Survivor #5

Always You

Rate this book
What does any self respecting socialite do when she finds her husband screwing his secretary on HER dining room table?

She gets petty revenge a'la Louisville Slugger, then she runs home and pretends her whole life isn’t in tatters.

But when this princess can no longer pretend, she pulls on her big girl panties, slips out of her Louboutins and into her Nikes and gets a job for the first time in her life.

Crap.

**
Fifteen years ago, Marc was the poor kid who didn’t have two coins to rub together.
He was working hard to earn his keep, and as a side benefit, was serving the prettiest princess at the local country club while she shot glares at his back - it didn't matter to him whether they were death glares or gazes of adoration, she watched him walk away.
She watched every time.

Now Marc and Meg are grown, and she's the one wearing an apron and serving up meals.

Oh how the tables have turned.

What’s a bowl of poisoned soup between friends? She wouldn’t actually kill him.

They’re just empty threats... right?

Always You delivers the familiar warmth of family along with fantastic humor that is always present in Emilia Finn’s writing and adds on some major feels. In this first half of Marc and Meg’s story there’s a lot of emotional upheaval and life changes that add an extra element to the seriously hot frenemies to lovers relationship these two have going on.
Meg and Marc are masters of back and forth. Their banter is not only laugh out loud hilarious at times, but also builds a sexual tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. As much as these two played at enemies their chemistry over powered just about everything. They couldn’t be in the same room without sparks flying everywhere! Just that in itself is enough to have me hooked, but of course in true Emilia style there’s a lot more to them than just that incredible chemistry.
There truly is an emotional love story that is building right along with the electric chemistry that these two have. Meg is someone who at first glance most people might judge. A good bit spoiled and having lived her life in luxury she definitely wasn’t ready for the harsh reality of starting over but the amount she grew even in just the first half of this duet had me absolutely adoring her. She’s got a great family of friends to knock her into the real world while they love her fiercely and always have her back.
Marc was someone I already adored, but he’s still no saint. He had just as much to learn as Meg when it came to navigating the sometimes stormy waters between them. Full of everything from warm and fuzzies with laugh out loud moments to scorching heat and even making me shed a few tears Always You is a captivating first half of this duet! Fair warning though, since this is a duet there’s definitely a cliffy but luckily for my sanity Emilia Finn has taken mercy on all her readers and the finale of this duet isn’t far off so dive right in to Meg and Marc with no worries.

This is a first I have never written a review, but how could I not when this amazing author gifted me an ARC! This book was amazing. I love Marc and Meg! From Marc’s non farm, which has some wonderful animals to Meg’s bitchy comments. Their fighting and back and fourth had me in tears from laughing. Their chemistry that has been brewing for decades did not disappoint once it came out full force. I can not wait for part 2 because of course we got left with a cliff hanger!

"You're crushing on me, Marc Macchio?"
"I've been crushing on you since I was fifteen years old, Meg. But you already knew that."

Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope. That saying, I had high expectations starting Always You. I was rooting for Marc and Meg since Surving You. And when you have expectations as high as I had, it's hard for a book to meet them.

Marc is loyal, faithful, stubborn, he gets angry way too easy, he can't control his anger. That's me. Everything Marc is, I am. And I love him way too much to not feel his pain when his was hurting.
Meg is loyal, hard-working, stubborn as an ass, funny and uses sarcasm as a copying mechanism when things get out of her control, or are too much. She's my baby girl, and I'm so proud of the all the way she had come, how much she has grown and matured.

Marc and Meg served me good. I like their relationship, their banter, their bickering, their dynamic. 15 years later and they are still, they are the same with each other. I love them so much, I just want them to be okay and happy.

That ending, though? I just know the next book is going to break my damn heart.

I haven't laughed this hard in a minute. Marc and Meg cracked me up from start to finish. The two of them should have happened a long time ago if you ask Marc. Now with her life falling apart Meg turns to the only family she knows. Still hiding from her father she's learning what being an adult is really all about. Marc wants more than she's able to give. These two had me in tears laughing not in sorrow. They both have their own issues but mostly Meg has plenty of work to do before she can be ready, at least in her mind. I love this author and absolutely love her characters. They are the kind that just park right there in that spot in your heart and you just want good things to happen. Meg has been through the ringer with her ex and everyone in their circle knows it. This author does women who even when they want to whine they do it selectively then put on their big girl panties and gets the job done. I loved this but yes prepare yourself it does end on a cliff hanger. One heck of a cliffie too!!

Oh Marc ❤️

Another light and sweet read from Finn. I was worried that this was going to be overly angsty but it’s not. Just the right amount of angst. Both MC’s are lovable and relatable.

I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC copy of Marc and Megan’s story by the talented Emilia Finn.

Marc grew up way too fast when he had to step up to raise his little sister. They were both taken in by the Turners but as much as he was loved by them he was never confident that he wouldn’t lose the people he loved.

Megan lost her mother and was raised by a loving rich father who catered to her. She’s never had to work for anything. She married after high school and lived her life in the shadow of her husband. However, something happened to change all that.....

