The difference between a hero and a tyrant is charisma.
Fresh off their defeat of the lich’s army, Gary and his friends find themselves preparing for an even larger threat. While unlocking elder magic gave them the juice they needed to turn aside one foe, it unstoppered the bottle holding back an ancient evil. Gary knows what’s coming because he wrote it.
Now, with political responsibilities crushing him from one side and a demonic army looming on the other, Gary must balance the necessity of victory with the means to achieve it.
After all, what good is saving a kingdom only to become the villain?
Hero Time puts the RPG into LitRPG, taking the ever-growing GameLit genre back to its tabletop roots. If you miss the rattle of dice and gaming at a table with your friends, the Metagamer Chronicles are what you've been craving. Fans of Dungeons and Dragons and old TSR novels will love Hero Time.
This book (and the series) probably don't deserve 4 stars, but between the world, the characters, and the underlying conceit, it was just fun to read.
The ending of this book ran long, but that actually contributed to the very end of the story, so I'm willing to forgive that. It's definitely not a 5-star experience, and it probably wouldn't get 4-stars if you're not a fairly serious LitRPG fan, but for me, it was a lot of fun.
I loved this book it ended the series well. Although I have one huge question..... Did that experience mess with Caspian's growth and development. I mean he became a wolf and when he comes back he starts acting wolfy.. Is that going to continue or will it go away? That question should have been addressed I feel...
I must admit, this is one great ending to a series, and it's a good place for an ending. A lot of series carry on until they die against their will, where as this one dies a glorious death of it's own choosing.
This one is still fun and all but... Well... It's just so damn rushed. And at the same time drags on in a way. Hard to describe... But I feel like the whole series could've been cut down to one 500 page book.
I cannot recommend this series enough. Great storyline. Excellent descriptions and characters. Well thought out and interesting. It’s been years since a book has brought me to tears. Great job.
