale e ben scritta, ma - sì purtroppo c'è un ma - la McGuire riutilizza per l'ennesima volta quasi il medesimo lasso di tempo, gli avvenimenti sono gli stessi solo visti dal punto di vista di Zeke e Naomi anzichè da quello di Trex e Darby. Ma perchè?!?... Perchè....
Gran parte del libro quindi non è altro che una rivisitazione del primo attraverso la prospettiva di Naomi anziché quella di Trex... Ma si può?!?... Ma che noia.
Seriamente, a un certo punto ho avuto l'impressione di esser incastrata in un limbo spazio-temporale che mi costringeva a rivivere sempre gli stessi avvenimenti.
Poi, finalmente usciamo dal solito maledetto intervallo di tempo e tutto è diverso, divori il libro e finalmente i nuovi avvenimenti. Certo, sicuramente alcuni degli eventi che vivremo possono risultare un po' improbabili, ma d'altronde vediamo dei film che narrano vicende ancora più incredibili.
Un'altra cosa che mi chiedo è se la McGuire ci svelerà mai cosa succede esattamente all'interno dell'area Deep Echo? Continua a essere troppo vaga, io propendo più per l'idea che neanche lo abbia deciso... Per ora sappiamo solo che all'interno accadono cose terribili... Diciamo che nel mio immaginario potrebbe essere un'area 51 delle Cheyenne Mountain, ma sta a lei stupirci con effetti speciali.

I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of this book. I was sucked in, I really was. Then it just got ridiculous and my eyes hurt from all the rolling they did. Super secret medical testing. Military breakouts. It was just crap. Then the bonus chapter i could barely get through bc the amount of things that were just wrong in the facts of the whole series. Starting with Darby showing she was pregnant and announcing it was actually Trex's this time unlike last time when it was someone elses child. Even though a huge thing in book 1 was telling NOBODY that Maddie wasn't his, including Maddie. So many things just fell to shit.

Torna la McGuire che tutte noi conosciamo per la serie Lo Splendido Disastro. La nuova serie “Crash and Burn”, iniziata con Sei il mio danno, prosegue qui con Sei il mio inganno. E gli ingannati in realtà sono molti…
La protagonista, Naomi, è una combattente, una donna abituata a prendere la vita per le corna e domarla. Cresciuta in ambiente militare e prevalentemente maschile, sa come difendersi e farsi valere.
Ma la perdita del vero amore la fa vacillare notevolmente e forse la getterebbe del tutto a terra se non potesse contare su amici carissimi che compongono il resto della sua squadra. Insieme a loro accetta un nuovo incarico come responsabile della sicurezza e si trasferisce in Colorado dove le capita… Zeke. E molto altro: inganni, segreti, scoperte, intrighi.
Zeke lavora come pompiere nella stessa squadra dei gemelli Maddox ( gli stessi protagonisti della vecchia serie) ed è una vera forza della natura, travestito da sorriso dolce e modi gentili. L’attrazione tra i due è inaspettata e grandissima, impossibile ignorarla.
Arrivati a questo punto si capisce benissimo come prosegue la storia, anche se la seconda metà del libro ha numerosi colpi di scena che movimentano il tutto. Forse non sono troppo verosimili, ve lo concedo, ma se amiamo certe esagerazioni al cinema, possiamo benissimo tollerarle anche in un romance, giusto?
Buon divertimento a Colorado Springs, dove vive una squadra di focosi e machissimi vigili del fuoco…

Non sapevo che cosa rivelasse di me e della mia personalità, ma se assestare un bel pugno di quando in quando riusciva a far sparire il dolore, pazienza. Io scelgo la violenza.”

This takes place before from here to you following the secondary characters. So although i washoping for more of Trex and Darby we still do get to see them while exploring new relationships.
Naomi is stone hard and doesnt need anyone but she finds herself drawn to Zeke.
Zeke and Naomi work together and that bond makes it hard for them to admit feelings and deal with where to go from there.
We get to see behind the curtain of Trex and Darbys relationship and Trex and Naomis friendship and it was really good. Slow start but once i got into it it picked up and i felt connected with our new characters.
This takes place before from here to you following the secondary characters. So although i washoping for more of Trex and Darby we still do get to see them while exploring new relationships.

