Her real life is no fairy tale and she’s no Cinderella.
After what her ex-husband did to her, heiress Henna Colombo is a man-hater, not a dater. And the thing she hates most of all is the fairytale of falling in love.
Why does her father and her new wicked stepmother insist she keep looking for her prince? And why at The Perfect Date? Only the most pathetic losers use a dating service.
She’s fine being single. As far as Henna’s concerned, the love god can take his diaper-wrapped butt and arrows elsewhere. Cupid can also shove those arrows where the sun don’t shine if he thinks for one second that someone like Vassal Milano is her perfect man.
Vassal’s perfect alright—perfect at sneaking around behind her back. Just like her ex, she caught him kissing someone else.
No… she didn’t confront Vassal about it. Why would she put herself through all that heartache and torture again? Outside of a few unforgettable kisses, she and Vassal were only friends anyway. Cupid’s arrow missed her that time—thankfully.
As for the whole dating thing and looking for any sort of honorable Prince Charming? Forget it. No such man exists. Luckily, Henna doesn’t care.
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
To say I love this series is an understatement – the stories about couples who are not very young are hilarious and totally relatable! In Never Look Back, the couple IS younger than the others in the series and you know what? It is STILL hilarious. And touching. And sweet. And it kicks butt, too!
There’s no easy way to explain the heroine, Henna Colombo. She comes across as tough as nails, a man-hater, and all around grumpy person. Really grumpy. At heart, she is just a tiny bit broken inside, and she needs to overcome all the things that have happened to her before she – really – will allow herself to be happy. Ms. McDonald tells a great back story that I cannot begin to explain. You’ll have to read it for yourself. Her almost stepmother, who is hilarious, and her father insist that she goes to The Perfect Date, a dating service run by said stepmother’s daughter (and the backbone of all the stories in the series.) OMG, the video she does for the service? I was rolling on the floor.
While all this is going on, the hero shows up in the story, Vassal Milano, someone Henna knows all too well. Again, you need to read the story to get the connection(s). He, too, has a back story that he needs to overcome but his role is mainly to break thru Henna’s walls. He’s a great guy…maybe just a tad clueless (okay, a LOT clueless!)…but he always shows his feelings for those around him: family, friends, and Henna.
Great book, funny and touching, and often hilarious. It is a standalone but we get to read about previous characters and enjoy the hilarity that ensues. Highly recommend this book and series.
Another fun installment in The Perfect Date Series. It just keeps getting better and better. This time trying to find the perfect match for Henna. Past experiences have made her bitter and Vassal has had his share of bad luck in the romance department too. It’s the perfect read with lots of romance, lots of laughs, lots of snark from Georgia. I can’t wait to read the next match!
If you had kept up with this series like I have, you might have been surprised that Never Look Back, Book 7 by Donna McDonald is the wicked witch of Cincinnati’s story. Of course, I never really thought that of Henna, but I certainly never would have wanted her for my step-daughter either. Still it is wonderfully funny and hopeful that Henna could have a happily ever after too. The Dating Agency is in full mode which is always a sight to behold; a dating service at its best. The quirkiness of the characters especially Georgia and “Hollywood” add to the amusement of the read. I especially enjoyed seeing how a former adversary of Georgia’s become a close friend. Then the romance in this story is special, maybe more so because Henna has been so hurt and broken by betrayal. Finely written, with spirited characters and lively, feisty dialogue, it is extremely entertaining. It is now my favorite of the series. Until Never Look Back, Never Is A Very Long Time had always held that title. The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Never Look Back is the continuation of the The Perfect Date Series and as the books before it is wonderful. Della and Mariah meet there toughest match when meet Dr. Colombo’s divorced daughter Henna. Henna’s ex was a real creep and did a number on Henna. She has decided that love and marriage are not for her. Her dad is worried about her and Georgia her future mother in law decides to help build her self esteem by having her daughter Mariah find her dates. Henna had been dating Vassal Milano, they split after Henna thinks that Vassal has other women. Henna dates a few men from the dating agency and after a few dates decides that maybe Vassal is the one. After a lot of misunderstandings and chemistry things work out and it’s a-blast to watch!!
Georgia to the Rescue! I love this series. Each book is new and fresh but we still get to visit old friends. Sassy Georgia has decided to help two damaged hearts, one being her stepdaughter, heal and find love again. Henna and Vassal already had the chemistry but not the trust. Once Georgia gets involved there is no defense. Add a sassy dog named Sophie and it makes for a great afternoon read. Of course, it's not all smooth sailing. Henna, we met in Georgia and Brent's book, and she finds her backbone in this one with a little help from Georgia. Unfortunately, it first comes out in her video for Mariah's dating service. . . We also meet a great new interesting side character, Iris Pemberton. I'm hoping we'll see more of her in the future.
I love this series, and this tale is a reason why .The quirky characters, all looking for the right partner, all having a past that causes them tp skeptical about the motives of the opposite sex, who wish to date them. Yes, often professional people don't have time to form real relationships, but they need a partner to go to functions and events. The Dating Agency is a great idea, but often it is meeting people out of a person's normal social group, that seems to net the friends that are lacking in these characters lives. Perhaps, we all should get out of our comfort zones, if we are looking for more in our lives.
Although this is the seventh book in an absolutely fantastic series, it is a standalone story. You don't have to read the others first, but I recommend you do. They are all great and provide plenty of laughs and good feels. This one included. The ladies of Perfect Date did it again because Henna and Vassal were perfect for each other. All the characters were believable and relatable. I was pulled into the story from the very beginning and couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend reading this one! *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
After a disastrous marriage, Henna cannot open herself up to another man without complete and full confidence in his trustworthiness. Her soon-to-be stepmother, the unflappable Georgia drags Henna to the Perfect Date to find, well the perfect date. She dated a few nice men, but none who set her soul on fire like her kissing friend Vassal.
This is a great romance that will make you believe in true love all over again. I highly recommend this book to contemporary romance fans.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complementary copy of this book.
I remember Henna from Georgia's book. She and Georgia were so snarky and funny. When I started this book, my first thought was to wonder if Henna could be any more bitter if she tried.
Hannah's mini metamorphosis was an interesting and humorous journey. Vassal and Jenna had such great chemistry. I enjoyed their banter.
I want to say more, but I don't want to give anything away. This was a fast paced, snarky, sometimes funny, sexy read with a surprise or two. Definitely 4.5 stars. A quick read that ended all too soon.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
DELIGHTFUL! That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think about not only this series, but also the majority of her other books. Henna is an absolute trip in her attitude towards life and love, and Vassal makes for a great recipient. The additional characters add even more laughs and delight to the book in their contact with these two. Even when things go off course you’ll find yourself laughing along with Henna. The great writing talent and imagination of the author bring the story to life! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I love Henna's story. Them chemistry and dynamics between all the characters are wonderful including the diva dog. Lol Can't wait for the next installment. Thank you Donna McDonald for putting a smile on my face.
I loved reading how H and V each overcame their flaws and fears to become and perfect fit. I’m feeling bad for M and D in that their business keeps loosing paying clients and good clients keep finding connections outside the database 😊.
As a widow I felt like this was a book written about me. Lol. Her results are different— thank goodness. I applauded and groaned with her. Another great book and will be a great reread also. Yes!!
Loved reading the captivating and engaging seventh book in The Perfect Date series. After a horrible divorce, Henna finally takes a chance dating Vassal until she discovers him kissing two women. When Henna starts dating other men, Vassal wants Henna to only date him. Read the highly recommended and wonderfully written love story.
