Attraverso una narrazione in terza persona conosciamo i personaggi di Kimberly e Luc assoluti protagonisti, assieme al letto, di questa tormentata storia d’amore, in cui solo sporadicamente appaiono gli altri personaggi secondari.
Luc è stato il primo amore di Kimberly, quando era ancora una giovane e ingenua ragazza, e dopo sette anni in cui non si sono mai sentiti, lo contatta perché qualcuno minaccia il loro figlio chiedendo una somma che lei non possiede. L’ostacolo è che Luc non sa che è diventato padre e diffida delle parole della donna.
Se Kimberly pensa di non essere più la ragazza che Luc ha frequentato anni prima, poiché adesso mamma responsabile e protettiva, nel giro di pochissime ore si smentisce cedendo allo scambio/ricatto sessuale che le propone l’uomo. Senza andare a controllare che il figlio sia davvero al sicuro, che fra l’altro abita dall’altra parte dell’oceano, lo continua a lasciare in custodia a un suo amico, limitandosi a brevi e sporadiche telefonate. Il suo personaggio l’ho trovato insipido, poco consistenze e totalmente sprovvisto dell’istinto materno poiché in una situazione come la sua non è logico che lei reagisca, e agisca, in quel modo.
Luc d’altro canto non è da meno: si capisce che è cresciuto nelle favelas ma non come sia diventato un uomo ricchissimo, potente e temuto da molti. Anche dalla stessa Kimberly che non può tornare dal figlio minacciato di rapimento perché deve tornare nel letto di lui. Però non chiede di fare nessun test del DNA per constatare se il figlio è veramente suo, ma paga la cospicua somma richiesta dal ricattatore anonimo, pur di rifare sesso con Kimberly e la tratta come un giochino sessuale.
Gli elementi che potevano sostenere la loro storia d’amore sono stati inseriti velocemente e non sviluppati in maniera da arricchire una trama scarna e basica che ruota solamente sulla ritrovata passione di un tempo (si parla di un mese di frequentazione avuto sette anni prima e che sembra non si sia mai assopito).
La storia, intesa come racconto che accompagna piacevolmente la lettrice, non c’è perché è tutta una questione di sesso irrefrenabile per Kimberly e autorità cavernicola per Luc. Ed è un vero peccato poiché, avendo letto in precedenza altri libri della Morgan, mi ha amaramente sorpresa leggere una storia scritta male e senza enfasi se non quella di mettere in risalto il sesso fine a se stesso.
Spero che questo sia uno scivolone della Morgan perché non posso credere che abbia perso lo stile romantico ed elegante che ho sempre apprezzato nei suoi libri al punto di iniziare questa lettura con grande entusiasmo e con l’aspettativa di trascorrere del tempo piacevole con i suoi personaggi. Purtroppo non è andata così.

2.5 stars rounded down. There were 10 chapters. Until Chapter 8 and a half, the H had never kissed h. The H is a widower with a young daughter who is a year old and feels guilty about the loss of his wife in childbirth as H is a doctor himself. The story has lots of angst and unrequited love that pours from h. One kiss leads to a night and H realizes he is in love and we are in Chapter 9 and then a 2 minute proposal after H's sister also h's best friend lets H know that h is leaving the island and moving away? After 8.5 chapters of unrequited love, I wanted a few chapter to see how they actually come together. It felt like a beginning and not the end.