Jamie McGuire torna con il secondo volume della serie Crash and Burn, il nuovo romantic suspense che vedrà due protagonisti alle prese con un mistero pericoloso. Conosciamo Naomi, una protagonista forte, determinata e indipendente, una vera donna in cui rispecchiarsi, una che non molla mai, che combatte, che cerca di superare gli ostacoli e che riesce sempre a cavarsela con le sue forze. Non cerca un altro uomo in questa fase della sua vita, dal momento che ha un lavoro che la tiene impegnata e non è una damigella in pericolo, anche se in passato ha sofferto e non riesce a dimenticare ciò che le è accaduto. Nel libro è il personaggio che compie un cambiamento maggiore. Ma poi arriva Zeke, - personaggio incontrato nel precedente libro Un disastro perfetto - un affascinante vigile del fuoco che lavora nella cittadina di Colorado Springs e che riuscirà ad entrare nel cuore di Naomi. Zeke è un personaggio forte e onesto che intuisce il passato doloroso di Naomi, le dà tempo di aprirsi, di rivelare se stessa: non entra prepotentemente nella sua vita ma attende che tutto si svolga lentamente, un passo dietro l’altro. Ho amato il modo in cui Zeke è in grado di abbattere il muro di dolore e come la aiuta ad andare avanti, la sua dedizione per il suo lavoro ma soprattutto il suo lato insicuro che lo rende più reale possibile. Zeke e Naomi sono una combinazione perfetta insieme, non possono fare a meno dell’altro perché sono attratti. Ma c’è una persona del passato di Naomi che cerca di separarli e insieme devono capire se il loro sentimento vale la pena. L’autrice sa come raccontare una storia intrecciando il passato dei personaggi e quelli dei personaggi secondari. Incontriamo nuovamente i fratelli Maddox, come anche Darby e Trex, personaggi del libro precedente Sei il mio danno.

Conosciamo Naomi, una protagonista forte, determinata e indipendente, una vera donna in cui rispecchiarsi, una che non molla mai, che combatte, che cerca di superare gli ostacoli e che riesce sempre a cavarsela con le sue forze. Non cerca un altro uomo in questa fase della sua vita, dal momento che ha un lavoro che la tiene impegnata e non è una damigella in pericolo, anche se in passato ha sofferto e non riesce a dimenticare ciò che le è accaduto. Nel libro è il personaggio che compie un cambiamento maggiore. Ma poi arriva Zeke, - personaggio incontrato nel precedente libro Un disastro perfetto - un affascinante vigile del fuoco che lavora nella cittadina di Colorado Springs e che riuscirà ad entrare nel cuore di Naomi. Zeke è un personaggio forte e onesto che intuisce il passato doloroso di Naomi, le dà tempo di aprirsi, di rivelare se stessa: non entra prepotentemente nella sua vita ma attende che tutto si svolga lentamente, un passo dietro l’altro. Ho amato il modo in cui Zeke è in grado di abbattere il muro di dolore e come la aiuta ad andare avanti, la sua dedizione per il suo lavoro ma soprattutto il suo lato insicuro che lo rende più reale possibile. Zeke e Naomi sono una combinazione perfetta insieme, non possono fare a meno dell’altro perché sono attratti. Ma c’è una persona del passato di Naomi che cerca di separarli e insieme devono capire se il loro sentimento vale la pena. L’autrice sa come raccontare una storia intrecciando il passato dei personaggi e quelli dei personaggi secondari. Incontriamo nuovamente i fratelli Maddox, come anche Darby e Trex, personaggi del libro precedente Sei il mio danno.

DNF at 67% with some skimming until the end.
I get that this book is well reviewed and most may assume I read it wrong. That's fine. That I managed to get to the 50% point is the only reason I'm reviewing this at all. Generally, if I don't make it that far I simply put it aside without counting it. But I feel like I deserve some credit for putting up with it until then. I had 2 huge issues from the beginning. 1. The misuse of military terminology, specifically Marine terminology. In my reading experience, many authors get military terminology wrong which is frustrating since a simple google search can solve the issue. 2. Unrealistic/unresolved timeline issues. I kept trying to make the timeline work with the ages and years given (i.e. Naomi's age when meeting her husband, his death, time in the Marines, and now security job don't add up with realistic timelines). It isn't realistically possible.
If those had been the only 2 issues, I could have given the book a squinting side eye and continued reading. Instead, on top of these two research and editing issues, I'm expected to put up with some crazy sauce on top of crazy sauce situations that I just couldn't do anymore. It's a shame since there were some good parts. The dialog is well done for the most part. I liked the interaction between Naomi and her cousins. I just couldn't suspend enough belief to take in all this book tried to give me.