Within 5 minutes of laying eyes on each other words were traded that pitted them against each other. That was when they were teenagers. They are now grown up and still hate each other...until they don’t!

This is a two part story....will they end up together thru all the ups and downs??? Will one of them run when the going gets rough???

Emilia ~ I can NOT wait to find out (please write faster 🤣)

If you haven’t read the Rollin series and the Survivor series ~ do it! You won’t be disappointed!!!!! Total 5 stars recommendation from moi ❤️🎉

Would have five stars , if not for Meg

I just did not like meg, she was very annoying and stuck up all she did was play games and make it about her. It suck and then had the nerve to have a book two. If I have to read more about Meg then I rather skip it. Love the way the author writes, just couldn’t take the h

I did not like Meg. I could not stand her. I understood why she was the way she was but I did not like her. Did not want Marc to be with her. This was hard for me to get through. I have FOMO so I will read the next book for Meg and Marc but I am not sure that she will redeem herself in my eyes.

3.5 stars rounded up

Spoilers ahead.

I like Marc's character, but I'm on the fence about Meg. She's a bit too bitchy and immature. Yes, her husband cheated on her so she's emotional and all but she's mad at Marc a decade later for him not disagreeing about her saying she was a whore. Really? Grow the eff up. And a lot of her conversations with him are the same. Petty bs. So not a fan.

It was also kinda obvious all along Marc had a thing for her when they appeared in the earlier books. Why she's fighting it, I'll never know. But kudos to him for stepping in and making the suggestion and following through.

On top of it, she seems more like a clueless trophy wife. Drew (her husband) took everything from her and she didn't notice?! Seriously? How do you not notice millions of dollars missing??

Other than that, I feel like the story is regurgitating others... From the bike rides and nails on the guys stomach while riding, to the mistress getting pregnant, and now we're going to throw in her pregnant too. I mean, in theory it could be Drew's but that would be a really crappy story, so I assume it's Marc's.

I feel like the final book for them will be hit or miss. And honestly, I'm expecting a miss based on what I read so far.

That being said, I do enjoy the supporting characters overall and the overall storyline. Even though there are words that would never be used in America and from reading all the stories from Rollin On and Survivor, these books appear to be in some small town in America. This book didn't seem as bad. I don't think there was a single cringeworthy "I gotcha back" comment. It was properly spelled out this time! But throwing around the whore word again is just not cool.

Meg is just so combative. About everything. While it's her defense mechanism, it sucks. Get her some therapy in the next book or something. And seriously, how does she hide in small town, USA from her father? Granted, he's fishing a lot and wants to retire, but that just doesn't seem practical.

Hmm. Maybe this is more like a 3 star book as I type all that out and think about it more... 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really really love Emilia Finn (and literally every other book in her series') but this one was big fat no. I gave it a 3 star just because I like Emilia and her writing style - there was still funny dialogue and I love keeping up with the other characters. I HATED Meg. Like, completely. I thought she was selfish and rash and annoying. I liked Marc at first but he became entirely too much. Like, I get it - you want the best for your sister but his attitude and actions were way over board and out of line. (Kind of spoiler coming) and the talk of abortion for no other reason than "you're scared"? Sorry, but she became pretty unredeemable from there for me. Even after she knew for sure it was Marc's! And let's talk about how she married doucheburger? For someone thats so"independent" that just made absolutely zero sense. I finished this one but did not finish the second. I have no idea why this couple got 2 books. I would have much much much rather had a Luc/Kari book than two meg and marc's. This will not keep me from reading more books of hers (I've read all that she has out) but was sad to say I was seriosuly disappointed.

Continuing on in this great series
This time rich socialite who grew up in our little town and escaped to what she thought of a better life.
Years later things come crashing down around her where she is left with a cheating husband no money and no likely source of income, unless she returns to the town she left and asks for her dads help. Also returning to her best friend and the boy she left whom she despised.
But really Love and hate can be mixed up and Meg is starting to realise that
Marc , forever single fiercely protective of his sister and step siblings
Family is his everything, especially after a misunderstanding to a girl he had feelings for back in high school Meg
This time when he finds her back in town he is out to right his wrong
He wants the girl 😍
This is a 2 part series and it needed it
There is a big part of this story that involves another couple and Marc’s relationship with both
The love, tge secrets the hurt Marc feels and whether he can accept the outcome
Another great read

This is book five of the Survivor Series and book one of the Marc and Meg duet, this book is also tied to the Rollin On series by the same author Emilia Finn.

This book starts right where Sammy and Scotch stopped. You revisit some characters from book 1 of the Rollin On series through the last book of the Survivor Series. We knew Meg from before as always being the Snitch and a great best friend to Sammy. We have known Marc for a long time as a band member, friend to Scotch. Marc builds furniture and Meg is more worried about her appearance, Meg’s life is about to turn 180 degrees and Marc gets to resolve some issue he has had since high school.

The character development was really good and well thought out, it built of the knowledge that the reader had from previous books. Unlike previous books this one does not center on all the other characters, this one is compact, it centers on the guys from the band and their ladies.