Evanna is een toegewijde verpleegkundige, collega, dorpsgenoot en vriendin. Voor iedereen staat ze klaar, ze geeft adviezen en helpt waar nodig. Maar toch is er iets in haar leven dat niet lukt, werkt of mogelijk is. Dat is haar liefde voor Logan MacNeil. De dokter, de broer van haar beste vriendin die onverwachts weduwnaar werd en een vader is van de pasgeboren Kristy. Ze is al zo lang verliefd op hem dat het zelfs pijn doet. Pijn omdat hij haar niet ziet als “Evanna” hij ziet haar als collega, oppas en vriendin van zijn zus.
Wordt het haar allemaal te veel en neemt ze daardoor de beslissing om het eiland te verlaten?
Je kreeg in het voorgaande deel in deze reeks al wat mee rond de twee hoofdpersonages. Het trauma van Logan MacNeil rond thuisbevallingen zit diep en veroorzaakt meermaals dieptepunten voor hem. Toch is het soms nodig om in bijna dezelfde situatie terug te komen om alles terug helder te kunnen zien en het rouw en verwerkings proces in gang te zetten.
De strijd die Evanna dan weer erg mee worstelt, is wat hart en verstand haar ingeven en de liefde voor kleine Kristy.
Sarah Morgan gaat mooi in het zelfde elan verder van de eilanddokter reeks.
Ze schrijft gepassioneerd over werken in de zorg, met de belemmeringen en avonturen van een eiland.
Heerlijke feelgood met op de juiste momenten wat diepgang.
Een verhaal dat herkenbaar is en toch ook dat sprookjesachtige heeft met de prins op het witte paard.
Met dat paard ga ik in galop naar het derde deel in deze reeks.

In questo secondo libro della serie ambientata a Glenmore island una piccola isola della Scozia i protagonisti sono Logan ed Evanna lui medico e lei infermiera ostetrica.
Si conoscono da tutta la vita, lei è la migliore amica della sorella di Logan e da sempre innamorata di Logan.
Logan viene da un anno terribile, è rimasto vedovo e padre lo stesso giorno e sta cercando di fare il genitore per sua figlia Kristy.
Evanna spesso gli da una mano ma lui sembra avere i paraocchi perché è l'unico che non si accorge dei sentimenti di lei, finché galeotto non fu un bagno.
La scrittura della Morgan mi piace molto, è molto scorrevole e i personaggi sono sempre ben descritti.
La pecca di questo libro è che entrambi i protagonisti sono insicuri e fino alla fine le incomprensioni la fanno da padrone.
Il libro è breve e lo si legge velocemente

Easy reading Evanna has always been the reliable friend that picks up the pieces when her friends need her.

The problem is Evanna is love with Logan and always has been, but Evanna is the one Logan turns to after his wife dies and needs help with his new born daughter.

12 months later and Evanna can no longer be the one Logan turns to unable to tell him that she loves his she is willing to leave Glenmore and start a new life.

Will Logan realise in time that Evanna is the one???

Easy read at it best, nice story with a feel good factor read.

If I thought "Eindeloze zomer" went a little to fast for my taste, "Duizenmaal ja" went by even quicker. [SPOILER] This was the part of Glenmore Island series that I was waiting for. It's about Logan and Evanna. Who doesn't love a good friends to lover novel. In this book Logan's a single father who lost his wife during childbirth. Evanna, friends with Logan, helps him with his daughter. Evanna has always had feelings for Logan. In the last two chapter this comes to a peak. In my opinion this could have taken longer. I will keep reading this series, but it doesn't convince me.

I'd read the third book in this series first, then the first book so I was looking forward to Logan and Evanna's story. I'm quite disappointed.
Logan spent at least two-thirds of the book as Dr Oblivious to Evanna's feelings and whined to her about how he was so sought after by the island's women.
For her part, Evanna was a drip. She decided not to interact with Logan outside work then immediately agreed to watch his toddler, at his house, on her day off. For free.
They didn't even seem like the characters from the other two books.
Two stars for the medical/patient content.

Buku kedua dari series ini lebih mendingan dikit dari buku pertama.

Perubahan mendadak dari H/H ini yang cukup mencengangkan. Evanna yg sudah mencintai Logan seumur hidupnya akhirnya menyerah terhadap Logan dan bersiap move on. Tapi malah bertingkah makin aneh di depan Logan.

Logan yg tak pernah menatap Evanna sbg wanita akhirnya matanya terbuka setelah sebuah insiden di rumahnya.