La McGuire torna in Italia col suo nuovo romanzo della serie Crash and Burn: Sei il mio inganno.
Il romanzo racconta la storia di Naomi e Zeke, già incontrati nel volume precedente.
Lei è un ex marines, figlia di militari e cresciuta come tale; è vedova da qualche anno, quando viene assunta per un nuovo lavoro a Colorado Springs, come membro della sicurezza in una struttura governativa.
Lui è uno degli Alpines (i vigili del fuoco che si occupano di incendi forestali) e le ammiratrici dei gemelli Maddox lo avranno già conosciuto; collega di Taylor e Tyler, è da poco uscito da una relazione lunga, che l’ha lasciato ferito.
I due si conoscono in un bar, dove lui cerca di difendere l’onore della donna… per ritrovarsi poi salvato dalla stessa!!! Insomma, non è uno dei classici inizi, come non vuole esserlo questo romanzo, in cui la McGuire racconta di due personaggi un po’ diversi dal suo solito.
Naomi, come dicevo, è un soldato: donna forte e fortemente indipendente, è abituata a cavarsela sempre con le proprie forze. Zeke, che cerca di fare il classico cavalier servente, deve però farsi da parte, perché la donna si dimostra molto più capace di lui nel badare a se stessa. Insomma, inoltrandosi nella lettura, sembra quasi che i ruoli siano invertiti: lei la cazzuta consapevole delle proprie capacità, lui insicuro e terrorizzato, a tratti sembra mancare completamente di autostima. Ammetto di non aver apprezzato molto questa inversione di ruoli, ma non perché non mi sia piaciuta l’idea, anzi. Purtroppo, però, pare che in questo caso l’autrice non sia stata molto “capace”: alcuni dialoghi risultano privi denso e ripetitivi, così come i comportamenti dei protagonisti.
Invece, ho AMATO alcune piccole chicche. Innanzitutto, la presenza dei vari personaggi precedentemente incontrati nei romanzi della McGuire, come in ogni suo libro, alla fine. Ma la ciliegina sulla torta, quella che mi ha fatto letteralmente saltare dalla sedia e fare diecimila gridolini, è l’apparizione, fin troppo breve per me, di nientepopodimeno che… [rullo di tamburi] Travis “Mad Dog” Maddox!!! Sì, sono follemente innamorata di lui e, ogni volta che ritorna, vado in estasi. Insomma, solo con la sua comparsa, Travis mi ha fatto completamente rivalutare il romanzo!!!
Scritto in modo impeccabile, come sempre (seppur con qualche piccolissimo errore di editing), la lettura è scorrevole e l’autrice ti coinvolge appieno in ogni momento; ammetto di aver anche pianto come una fontana in alcuni punti e riso come una matta in altri.
Nonostante mi sia piaciuto di meno rispetto agli altri romanzi dell’autrice, consiglio vivamente questo libro!

I love McGuire's books. I've read a lot of her books and she is a great author. This one felt a little off, almost like some editing glitches happened. There were small moments that I didn't feel like lined up like they should and I needed more about the militia because it felt glossed over. But overall I enjoyed it and I look forward to seeing where this series is going.

OMG! THIS BOOK! Zeke is SUCH a sweetheart. And Naomi! Let’s talk about Naomi. She’s been teased as the Female Travis Maddox and she so is but she totally holds her own candle. She is and earns her own bad ass title. And when I say bad ass, I mean BAD ASS. I absolutely love her personality and wit. She made me laugh so much! I kept highlighting so many of her lines. Two thumbs WAY up to Jamie on this one. There’s so much I could say but I don’t want to spoil it. All I will say is Jamie spoils us with all the Easter Eggs. Loved them!! I highly recommend everyone read this book. You’ll enjoy it! Trust me. I already can’t wait until the next one.

