Cooper Bennett and the Devil's Ire

Rate this book
The Bear Kingdoms of Louisiana are on the brink of war, sparked by the sudden appearance of a mysterious amulet in the swamplands. Adding to the problems, troops from a demon army called the Noctis begin laying waste to the bayou.

Back in Georgia, Cooper Bennett’s not so secret life is quickly becoming a mess. The Alpha Power within him is taking a toll while the two loves of his life - Alyssa Noble and Billy Arnett - are dealing with drastic changes of their own.

As the southern conflict spreads, threatening to engulf shifter and human communities alike, fate brings all these disparate groups together to combat the darkness.

Can such an unlikely alliance succeed in saving everything they hold dear, or will their differences be enough to unravel what little hope and time remain?

I’ve been not so patiently wait for this book and it was really good. Czermak has such a way with words and a very vivid description to detail. Reading this story felt like a movie was playing out before my very eyes. I loved seeing the maturation of the characters. The secondary story was well written and I loved how it all came together with the main plot. Seeing glimpses of The Journeymen always makes my day. Plus, my favorite demon, Dajjal makes an appearance as well. I must say the last few chapters had me at the edge of my seat and I was so ready to throw my kindle when I finished! I need the next book ASAP!!!! Czermak’s writing and storytelling keeps on getting better and he is my new King of Paranormal. Hands. Down.

Again Golden Czermak has written a story that blows me away!!
I LOVED Secret Life Of Cooper Bennett (my favorite by him) but hated to see it end. I wanted to see what the future held for the ABC friends. I wanted to know how they would handle the changes they would go through. This book gave me all that and more!!
The friends embraced their changes (some not so willingly) and their friendship became stronger.
As with his other books there are battles of epic proportions, good vs evil in every way! Told in such detail that you are right there fighting with them. And the various creatures we meet through out the story are described with such detail you see them come to life from the pages.
One of my favorite parts was the inclusion of characters from other books and the way the stories connected. Such a fascinating phenomenal story! I can't wait to see what this authors magnificent imagination comes up with next.

The Secret Life Of Cooper Bennett was my gateway to Golden's writing, and in it he created a world so rich in detail it's easy to imagine magic is just around the corner even after you close the book.

Cooper Bennett And The Devil's Ire is that and so much more. Granted no two people truly read the same book, but this one hit home for me. The magic and sense of wonder are still there, but underneath that is the deeper current of exactly how powerful friendship, family, trust, honor, and respect can be.

Have you ever read a book and you have to literally soak it in for a bit? Like physically sit and ponder what you just read. Go through the twists and the turns and then after a bit it hits and pieces start clicking together for you. You think you have finally figured out the code to a safe . Well I wish I could say I did, however, I'm still in shock over what I read. This story is one of those that you want to cherish from beginning to end. The paranormal world that has been created needs to be admired. You will see every part that has mystified you come together before your eyes.
With each turn of the page you feel the sense of evil maybe surrounding you. With each word on the page you see how each word is laid just like a perfect brick building and suddenly this whole world of Goodman is a real place. A tangible place that you can reach out and touch and everything has come to life. You absolutely know this world that has been built is coming through with each touch on the keyboard.
The old crew doesn't disappoint in any way the reasons you feel in love with them are the reasons you are still are in love. The new characters will captivate you just as much. I mean who could think of a bear shifter? Let alone to describe them in such detail that you fall in love with a bear!!!!
When you move into the fighting you can feel everything and see it taking place before your eyes. The emotions you are dragged through with each heart stopping page turn. I don't want to give to much away cause part of the excitement of this book is the journey that everyone takes as they read it. The only warning I will give is as some point you may spontaneously combust so be prepared for a cold shower or have a fire extinguisher close by cause you know you won't want to put the book down for a moment.

Mentally seeing everything come together in this book can only be described as "nuclear mind blowing!"