Hmmm.. Tp jujur scene di pantai sangat menarik. 🤭

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this much more than book 1 even though Logan was pretty oblivious. I could empathise with Evanna and I felt her struggles. Once Logan realised what was in front of him, the going was good. It was great to see some regular Glenmore residents again, and the medical practice info was an interesting touch.

This story was very sweet. They have known each other since childhood. She has always wanted him. But he eventually found someone else and married her. Now he is a widow with a child. She is tired of watching him with others. So she plans to move. But he is now finding out that he needs her more than as a work college. Will it be too late for them?

I thought it was an enjoyable read but then it turned out dully.

Main character Evanna Duncan had been in love with Doctor Logan MacNeil as far as she can remember. He also happens to be her best friend's brother. Logan's wife died a year ago after giving birth to his daughter, Kristy. He did not date and gave his all attention to his daughter and family.

In the whole book, it's very hard to read about Evanna's feelings. The way she stutters when he's near her or her heartbeat racing etc when he looks at her. I mean, come on, you are in love with this guy the whole life and now you start to stutter or all the way you've been stuttering around him? But it's very sad to read when the person you in love with only treat you as his friend.

Then things change when an incident occurred at Logan's place. Suddenly he felt the attraction towards Evanna. The ending is unbelievable.

Kimberley Townsend ha un disperato bisogno di aiuto: qualcuno sta ricattando suo figlio e le sue finanze non si avvicinano neanche lontanamente alla cifra richiesta dal ricattatore. L’unica persona che la può aiutare è il suo ex fidanzato Luc Santoro, imprenditore brasiliano di successo noto anche per l’abilità nel sedurre belle donne. Kimberley vorrebbe a tutti i costi evitare di chiedere una mano all’uomo che le ha distrutto il cuore ma per il bene di suo figlio deve mettere da parte l’orgoglio.
Luc, dopo aver incontrato e ascoltato la ragazza, non le crede e pensa che sia tutta una farsa per spillargli cinque milioni dalle sue tasche. Nonostante questa consapevolezza, il giovane imprenditore brasiliano accetta di trasferirle il denaro ad una condizione: per due settimane Kimberley dovrà concedersi a lui nei modi da lui scelti nella sua isola privata. Kimberley non vuole essere il giocattolino dell’uomo che l’ha distrutta psicologicamente anni prima, ma per amore di suo figlio è costretta ad accettare. Nel periodo che trascorreranno insieme la ragazza è piuttosto determinata a far cambiare idea a Luc sul suo conto, anche se l’impresa sarà decisamente ardua.