Soooo... I was excited for Zeke‘s book since we met him first in Beautiful Burn. And he was everything I wanted him to be.
He is so, so sweet. I adored how he was with Naomi and he is definitely my favorite of the hotshots.
I also liked Naomi even though her badassery was a wee bit too much sometimes but I liked to see how she changed during the book. I loved how Zeke was able to put down the wall of grief and loss she built around her heart and helped her to move on but the thing is, and this is why the book is ‚only‘ a 4 star book to me, I can‘t even say that I was bothered by it THAT much because I freaking loved the first book, there was too much Trex and Naomi. Does that make sense?
Seriously I loved FHTY but I wanted to read more about Zeke and Naomi, instead of all the surroundings with the Complex, Deep Echo and all that jazz. But again, I it makes sense that we got all of it because of the first book and I haven’t seen it coming what happens behind the Deep Echo walls.
The Edge of Us is an amazing book with lot of easter eggs and lots of Taylor and Tyler Maddox and that typical McGuire style I absolutely love in her books. I can not wait to read the next one in the series!
And that ending people. The ending alone is worth reading it. I promise.

Chi non conosce la scrittura di Jamie McGuire? Lei è la mamma dei fratelli Maddox e ha fatto sognare tante di noi per pagine e pagine. Stavolta ha creato qualcosa di insolito e innovativo: questo secondo romanzo della serie Crash & Burn ha per protagonista ...Nikita!
É un romanzo a metà tra il contemporary e il suspense. Lei e lui s’incontrano per caso e nasce un’intesa che entrambi non cercavano ma che sembra cadergli addosso direttamente dal destino. Solitamente sono gli opposti ad attrarsi, mentre qui sembrano essere attirati più dalla loro somiglianza, almeno all’inizio. In realtà poi i due si differenziano moltissimo, stravolgendo almeno un cliché del romance: lei sembra 007 in gonnella, mentre lui... è solo un uomo.
La protagonista è Naomi, che scherzosamente ho definito Nikita perché maneggia armi e muscoli come un tiratore scelto o un assassino prezzolato. Felice di essere donna ma con un dominio di se stessa e dell’ambiente che la circonda da animale selvaggio. Indomabile e sfacciata, è una bella sfida per il vigile del fuoco Zeke...
Il protagonista maschile è appunto Zeke, appartenente alla stessa squadra di pompieri dei gemelli Maddox, li ricordate? Bellissime le scene al pub o sul lavoro in cui gli uomini della squadra interagiscono e ci fanno scorgere il loro affiatamento reciproco. Prendersi in giro e divertirsi va benissimo per tutti, ma se uno di loro è davvero minacciato fanno muro invalicabile. Sembrano quasi i moschettieri di Dumas, sprezzanti del pericolo e leali fini alla morte.

I have had a hate/love/hate-again relationship with the Crash and Burn books. Since I already read and reviewed book one, let's move on to book two.
The Edge of Us follows a young widow named Naomi and her journey to finding love again after the death of her husband. I personally, did not like Namoi through the first half of the book. I get that she was supposed to be this badass military woman, but good grief I couldn't handle all the ab showing and man handling wasn't my thing. Don't get me wrong, I love a strong woman, but it was just a little over board for me.
Now, Zeke was awesome. I loved his personality. I loved his dedication to his job--hello sexy firefighter. I even loved his insecure side. I thought these two were a perfect combo, and you could totally feel the chemistry.
For my the last half of the book is where it's at! Seriously, so good. It was so intense, wondering what the heck was going to happen next, and I loved it.
I will definitely continue reading books in the series. Hoping for that one that makes me swoon like Beautiful Disaster did! <3

When you find an author that you love, you have a tendency to do one of two things when a new book comes out. The first, you jump right in leaving the book you’re currently reading so you can soak up the newest words from someone you love. Then there’s the second, you put it off, because you know it’s going to be amazing and you want to soak it up, and take your time……Well, I waited to The Edge of Us, until my to read list was complete, and I had nothing more to read.
Naomi is a bad mothertrucker! She takes nothing from anybody, and if someone dishes it, she’s right there in their face showing them exactly how you don’t mess with her.
Then there’s Zeke. Oh Zeke is someone you want to be happy. He’s the best of the best, wanting to make everyone’s life better.
As I read TEOU, I was rooting for Zeke and Naomi………..once you start you won’t stop. You’re going to feel this book in your veins as it pumps through your heart.