This story needs to be savored, so many interconnecting parts from every story made in this paranormal world Golden has created that you MUST read with this book being the last to make it all come full circle. New beginnings for the trio, new battles they fight against true evil to events yet to come from dreams...seriously, WOW is the word to say about this story!

Journeymen series to Cooper Bennett One to Manifest to Cooper Bennett Two THAT is how you need to read these books because they all interconnect perfectly in this order!

A GOLDEN WORLD!

Overwhelmed! In AWE! Gobsmacked!

The intricately carved world, molded with each amazing word, created by Master Storyteller, Golden Czermak, continues in his Cooper Bennett sequel, The Devil’s Ire.

This is not a fluffy, quick read. It is coarse, growly, and has teeth. It spans time and rushes at you, while pulling you away.

The interlocking characters grow, both figuratively and literally. Power is a friend and foe. Love is lost and found. Peace and war struggle to rule.

Ultimately, you reel with emotion, as our heroes, some visible and some not, battle to understand and succeed in the maze of Golden’s mind.

After staying up more than half the night, I can honestly say that Golden, did NOT let us down with this sequel. The elements of the first book, are all there.

Thrills
Plot twists
Action
Romance
Darkness
Gore
Lust
Hope

The feeling of fever is throughout the first half. You know something wicked is coming and the build is swift, informative, but intriguing. Even the first book is now the initial build up to me. All the hardship and struggle these characters go through, and by 85% of this book, all those happenings make perfect sense and seem beyond necessary.

The writing is INCREDIBLE. Enough description to transport me into this world. Little phrases and well-constructed sentences and suddenly Goodman is real. The forests are real. The cities that I know are real have become enchantingly real.

I love that no matter how wild the characters, no matter how bold the presence of magic might be in the book, it feels realistic. It feels like Golden is accounting the true story behind our dark and twisted fairytales.

The characters continued to runaway with my heart. The old crew, the ABC’s (Alyssa, Billy, Cooper) have had my love since book one, but the evolution of their friendship, their intense bond is a magic of its own that I adore. They are their own pack. The work that went into their diverse personalities, the blood sweat and tears that had to be given to breathe such life into them shows on every page.

Cooper is humble yet courageous and keeps this book moving forward easily. I love his moods, I love his thought process, I love his loyalty, I love his ability to shelf fear to stand for what he believes.

Alyssa, I just wish I could meet in person. Her place is never inconsequential. She holds a valid role that rises way above just the love interest. She’s the glue to the trio, she sees and respects the love that predates her relationship with Coop and I LOVE that she is secure enough and mature enough to do that.

Billy... sigh*
Has there ever been a more vibrant and lovable side character? He offers us humor when we need it (in the correct amounts), unwavering loyalty, and a bucket of FEELS that leave you ruined. His journey in book two is masterful. That enormous heart in him that he thinks is unimportant, is filled with bravery, self-sacrifice, love. Billy is the icon of humanity in the story.

Grayson Manning. Whoa. That man’s words are never not planned and measured. I love the contrast he brings to the sequel. In book one he made us see everything from another light and in this book he continues to be the alpha you want. The teacher, the broken one.

New characters:

Lobjörn, terrifies me. Such a well-constructed bad-ass and I gotta tell ya, the whole bear shifter thing, I love it all.

Lovjörn, I know I spelled that wrong, but he’s the other bear shifter king (trying not to spoil this) he’s epic. The dialogue alone is so much perfection.

Warren, all I can say is WINGS!!!!!!!!!! Omg I can’t handle reliving this.

Rikolf, my beating heart be still, I’m trying to use techniques for breathing, still not over it. More overwhelming alpha love.

Battle scenes in this book are movie status. I mean slow motion, fast, don’t blink, red ribbons of blood, gnashing of teeth, blur of claws, ART! The pep talks alone made me breakout in goosebumps and my desire to fight rose above the norm. Seriously, I wanted to fight something. Even my lamp seemed viable.