Allora, parto col dire che tutti mi hanno sempre parlato benissimo di questa autrice. Non avendo mai letto nulla della Morgan, ho iniziato “L’isola dell’amore” carica e piena di aspettative, molte delle quali, devo essere sincera, sono state deluse.
Innanzitutto, la storia raccontata in questi termini e con questo stile mi ha fatta arrabbiare non poco: mi è sembrata maschilista, con una visione della donna alquanto limitata a soddisfare i piaceri dell’uomo. Siamo nel 2020 e ancora di storie di questo tipo se ne legge a bizzeffe. Non oso ritenermi femminista, dal momento che spesso questa espressione viene intesa impropriamente, però alcune cose mi lasciano letteralmente l’amaro in bocca.
Luc è descritto fin dall’inizio come un arrogante e presuntuoso uomo d’affari, il quale non prova nemmeno a credere a quanto gli sta raccontando Kimberley. Nonostante la sua diffidenza verso la donna, decide comunque di assecondarla e accettare di versarle i cinque milioni, purché lei si presti a soddisfare qualsiasi sua fantasia a letto. Detto fuori dai denti, siamo nel 2020 e una concezione della donna in questi termini è agghiacciante, oltre che riprovevole. Il libro non fa altro che mascherare tutto ciò dietro alla evidente attrazione che la protagonista indubbiamente prova per Luc. Questo però non deve trarre in inganno: nonostante Kimberley sia profondamente ammaliata dal bel brasiliano, il risultato non cambia, la visione della donna come soddisfacimento maschile è evidente allo stesso modo.
Nonostante alla fine del libro venga rivelato che Luc in realtà sia innamorato da sempre di Kimberley, questo non giustifica né sminuisce il modo in cui l’ha trattata per due settimane.
La novella è composta da un centinaio di pagine, di cui le prime ottanta circa proseguono in modo molto lento e monotono. Dopodiché la narrazione sembra aver assunto qualche sostanza stupefacente poiché, da quando terminano le due settimane oggetto dell’accordo tra i due protagonisti, la velocità di narrazione si fa sempre più intensa fino ad arrivare all’ultima pagina quasi con il fiatone. A mio parere, il libro avrebbe potuto essere un po’ più lungo ma magari con una struttura più organica e bilanciata. Del resto, non sarebbe stato male proseguire la lettura dal momento che lo stile di scrittura è accattivante e motiva il lettore a continuare.
Infine, l’ultimo punto che vorrei evidenziare è stato la trattazione del discorso del rapimento. A mio avviso, si tratta di un tema “buttato là”, senza una precisa idea di sviluppo della vicenda e decisamente trattato in maniera superficiale. Non si può basare un intero libro su un dato accadimento, per poi decidere di narrarlo in tre o quattro pagine perché non è così che funziona.
Purtroppo, la prima impressione per quanto riguarda questa autrice non è stata delle migliori. Non ho intenzione, però, di buttarmi giù: le darò sicuramente una seconda possibilità con un titolo magari più noto in modo da avere una visione più chiara.
Solitamente consiglio i libri che leggo in base ai tratti caratterizzanti del libro ma in questo caso non mi sento di consigliarlo per i motivi resi noti in precedenza.

I read this in Summer Fling a two in one republish of books one and two of this series (books three and four have been republished in Summer Kisses)
Wanted to review separately I really enjoyed this though the characters were well set up in book one (A Bride for Glenmore) I don't think you need to have read book one to follow the story but it would give a fuller picture if you have. Lots of overlapping characters as the main male character (Logan) in this story is the brother of the main female character (Kyla) from book one.
They say love is blind and in Logan's case it certainly takes him longer than most to see clearly but it's lovely to see the fog clear bit by bit between the characters.
Going to have a break for something different before moving onto Summer Kisses to complete books three and four of the Glenmore Doctor Series

L’isola dell’amore” è un libro uscito nel 2006 con un’altra casa editrice ma la HarperCollins ha voluto ripubblicare questa storia per noi lettrici e, non avendola letta all’epoca, ho deciso di prendere l’occasione e recuperarla ora, ma, ahimè, seppure ho ritrovato la bravura dell’autrice sono rimasta un po’ delusa della storia, troppo breve e troppo poco dettagliata.Il protagonista maschile ad esempio è davvero ben strutturato.
Luc, il protagonista mascile, è un tipo ombroso, affascinante e maniaco del controllo, Kimberley, la protagonista femminile, è una donna cha ama suo figlio più di ogni altra cosa, tanto da chiedere aiuto a un uomo che odia e che un tempo amava.
Peccato per la brevità del testo, che non dà modo alla storia di decollare.
Avrei voluto più dettagli, romantici o passionali, dei quindici giorni che i due hanno passato insieme a innamorarsi di nuovo.

Single Father Wife Needed is the story of Evanna and Logan. It's about unrequited love. And friends to lovers trope. Evanna has loved Logan all her life. But he has absolutely no idea. he has always considered her as a friend and colleague. Logan's wife died in childbirth, leaving him a little girl to raise with the help of his extended family. He has buried himself in work. And when he FINALLY noticed Evanna, he was afraid to lose her long life friendship. My heart went to Evanna and I really wanted to hit Logan on his head to smack some sense in him.