Seriously, this book revamped me. I gave me life like only a Jamie McGuire book can.
It started off a little slow and it took a little bit for me to start to like Naomi. But then somewhere around 15-20% it all just clicked and took off from there. Eventually I empathized with Naomi and my heart broke for her in that cemetery scene. I was bawling my eyes out.
The thing I love most about Jamie's books is how interconnected they all are. They all seem to happen mostly simultaneously (which has got to be super hard to keep straight as an author so mad props, and also why I vote TV show versus move 😉) and we get glimpses of past characters and situations that we've been a part of. I love seeing it from a different POV.
But my absolute most favorite part of the book? The last line of course!! I swear I was geeking out and couldn't stop smiling! Best. Ending. Ever.

Punteggio reale: 2,5 stelline.
Che dire? Tutto mi aspettavo tranne che rileggere di nuovo il libro precedente, stavolta dal punto di vista di Naomi e Zeke invece che quello di Darby e Trex.
Già, perché la timeline è la stessa e certe scene sono proprio copiate e incollate - senza alcun cambio di parola - da ciò che avevo già letto venti giorni fa.
Sarebbe stato gradito partire da un punto nuovo, un punto che avvenisse dopo la conclusione della storia di Darby e Trex - e invece no. La McGuire negli ultimi libri ci ha preso gusto a sovrapporre le timeline e a raccontare sempre la stessa storia però dal punto di vista di personaggi diversi.
Come se non bastasse, ci sono davvero tanti errori di continuità in questo romanzo - e ora non ricordo più benissimo perché ci ho messo per l'appunto dieci giorni a leggerlo, ma in una scena Naomi sa i nomi dei colleghi di Zeke senza che nessuno li abbia mai presentati, poi li chiama per nome e infine non li sa più, così quando si arriva alle presentazioni ufficiali è come se li sentisse per la prima volta.
Per non parlare di un'altra cosa, di un segreto che doveva restare tale tra Darby e Trex e che improvvisamente sa tutto il mondo.
Essendo Zeke uno dei protagonisti potevano non mancare i gemelli Maddox? Che, chiariamo, non portano a nulla di nuovo e anzi, rivediamo ancora una certa scena per la quarta volta. E a proposito di Maddox... indovinate chi fa un salto in Colorado a fare l'eroe della situazione e l'uomo della fuga? Proprio Travis Maddox. Volevi non infilarcelo da qualche parte e ad un certo punto?
Sono rimasta alquanto delusa da questa storia perché mi aspettavo di più - e mi aspettavo di più anche come sviluppo dei personaggi. Soprattutto mi aspettavo molto di più dal personaggio di Zeke, che nei libri precedenti mi aveva sempre affascinata e intenerita e invece qui non mi ha fatto per niente battere il cuore.
In compenso ho trovato il villain della vita: Peter, il primo amore di Naomi che già compariva nel libro precedente, qui raggiunge un livello tale di bassezza e viscidume che scendere più in basso è davvero impossibile - lui sì che la McGuire è riuscita a descriverlo bene, è forse l'unico personaggio che davvero mi abbia suscitato qualche reazione forte.
E niente, sono finalmente arrivata alla fine della storia dei Maddox e della loro famiglia allargata - perché ormai è quello che sono anche con i personaggi "esterni", un po' alla volemose tutti bene - e pensò che darò una festa per celebrare da questa prigionia.

Volevi non infilarcelo da qualche parte e ad un certo punto?
Sono rimasta alquanto delusa da questa storia perché mi aspettavo di più - e mi aspettavo di più anche come sviluppo dei personaggi. Soprattutto mi aspettavo molto di più dal personaggio di Zeke, che nei libri precedenti mi aveva sempre affascinata e intenerita e invece qui non mi ha fatto per niente battere il cuore.
In compenso ho trovato il villain della vita: Peter, il primo amore di Naomi che già compariva nel libro precedente, qui raggiunge un livello tale di bassezza e viscidume che scendere più in basso è davvero impossibile - lui sì che la McGuire è riuscita a descriverlo bene, è forse l'unico personaggio che davvero mi abbia suscitato qualche reazione forte.
E niente, sono finalmente arrivata alla fine della storia dei Maddox e della loro famiglia allargata - perché ormai è quello che sono anche con i personaggi "esterni", un po' alla volemose tutti bene - e pensò che darò una festa per celebrare da questa prigionia.

