the 5 stars may look crazy- especially after 1984’s 4 stars- but I just don’t think u could find a book of this style and genre that does it better. In this sense, u can find no faults! Very comprehensive and well thought out
An easy to digest and follow guide detailing steps for an activist campaign. Anecdotes are clearly distinguished from step by step advice and there are graphics and examples. I wish it had a little more about how to grow a movement in the beginning stages and what stages might be. Perhaps also something more on coalition building and strategies for educating and persuading the public. Though it does cover social media and news media outreach. I just wonder how does one approach more complex movements and messages that need more time to digest.
I bought this book just after it was released six years ago and I have FINALLY sat down for 30 minutes to flick through it.
Packaged with a beautiful design, the book offers some basic “you go get ‘em” paragraphs, some very practical frameworks and pieces of advice, and some case studies.
If you are a British young person who is just getting for the first time ever, it is motivational and useful. If you’re not, it’s a pleasurable wee book to flick through.
A practical guidebook to organising for social change, with bold graphics that pack a punch, encouraging case studies and both strategic and tactical tips and ideas. Indeed, every idea that was once deemed absurd and is today considered mainstream is thanks to the work of grassroots activists. We can be the change. I, for one, am inspired!
Introduction to activism for beginners. Easy to read. Inspires you to act. Covers everything you need to know. Beautifully presented and illustrated. The book is like a work of art in itself! Want to buy everyone a copy of this book.
Following the saying ”a call that should have been an email", this is a book that should have been a series of blog posts and nothing more. It's very thin in terms of real life examples of activism initiatives.
