A Different Romance: A Switch From Cocky

Rate this book
Izzy nails it. There’s no manufacturing or design problem she can’t solve, no project she can’t bring home within budget and on deadline. She’s always right–when it involves machinery. Which . . . doesn’t make friends. Her love life? None. Now her son is off to college. Suddenly Burke jumps into her life, inexplicably determined that she is The One. He has a face and body that stops conversations when he walks into the room, is a successful Engineering Manager, and even worse, is younger than her. Can this be real? Or is it a game to him? He’s hiding something, but what? How bad is he? As he unfurls from the tight restraint he keeps on his other life so it won’t show, her precisely planned life is turned upside down. Book 1 of a 10-book series. The modest, circumspect, honest to a fault Isabel enters a world where being right isn’t the half of it. Can she love a man hiding so many secrets? Too late–she already does. Why is he certain she’s strong enough to bear it all?

when i started the book, i was reading in my head as fast as i thought the character was probably thinking! and whoa! that was crazy. izzy and i have some things in common and i almost gave up in the beginning.

she has some nagging suspicions about burke, thinking he might be too good to be true. when she finds out some of his darker side, she doesn't go running-but i would have!

burke brings to light something about izzy that makes total sense after getting to know her. but he keeps her in the dark where she would want to be. it makes you want to know what else is coming up.

i had to devote some serious time to this book, there was a lot of engineering talk, but it was really interesting to me. i like how good izzy is at her job and how she works through how underappreciated she is.

Neurodivergent MC and the beginning of a FemDomme romance!