The depth of emotion during fight scenes was intense as HELL. That up and down of hope, despair, courage, fear, victory and then defeat. The close calls and the “too late” moments . This was total war and I saw it all.

The romance: not spoiling is so hard. Cooper and Alyssa continue with this beautiful mating bond. It was the goal in book one, in book two they have become mates in every sense of the word. They are a unit and the softness in their affectionate moments is elegant.

There is another love story that brews about 60% in and I can’t say who but I can say BE NEAR A FAN. Have cold things close. Maybe pause to breathe a few times, because the heat goes from 1 to 10 to I broke my thermostat when I bursted Into flames. But what makes it hot? Like Alyssa and Coop in the first story, it’s the steady climb of tenderness that makes you lose your head.

Rating this book is easy. Five-stars. Five. This was a perfect story. I adore this series and intend to have them all in paperback. It’s an instant supernatural classic.

This is a review of book 2 of Cooper Bennett series... if you have not read the first book.... eh, probably doesn't matter as I plan on not leaving any spoilers and being vague. though I would suggesting reading the books in order. That's kinda a must

trigger warnings: there's still gore. there's still death. there's some sexual scenes. I'd say this is a little more romantic than the previous one. the previous one I found a little grittier and it got in the way of finding anything very romantic imo. but I loved that grit n' grime so I didn't mind c: )

Pros:
*Continue of the characters I came to love. The characters have even grown and evolved some
*new favourite couple, even if it was kinda insta-love, I don't care. It was a much deserved love. for both participants. And let's not pretend we - well some of us - sometimes "put it all out there" on (more or less) first date. (prudes beware I guess)
*more of that good stuff (good writing [incl. nice detailed descriptions though not quite as much as in the previous book, iirc) and gore, though not just gore, I just like gore. I'm not a serial killer or serial killer wannabe. fictional gore only. RL gore makes me hella squeamish/cry... I don't like people getting hurt irl. makes me have a sad)
*plot = yes
*action = yes
*romance = yes
*sexy but not overly sexy = yes
^ good combo. I am not a fan of pure romance. If it doesn't include some action or adventure or fight brutal fight scenes (or at least witty humor), I'm exiting stage left. I'm not that romantic of a person, tbh. Though I do appreciate nice, sweet relationships. You'd have to be a real scrooge, not to be happy for happy people if they are happy for sweet/innocent reasons. fictional or not. being bitter doesn't help anyone. but I digress.. I'll stop this point before I get too off the rails, haha.

Cons:
*a splattering of typos/etc, but not too many. very few compared to many other e-books I have read. haven't read a hardback/paperback in forever in a half so hell. those probably have more typos now too. or I may notice them as I have more "edjumacating" now, haha.
*a flashback/talking about of the civil war era (in this shifter/etc-inclusive world). That period of time just presents itself as a killjoy to me. others may appreciate it though. to each their own. so this doesn't effect the rating I'm giving it. I enjoyed the other book more I think. But this one was an easier read and less gut-wrenching... but maybe because I now knew what to expect with its gruesome gore and battle scenes, haha.

New Horizons!!!

In Louisiana, The Bear Kingdoms were on the brink of a war between Lobjörn, Bear King of Tensas River Basin and his counterpart Svarbjörn, King of the Atchafalaya River Basin. Because of a mysterious amulet that appeared in the swamplands and that was now in the former's possession.

Not to mention that demons were going around killing supernatural beings and humans.

Meanwhile in Georgia, Cooper Bennett's life was a mess. The Alpha power within him was taking a told on him. Adding to that the two most important people in his life, Alyssa Noble and Billy Arnett were dealing with their own problems.

He was now the new Alpha of the Shadow Wolves, which wasn't easy. Things between the ABCs were different, the trio found themselves on different paths. No matter what, they still had each other's backs.

As things in NOLA threatened the supernatural and human worlds, new allies were formed between the species to defeat the enemy. Friendships and romances bloomed amidst the chaos.

