Knight Time for Paris

Rate this book
Pigalle and Montmartre, two districts in the heart of Paris, have fallen under the influence of drug dealing gangsters who threaten not just the nation's capital, but France itself. The last thing Parisians expect is a medieval counterattack, but a handful of nobly minded men, aided by a young historian, believe that only the crusading spirit of the Middle Ages can turn the tide. They have no idea what kind of sinister force awaits them, but neither does the enemy understand who these knights really are, or where they come from, or what they're capable of. Knight Time for Paris was runner-up in the Athanatos Writing Contest.

“Knight Time for Paris,” by Preston Shires, is a very interesting read! This is a book that really lets the reader see the good guys from the bad guys. The good guys are striving to “fix” all the bad in their area, they understand what happens to kids that grow up without dads, they understand that divorce just brings more pain, and they understand how video games are a waste of time and brain power. The fact that these “good guys” are from a different century doesn’t really matter. To these men good is good, and right is right.

The “bad guys” are happy to let the gangs and drug dealers take over a small portion of Paris. Let them have the slums, the losers, the downtrodden. At least then they leave other wealthy portions of Paris alone! So what if some of the leaders are “allowing” certain behaviors because they have secret plans…

Our knights have built themselves a fortress in the middle of the city, and as they start to understand how evil the world has become, they are quite noble and willing to listen to the problem’s society faces. They also come up with some unique discipline. They might even get an army by kidnapping homeless folks and giving them a place to live!

Shires has written a story with many twists and turns! He reminds us that there really is nothing new under the sun. The only thing I had an issue with in this book is all the foreign names! I find Joe or John MUCH easier to read than Renaud d’ Arcel or Chretien de Vaucouleurs!! But don’t let yourself be thrown off by these names. This is a great story, I personally think it is something the guys would like a bit more than women, but hey, I am female and I enjoyed it!
