James Madison, the Founder of the Constitution. A man that was pretty short and never really was in good health. A man that owned 108 slaves. A man that was supported freedom of religion. A man who was the Secretary of State and even the President of the United States.

He was involved in founding the government and determining the shape that the government would take. He had to deal with state's rights problems, Patrick Henry (a political enemy), the problem with immigration (Irish at the time) and even had to deal with a second war with England.

You can see that he had a great number of things to deal with in the government. He did so with intelligence and determination. He didn't always win but he had a good idea of where the country should be headed.

This book covers all of that and it's interesting to see that many of the problems he had to face are not very different from the problems still facing our country today. A good book.

I love these books. Detailed, interesting, and satisfying to read! They always leave me wanting another and I do hope that they continue to expand volumes! So look forward to these reads!