It's always a delightful treat whenever the Journeymen make an appearance. Love how close Cooper and Grayson Manning were. As a matter a fact the Alpha of the White Wolves had an amazing bond with all of them.

The growth in Cooper, Alyssa and Billy was well done. Looking forward to more in this incredible series.

COOPER BENNETT AND THE DEVIL'S IRE is the second installment in Golden Czermak's COOPER BENNETT series. Wow if I thought the first book was great, let's just say that this one blew me away. The author has a way of drawing you in and leaving you wanting more at the end of the book. 5++++

Cooper Bennett and the Devil’s Ire is nothing short of phenomenal. In this story we see the aftermath of the battle that tore the small town of Goodman, GA apart. We see how the events created ripples that reach far beyond their small town.

We find out what has happened to Cooper, Alyssa and more importantly Billy. While the three are forever bound together by their love and friendship, all things change. With that change comes transformations.

In this story, the reader is transported from Goodman to the parishes of Louisiana. If you thought the imagery used to bring Goodman to life was amazing, you are in for a treat with the way Louisiana is brought to life. In this corner of the world, we get to see all the other shifters who make up the supernatural community. With each new species introduced you get a peek inside a world that you wish you lived in. Where bears, birds, boars, and wolves stand shoulder to shoulder. Where even more incredible creatures exit.

If you were a fan of The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett, this is definitely a must read. If you haven’t yet read the first installment, you need to pick both of these up now and read them. I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for Cooper and company.

The Battle Continues Stars!!!

I’ve been wanting another Cooper Bennett story since I finished the first book and boy did I get everything I wanted plus some!! Mr. Czermak has the uncanny ability to bring me right into his stories with a bang and this is especially important with this book as there are battles brewing and taking place that alter the universe as Alyssa, Billie and Cooper know it!!

One of the things I love the most about his books is the minute attention to detail that is so very important to these books. There’s a melding of worlds and battles are of epic proportions. The question is, will our three main characters come out swinging and accept what’s happening or will rebellion prevent them from seeing what’s practically written in the sky for them?

I was on the edge of my seat for most of the reading of this book. There’s just something about these books that captures me and I’m enthralled with the story. Add in some of my favorite characters from The Journeymen and I’m a happy, happy girl!!!

This is definitely not the end of the road for Cooper who is now the leader of the Shadow Wolves and I can’t wait to see what happens next!!

I loved book one and was really excited when a second book was announced to see what would happen after the drastic ending!
Cooper was as awesome as ever, the transformations through this book are great! The existing character developments and new characters that are introduced are all very well done, there are lots of ties in with The Journeymen series as well. And although the two tie, you don’t need to have read that series for this to make sense, there also isn’t a massive amount of information or explanation about that series either, certainly no spoilers, and the cross over is done beautifully!
You do need to read the descriptions at the start of the book. There are lots of characters with crazy names, titles and descriptions so it helps to go in with these at the fore. I did find it got a bit confusing in the thick of the excitement to remember quite who was who and where everyone fit in the big picture so it’s definitely worth a read.
This is another action packed adventure with a magical theme. It’s beautifully written and the cover is gorgeous!

Mystical battle of good vs. evil.

Cooper's story continues as he adjusts to his new role, while his relationship with Alyssa and Billy continues to grow and evolve. The writing is amazing, drawing the reader deep into this mystical world and making it seem splendidly realistic. The affection between our three leads was perfectly expressed, a love story built on a solid foundation of friendship.

The conflicts are intense and visceral as the supernatural battle takes the reader on a roller-coaster of emotions and experiences. The supporting characters, both new and familiar, are superbly developed. There's nothing typical or predictable about this story.

