José Betancort Cabrera, más conocido por su pseudónimo Ángel Guerra, es uno de los más destacados escritores canarios de comienzos del siglo XX. Nacido en Teguise (Lanzarote) en 1874, marchó joven a Las Palmas, donde comenzó una larga carrera periodística que le llevó a colaborar en más de doscientas cabeceras nacionales y extranjeras.