In this book you have the roles reversed. Tough woman, soft man. Not my favorite. The story was interesting enough but I didn't care about the main couple much. I don't really believe a tiny girl like Naomi can beat up a guy twice her size no matter how much training she has. It's just not how it works lol Another thing that falls into the realm of almost science fiction is how Zeke got cured of an incurable disease in a top-secret government facility. Very convenient. At least we think he got cured. He didn't even finish the treatments properly before his jailbreak. I think it's safe to assume he did because he was mentioned to be working for the fire department with the rest of the team in A Beautiful Funeral.
I live for Darby and Trex crumbs. This book will give you that if you like that couple. One thing that bothered me though was that one key part of the previous book was retconned. In the From Here to You epilogue, Darby and Trex had decided not to tell little Maddie that Trex wasn't her biological father and they were relieved no one knew she wasn't Trex's bio child (except Darby's doctor and nurse of course.) Now in the extra chapter of The Edge of Us suddenly all the characters know and they are shouting from the rooftops that Darby is pregnant with Trex's first biological child. Anyway...

There was so, so much anticipation for this book and it ended up being more than I could've ever hoped it would be. It's about so much more than Naomi and Zeke and their relationship. As a reader, you get to feel the grief, fear, guilt, and new-love excitement right along with them. You meet some of the funnest supporting characters (hello, Kansas and Spenser!!)that you find yourself hoping and praying get their own stories some day. The creepy mystery surrounding Deep Echo and the Cheyenne Mountain Complex are continued with this book to a whole new degree. I couldn't get enough! Throw in the special appearances from some of our beloved characters and you've got one hell of a book.

This was a great read for me. If I hadn't read the rest of Jamies books I don't know if I would have liked it as much. The cameos from other books had me gasping hah
The book was centered around grief and acceptance. Naomi lost her husband while he was in the marines, so she joined his unit and became a badass. She falls for a forest firefighter and navigates how to love another person. It was funny, touching, action filled, and sweet. I absolutely loved getting to see all the characters, I did already know the timeline because of the other books but it also gave you a different POV on the chapter. Loved.

At first I thought I read this book because it was so close to the first one. It was messing me up. A few times I almost stopped reading because it was so close to the first one (so I thought lol). The more I read the more I like it. There was one particular part that I LOVED the most... when a special old character made a very small appearance... it was all of 2 seconds but I swooned and then this book went from a 3 to a 4 star lol

I adore Jamie's writing. Beautiful Disaster is one of my favorite books of all time. That being said, I felt like this one was kind of rushed. I still enjoyed the writing and I thought the storyline was intriguing. I also felt the characters were a little over the top at times, but I still ended up loving them just as I do with all of Jamie's characters and I still will absolutely be looking for more from this series.

Restarted my book hunger
For a while I had forgotten how enjoying a book felt. This one brought back the fun in reading. She knows how to make my feelings stir just as Hoover does. I dont say this was a perfect read I did wait for the big break up scene as per usual, but cant say I liked that one, felt forced and illogical, but still got me through the book quicker than ever this year. Ahhh now on to another book.

I really enjoy Jamie McGuires books, but I have to say that she’s very formulaic in her plots. It’s like she takes the same basic outline and then throws in a crisis (usually a fire) and then everything is wrapped up neatly in the end. I enjoyed the story but I could have predicted what was going to happen before I even started the book. I’ll keep reading her books, but I wish there would be a little more variety.

One of the first books I had read when I first joined this group was Beautiful Disaster. By Jamie McGuire; I quickly got sucked into the Maddox world and with each new release I get so excited, this book gave me all the feels plus some! Now I just sit on my bit and wait the next release...or read Beautiful Disaster again?!

DNF. I only got about 50 pages in and just couldn’t anymore. I really enjoyed the first book in the series, but this one was terrible. Naomi seemed so likeable in the first book. But in this one she was just a cranky bully. I’m even returning it to Amazon for my money back that’s how terrible it was.