This book does not have a HEA and it does have a cliffhanger, you will have to read book 2 to find out what happens.

3.5/5. I very much loved Marc. Meg not so much. I hope she has some redeeming qualities in the second part of the duet. She is awful to Marc and almost to everyone else. She acts like she is above everyone. She likes Marc and always has liked him. There was a line about how even though she was with a man like Drew and will probably marry another man like Drew at least she had her time with Marc to cherish. That right there made me like her even less. I keep reading these series because I do enjoy the characters and find the majority of the love stories wonderful. There are laugh out loud moments throughout the series. But this couple I pair with Sammy and Scotch. I just am not feeling the connection.

Marc and Meg!!!!! Just wow! After meeting in 'without you', I have been waiting for this book because the enemy status was sizzling! And Emilia never disappoints! In this case, Emilia drew me in completeIy! I felt Meg and I felt for Meg! The words never judge a book by its cover are so true for Meg! And Marc... well he is definitely the alpha male with lots of sensitivity and family loyalty thrown in, along with so much hotness and sexiness! I laughed so much and so hard through the entire book! I'm sure book 2 will have that and lots of tears! Well played with the cliff hanger Emilia Finn! I'm so ready for book 2!!!

duet part 1

I’m not a huge fan of duets and this series has 2 of them. Obviously they aren’t deal breakers and really they are just selfish reasons why I don’t like them. I want it all and I want it right now.
Meg and Marcus from the beginning you knew the relationship would be so hot and cold. This is a reread for me and I’m glad I’m doing it because there’s definitely some stuff I didn’t remember that made me giggle. And I think Marcus just might be one of the dirtier boys so far which are my favorite.
Like all of Emilia’s books this is well written and reads easily. On to part 2 which I KNOW hurts my heart a little bit.

This is the story of Marc and Meg. Their love/hate relationship is realistic and amazing. Meg has gone through so much drama in this story. I wanted to laugh and cry in the opening scene. The author has amazed me with how each story makes me fall in love with the main male character.

The plotline was realistic. The character development was spot on. The witty one liners had me choking on my drink, and I loved it from start to finish. I cannot wait for the next book. I will recommend this to others, I give it 5/5 Platypires.

Always You a Must Read

Always You had me laughing out loud with tears in my eyes. Megan aka Poot is hilarious character she has zero filter when she talks. Meg doesn't mess her words but when she is having a bad day she takes it out on Marc. Marc is sexy, hilarious, he is the leading male in this story. Absolutely loved their banter, chemistry is explosive and when they fight it's their foreplay. This is a must read if you have read this series or Emilia Finn. Happy Reading!!

Meg has always been one of my favorites of the survivor (& its companions) series. She's honest, she's blunt and she's funny. She's also prideful, headstrong and frustrating.
I think we all knew in our hearts that no one could suit Meg better than Marc. Loyal, dependable and angry man Marc.
This story starts out like only Meg's could... with a slugger to an Astin Martin and a cheating no good husband.
I've never seen a couple fight more than Marc and Meg... but thats just foreplay 😘
& the cliffhanger.... 😮
Rushing to read part 2 now!

Loved it!!

OMG! I always knew Meg and Marc were meant for each other but the whole being married thing fooled me. This book made me feel like I'm watching my own friends find their way. I have to hurry to the next book for answers. Will Marc and Luc kill each other? Who is Angelo interested in? Will Drew go down?? FYI any book book by Emilia Finn, no matter what, is on my auto purchase TBR list!!!

Great book and series

This story has been brewing for a while and I was glad to see Meg finally ditch Biff. Can’t wait to start the second half of Marc and Meg’s story in the next book...in about 30 seconds from now...give or take a couple seconds depending on my download speed.

Side note: Get the whole story from the start with the Rollers series first. This book and series continues on from theirs. I’ve loved every book. Totally worth the sleep deprivation.

Another really great book by Emilia Finn. I have loved all of her books so far.
Meg got on my nerves at first with her whining and rich girl attitude but once she finally had to do for herself and was able to finally learn that not everything comes to you for free or from daddy’s money, then she became a little more tolerable. Her and Marc both can get nasty and mean to each other but I think that’s what makes them work together. Now lets see how this pans out in the second book of theirs.

Amazing

All I ever have is praise for Emilia’s books. She make you love her then she rips your heart out & makes you hate her. But you know in the end, she’ll make it all better. She rarely leaves you in a cliffhanger, but here she does. But that just makes you yearn for the next book. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

OMG!! Sooo good!!

Marc and Meg are just dynamite! There’s a thin line between lust, love, and hate...and that line was well crafted in this book. I won’t give any spoilers...but you need to have time to sit and read this book AND the second half of the duet! You won’t want to put them down!!!

We have seen glimpses of Marc and I never understood completely why he was so serious and a bit of a butthole... Now I get it. And I don't hate him. In fact it's the opposite. I thought Marc would be my most conflicted... Only because I had strong negative feeling towards him... Now? Nope. I got his back anyway... But I also got megs
