I liked the story a lot. It quite steamy and Carter was very hot! Paige was a strong-minded woman, the only issue was with the way Ruby was described as an ex-hood rat. And she was characterized as ghetto and rachet. As a woman of color, I had an issue with Ruby's depiction. I would like to read more about Paige and Carter though. I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Ruby made a toast to Paige Robinson as the members of the City of Chicago’s Cook County State’s Attorney’s office raised their glasses. As they laughed and celebrated Paige’s successful career so far, another power group of male attorneys walked into the bar. One in particular caught her eye and she decided he just might need taming. He had walked over to her table and they flirted a little. But in the distraction that followed, when her co-workers went a little wild on a couch and the manager and bouncers went over to see them, the handsome man she had been talking to disappeared.

After teasing Ruby at work the next day, Paige read the contents of the envelope Ruby handed her. It seems her mother had big news and asked her to meet at an expensive restaurant for lunch. As soon as she walked in, she saw the obviously wealthy man with her mother – husband-to-be number five? He was introduced as Charles Winchester, whom she recognized immediately. Her mother had finally snagged a billionaire. Then Charles told Paige that he wanted her to join his firm’s legal team to defend John T. Mitcham in his murder trial. He had researched her and knew she was capable. Furthermore, she would receive a full partnership if she won. It was so tempting, but it felt like a handout from her mother and that enabled her to politely refuse. She told her mother she did not need her help, and told Charles he would be her step-father in name only and would probably never see her again. Then she left the restaurant.

Back at the office, her assistant announced that Carter Blake was on line one, then said he it was regarding the possibly criminal incident they witnessed in the bar down the street – to jog her memory. Ahhh, the handsome man who had disappeared from the bar! He told her he was a defense attorney and since she was a prosecuting attorney, they needed to discuss that bar incident and how to approach it. She heard the smile in his voice. And they made arrangements to have dinner, and later spend some quality time together!

Called to a conference room, Ruby and Paige grabbed coffee and headed downstairs, thinking this was a routine meeting. Instead, they found their Cook County State’s Attorney boss and the Mayor of Chicago! Their boss was appointing Ruby, Paige, and Dale as the prosecuting team for the Mitcham trial – and even though Ruby had seniority, Paige was to be the lead prosecutor!!

The prosecuting team headed for the courthouse. Paige heard her mother call out to her on the steps. She and Charles were there because his son was going to be defending the accused. But the biggest surprise of all waited in the courtroom. Carter was talking to her mother and Charles, she figured because he was part of the defense team. She walked over and was introduced to “Sheldon Carter Winchester” – her soon-to-be BROTHER and the lead defense lawyer on this case!!! She couldn’t begin to process where this revelation would lead her now!

This was such a clever story line that really delivered. The characters were really well presented and were likeable and believable. Ruby and Paige had a great relationship and were always there for each other. Carter and Paige both agreed not to start a relationship, but it seemed like that might have been difficult to attain – at least until they met in court. Grab your copy and catch up on the repercussions of this startling revelation! It’s a wild ride for sure!

A really quick, hot read.💓

This is one of those books that is good but could have been much better if it went a little deeper into the characters and the story. But as it stands, it's a really fast read for when you don't have time for a novel but need something to read. 😉💓

Paige is a defense attorney on the rise when she meets Carter at a promotion party for her at a local bar. She is instantly attracted to him but has decided to make him wait a bit since she thinks he's an arrogant man who needs taming. Carter wants her from the moment he sees her but they both are sidetracked by the show they get to watch involving her two co-workers.🤣

This really is a fun story that gets really steaming hot but has a happily ever after. Don't be surprised if you need a cool drink and a fan right from the beginning.💕🔥💦🍹💕

This is not your typical, saccharine-sweet romance. Paige is a woman with intellect, firm standards, and dedication to herself and her job as an Assistant DA. Then enters Carter, an over the top, self-assured confident private lawyer. At first, it appears they are on opposite sides of the same coin. Yet we see this headstrong couple come into a realization of what truly matters... friendship, trust, and love. Despite having the potential awkwardness of family dynamics, they manage to create their own place in the world.

Paige is an up-and-coming ADA in Chicago and she meets a hot, arrogant guy while out with friends. He finds her the next day and takes her out to a really top-knotch restaurant but they do NOT make it through dinner before their libidos take over and they rush back to his hotel. Paige has the hottest sex of her life and can’t stop thinking about Carter but they tacitly agreed it was a one time thing, right? Big surprise awaits her in the courtroom!!!

LAURA HAVEMEYERS is becoming a new favourite author for me.
OMG !! Sexy as Hell is a really hot and sexy story that grabbed me from the first chapter and did not disappoint at all right to the end !!
Paige and Carter are hard headed control freaks, neither one is willing to five an inch. There are shocks awaiting for us as the story unfolds but I do not want to spoil the book for you so GRAB the book and delve into the best read that I have read to date !!!!

Paige is a prosecutor who has met a really sexy, arrogant charming man with feelings high and after a sexual encounter, Paige is in court for a big case and finds her mum there with her new boyfriend, they are there supporting the defender, who turns out to be non other than Paige's new man..... that's all the spoilers your getting from me..... a must read, really gripping from the start. Excellent 5 stars

Short but searing, sexy read

This is a (very) short but burning hot stepbrother story. It is straight to the story with no preamble, is filled with scorching pages as the couple get to know one another intimately and then finishes almost as abruptly. Worth a quick read if you have an hour of (private!) reading time.

The story of Carter and Paige is hot, sexy and short. There's not much romance but there is plenty of lust and a HFN - it leaves you feeling that the romance will grow between them, no cliffhangers though.

This book had me hooked before I even finished the first chapter. It was funny we'll written and the characters were great together. My only complaint is that this book was too short. Carter and paige's chemistry was off the charts hot. This book is a must read.

This is the 3rd book I've read by this author and it is my favorite. This is a very steamy book with great characters. Paige meets Carter while out at a bar with coworkers. They both feel an intense attraction. Things heat up from there. Great quick read.

It was a good read. I had my doubt in the beginning but it turned out to be a really good story. Paige and Carter are both attorneys, and found out that her mother is marrying his father. I would have loved for the author to expand a little on the ending.

Amazingly interesting full of steamy encounters, thoughts and forbidden love at first site romance. This book is one that would appeal to readers seeking a hot short romance where characters encounter several surprising circumstances leading to surprise meetings and heated fantasies by two characters living out the intimate fantasies of non-commitment, heavily sexual and explicit encounters uccuring in mostly public places and a supposed-to-be one night stand. Each fighting to control the erotic passions of each other the characters find themselves exchanging power leading to a happily ever after forbidden future.
