Rate this book
During tumultuous times in Virginia 1860, shipping mogul Adrian Casimir, who is also known to those on the high seas as pirate Captain Bain Navarre, meets the young, saddened Farrah Devore. Farrah, the daughter of a recently widowed plantation owner, is heartbroken over the loss of her mother and struggling with her looming courtship to a man she does not want, Ethan Abrams. Before long, she finds herself feeling the first stirrings of womanhood for a man she barely knows--the dashing and very sexy Adrian Casimir, who immediately expresses his interest in courting her. However, there are those who will do anything to stand in their way--even those whom she calls family.

During a time in history when the nation is being torn apart by hatred, and brothers fight against brothers, can love conquer all no matter what the odds?

This book, did you see the cover? I love it! I have a similar painting like this is my craft room, without the girl, but its ships with an orange sky. What?! You don’t want to hear about that? Oh. The book. Got it, my bad.

Well, it takes place a long, long time ago in 1860. There’s this guy, whose name is Adrian Casimir. But in all honesty, he is really Captain Bain Navarre, who happens to be a pirate on the high seas. However, he has disguised himself as Adrian and as a shipping mogul.

Now, there’s this lady, her name is Farrah Devore, her father has recently been widowed, and he is a plantation owner. Farrah, is struggling with the loss of her mother, and a courtship to a man she doesn’t even want to be with: Ethan Abrams.

Farrah’s eye’s catch the view of the handsome pirate, and she can’t help but feel her insides stir, as her desires awaken, and needs she never even knew she had come alive.

Adrian has plenty up his sleeve, and everyone knows they are not meant to be, but when a woman has wants and needs, she isn’t about to let anything get in her way. However, even family will stop at nothing to interfere with her new-found desires.

And this is a time where a nation is being ripped apart by hatred, war is the answer for everything, and brothers will fight against brothers, and it doesn’t really matter who is right in the long run. So, let me ask you this, do you honestly think love can survive, and conquer all? And do you think it is meant to be? What will become of the pirate and Farrah if anything?

You must buy this book yourself to find out, I can’t just give you all of the answers! The only thing I will tell you, is this: Alexis Kennedy is a wonderful writer, and she will keep you guessing, and wanting more, as you follow her through her ‘Scandalous’ words. She promises an excellent read, and has done just that with an excellent five-star book, once again!

Mixed-up feelings...

I have to ask what historical year the story revolved in. The language used was somewhat a bit modern at times. You don;t use the word "yeah" in the 1860's. And you don;t insist on your freedom and voicing your own thoughts then, much less be with men without a chaperone especially if you came from an elite family as in the case of the Farrah. Much more you don;t buy dresses that can be worn instantly then - it was usually made to order because it is always custom made to the wearer. These are just some issues that I guess bothered me since it was said to be a historical romance.

Maybe its just me for I see 5-star ratings here, but as I've read a whole lot of historical romance with 1800 time setting - this has to be in the wrong time frame. I'm not usually onto details, but I guess it would be great if the author made a bit more research on it.

A fast paced read at that, adventurous and sensual, I guess the time frame really hit it one, making a much lower rate than the others who read it and rated it at 5-stars. When an author writes historical stories, it is best to research so as not to destroy the cohesion of the plot with the particular social norms at the time.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review... Scandalous was a very interesting and intriguing book... It was an intriguing book because it had a lot of our history and it also from way bac from way back during the Civil War... so the writer had to be very intelligent and interested in these areas of expertise... scandalous turned out to be a enjoyable book... the plot in the book was very spontaneous and dangerous at times... And in some places in the book you had to cry even... All the characters and the novel was wonderful and they was intelligent also... So in conclusion I truly enjoyed the book and I will recommend it to my friends...

This story deals with a time when our country was on the brink of war and we have a young woman who loves her father but does not care for the man he has chosen for her. This one is full of drama and a very interesting twist who knew that Adrian was really a pirate and let us not forget the kidnapping too. Be prepared the story states at the end it all started when lightning strikes and frightens her horse and the action from there will not let you down. This is a book you will not want to put down it was simply splendid. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