The action and suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to the triumphant conclusion. The lyrical flow of the story makes it nearly impossible to put this book down. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This book.... I have been waiting to find enough time to dive in knowing that once I start, there will be no putting it down until I've finished it. And I was right.
The attention to detail and the pictures that are painted in your mind when reading a 'Golden' book is nothing short of phenomenal. Everything is so vivid and each word is critical to the story, even if you don't understand it in the moment, there isn't anything that doesn't serve a specific purpose. These are books to be savored so you soak in all the details. That said, this story comes full circle if you've read Golden's other books, I love how they are tied together, don't worry if you haven't read the others yet, you'll still more than enjoy this story and will most likely want to pick them up to continue on the journey.

More than five stars are deserved whenever I throw my iPad!!

Yassss this book was so worth the wait!! After reading The Secret Life Of Cooper Bennett I needed more of Cooper and that’s exactly what Golden delivered. Cooper Bennett and The Devil’s Ire is filled with action, adventure, love and friendship. I’m still completely blown away with this story.

This story continues the amazing sage of Copper Bennett. He is still trying to understand all that has happened to him and his friends that fateful day in Goodman. There is still evil in the air so who knows what will happen next. I couldn’t put this book down the characters and plot kept me guessing. The creative genius of this author to intertwine the worlds of Wolves, Bears and a few more surprises was phenomenal.

You will laugh, want to cry even scream and definitely be on the edge of your seat!! I devoured this book just as I did The Secret Life Of Cooper Bennett.

This is a must read I promise you will be begging for more!! I need more of Cooper in my life!! Can I have a book 3 please? I will never get enough of Cooper.

Cooper, Alyssa, and Billy have all lost so much but their friendship stays strong. In this book they have to join together with another group of supernatural beings to fight the evil that is lurking. They will find strength in each other and with their new friends.
This book really pulls you eat you want to breathe n every word and ponder over the outcome. What a story is sitting in between the cover of this book. I recommend you read the first in this series before this one. It will give you insight to what is going on.

Golden never fails to impress me and once again I found myself in his story, like actually immersed in it because reading a book by him is like going to the movies. This story is just another testament to his immense talent, great story telling and amazing descriptive ability.
I loved this sequel to The Secret Life and the way this story interlaces with the Journeyman series, not to mention how well the author handled the whole thing. I really liked the growth and evolution of the characters and their acceptance of new realities as well as the developments and new POV of the war against the Noctis.

When you open a book you have an expectation of what you are diving into; not with this author. Everytime I open one of his books I am thrown into an adventure that takes you to different lands and dimensions. Cooper Bennett is just that, three friends that never knew what was surrounding them and what they would become in order to survive and live amongst those that look just like them, but have secrets. This second book, was thrilling, emotional and adventurous. I love this series and if you are into the fantasy of a story, you need to dive into this and capture all the feels.

A few 'gasp' moments for me . Especially when a certain someone makes an appearance. ( form the authors other books) .

Cooper has come to terms with his new identity but will the Packs follow? Book 2 can be read as a stand alone but highly recommend reading book 1 first to get the background. Cooper is doing everything he can to bring order to the Pack and get acceptance, how far will he have to go to earn their trust?

Another amazing written book that at the end had my head spinning and so excited to see what comes next

I absolutely loved this book! As with the many Golden Czermak novels I’ve read, the picturesque writing creates a movie scene in your mind and you’re immersed fully into the action. This sequel picks up where The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett left off and we see a lot more action here. I had hoped for more romance but that’s purely personal preference, we get enough to add to the story but not take it over. I’m hoping this isn’t the end!

Written so vividly you can SEE the story unfold. This book was worth the wait! I thought my mind was blown with book 1, I had no idea what what in store for the sequel! Golden has a way of storytelling that makes the reader actually experience what is going on, the words on the page become 3 dimensional. I loved the return of the “ABC’s” and truly look forward to more of them in the future (hint hint).

This book provides readers with more of everything they found amazing in the first book and just intensifies it all. Cooper's back and his complicated life is certainly not getting any easier.
